Elizabeth is a-ma-zing! I'm new in town. I was looking for a good hair color stylist. Off Camber Studios got my attention with their 100+ Yelp reviews and 5 stars. As I was looking at the photos, I was very impressed with Elizabeth's work. I gave her a call and Elizabeth worked with my schedule to setup an appointment. I was greeted warmly by Elizabeth's assistant -I arrived early. Elizabeth was ready at the scheduled time of our appointment. She was very comforting, she took the time to understand what I wanted, she looked at the photos that I gathered, and made me feel at ease by confirming that she understood what I wanted. I maintained a dark brown/black hair that became a signature look for me, but I wanted to soften my look by adding subtle highlights. I couldn't trust anyone as I feared that I'd end up with orange streaky hair. Elizabeth delivered exactly what I wanted if not more: I still have that mesmerizing dark hair, with oh so natural highlights towards the ends that are perfectly blended in. Ok let me just leave a second review now that I can see my hair in the sunlight. THIS IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL COLOR JOB I'VE EVER HAD! I've had so many bad balayages in the past and all-over color on my naturally dark brown hair. I can never seem to find a hairdresser who understands that my goal is NOT to have an overall lighter look (I like my dark hair!), I just want to enhance my brunette shade to make it less...blah. Michael did a such a fab job on cutting & styling my frizzy curly hair! I came in wanting about an inch chopped off and was in desperate need of some layers and texture. Michael gave me one of the best blowouts I've ever had on my curly hair, he made it bouncy and super soft (something many stylists cannot do with my hair / without using a flat iron). He cut it dry and styled it so easily. He definitely gave me the look I was going for. I always have to commend stylists when they can work with curly hair like mine. Went in to get a balayage from Korbin. I was in and out of there within 5 minutes. I showed her a reference photo, a girl with balayage black roots to icy white ends. She said "yeah no, that's not going to happen" "you will never get that white" granted my hair had split ends and isn't the best condition. I didn't think it really had the worst condition either. It's virgin hair so I was thinking it could be easier to get lighter. She proceeds to check my hair out and just overall looks in disgust. She keeps looking at my hair and talks about how damaged it is. Not even empathetic about it. She grabs on piece and says "see I barely grabbed this and it already broke off". I'm not upset about my hair being damaged or her honesty. Just upset how she talked to me about it, sounded very condescending and I ended up leaving feeling bad about myself and my hair. read more

Dallas Taylor gives the best haircut I've had in 20 years. After what seemed like an eternity of trying different professionals, my colorist suggested I try Dallas. He is fantastic, truly talented with the tools of hair cutting and shaping. He has cut my long, thick hair, my sons wavy hair and all my daughters hair. My teens beg to have Dallas cut their hair. Because of quarantine and mandatory lockdown of 2020, I, just like almost everyone else, tried to handle my own hair bleaching maintenance and fried the sh*t out of my long lovely locks. Dyed it back to dark brown so my dried and dead hair won't be too noticeable but it didn't work as my hair started breaking off on the top, back part of my head badly. I finally just admitted that I messed up, I definitely reflected back on my mistakes that year, I even promised myself and the higher power that I won't do it again if someone can just help me fix it back to normal and then BOOM!! I found Julia online who was available that same day, who also gave me some helpful advice on what I can change/do/add in my hair routine to prevent my hair from more breakage while giving a refreshing new hair-do. I honestly never thought I would be able to pull off having a short hair because it reminds me of Dora the Explorer but it actually suits me! I contemplated a week whether to write a review. This is my experience with hair stylist Dallas. He did an amazing job with my haircut which I have no issues whatsoever. My issue is with the way he behaved with me. I could have been a returning customer. Well not anymore. I have seen very great reviews about this salon and Dallas. I have seen his work and was quite impressed. I really wanted to get a nice hair style and full balayage with Dallas in particular. This is my first time visiting this salon and Dallas. I go in and get seated and talk about my requirements. It looked like he is already in a bad mood. I'm not the one to judge. Everyone has their bad moments/ days.But not everyone takes it out on others and especially their customers. I'm trying to be as detailed as possible on the look I want. I asked for full balayage. As I already have permanent color on my hair, he told me balayage wouldn't look good on my hair. I like how he was clear on that and didn't lie. But here's the issue. I've asked him to suggest me some alternatives as I'm set on getting hair colored. I've colored it pre covid and I really wanted a fresh look. He asked me to tell him what I've wanted. These are my literal words " You are the hair stylist. You would know better what will suit me in this scenario. Whatever I know is from watching a few pics in google ". Apparently Dallas felt I've made a snide remark. He felt he didn't get good vibes from me and he said he wouldn't do any color on me and will just do my cut. I was quite taken aback by his words. I wasn't expecting to receive such words from a hairstylist. It's not like we are on a first date for him to look for my vibe. I wouldn't have booked with him if I haven't liked his work. In retrospect, I should've walked out right that moment. I was too shocked to process what's happening because getting told off by a hairstylist is not my everyday routine. I apologized for making him feel like that. I apologized for coming off in a wrong way. Apologized for choosing wrong words that hurt him. Now that I think about it Why did I? And he never apologized in the one hour I spent there getting a hair cut. To be a good hairstylist you need to do a good job. To be a great hairstylist you need to know how to behave with your customers. Dallas is a good hairstylist and can never become great hairstylist. I really regret going to this studio based on yelp reviews. A free suggestion: If you need to vibe with your customers, perhaps have a mandatory consultation before the appointment. You can decide if you like their vibes and if you would do service to them. It would save a lot of embarrassment for your studio in future. read more

But when I moved to Scottsdale, I figured I would find a local stylist. After much online searching I found Elizabeth. She listens and gets what I want to do with my hair. I've seen her twice and both times I felt great about the color. She added low lights and highlights this time to add depth while respecting and color match my natural color. He got what my needs were and even encouraged me to keep my hair longer than I had been thinking. I had Stevie as my stylist I gave her a picture of what I wanted (balayage) and she told me I wouldn't achieve the level of blonde in the photo which I expected. Nice space, polite staff, and my services were okay, but I expected a greater level expertise based on the reviews I read. The most important part of a salon service is the consultation. My stylist was very nice and pleasant, but he wasn't receptive to what I was asking for. I was explicit in that I didn't want diffused highlights, but that's what I got. I asked for a trim and a little long layering, but I got a pretty ho-hum one length bob that was not executed with as much precision, or refinement as I expect for an $80 haircut. My advice for the salon is to ditch all the gadgets. Instead, focus on technique and giving the guest what they ask for. The assistant took longer to lay out an array of cutting tools that would shame a serial killer than the stylist took to actually cut my hair. Too much gimmickry and not enough skill for my taste. read more

I just got back from getting my hair cut here, and I am so happy with the results. My hair stylist was Brent and he was amazing. I showed him the style I wanted and he gave me an exact replica. He thinned and layered my hair beautifully and I'm so pleased with it. Bonus points: his apprentice massaged my head for an extra 5 minutes when I asked her to during the hair wash. I told her I was stressed and she helped me out so much with the scalp massage; she was so sweet and helpful. I also didn't feel the need to talk the entire time, which is an issue for me at most hair salons. That being said, Brent and I talked almost the entire time about things I was actually interested in like great restaurants and outdoor activities. I felt relaxed there because I could see that he knew what he was doing and I wasn't going to leave with butchered hair. Overall, I would recommend that everyone come here.
