This little mom-pop shop is worth every penny. I've never seen a breakfast place so cheap! The food was good. I got the french toast combo that came with bacon and eggs. It only costs $6! At other places I've been too that would have been around $10. My friend got the "rosebud" which is the kitchen sink with a biscuit in it. It was pretty good and filling and the price was more than reasonable. It was only .30 cents more to add a biscuit to the "kitchen sink" so you might as well do it! It's pretty much a skillet with mini potatoes covered with cheese, ham and peppers. I would suggest adding bacon. This place is perfectly price. I wish other places were this cheap! read more

We were passing through and stopped on the way to LA. Based on the yelp reviews, we thought we'd stop for a quick breakfast. Very good homestyle cooking, but there was nothing "quick" about this place. It took a long time to get seated, a long time to get our food, and a long time to get the waiter's attention. (He had lots of tables to handle.) Do not plan on eating at OD's if you don't have time to spare! Weirdly, no shakes. We went to OD's on Sunday and the place was very busy. After a 30 minute wait we were seated in what I consider the middle of the hallway, 2 steps from a very busy bathroom and absolutely no privacy at all. Not the best place to sit, especially when this was our first visit and was expecting a 4-1/2 star experience. The food was average and the portions were on the small side. Our waiter, and owner, was courteous but the support staff was slow. They appear to be thriving but the ambiance is terrible and the facility is in need of great repair. Gilroy, on the outside, appears to be trying to return to the quaint old days with period buildings and pleasant streets but it is the individual small businesses that are not doing their part. I can see this place being a favorite local watering hole. Good grub, plenty of it, and a small town feel where it seems the staff knows your name (at least, they knew the names of some of the people eating there). My boyfriend and I drove an hour to come here (for no real reason other than Yelp gave it fab reviews). We didn't wait too long, about 10 minutes, before being seated. We debated the famed kitchen sink, but honestly, I don't really like ham, and my boyfriend doesn't like cheese, so we both ordered the next Yelp fave - the chicken fried steak. I also got a giant cup of hot cocoa topped with three inches of whipped cream. The hot cocoa was sugar over kill, will not be ordering that again! The chicken fried steak was large, with thick beef and covered in a thick bread coating and covered in savory gravy. The steak was a little too salty for me, so I focused instead on the piping hot home fries that were soft in the middle, and crispy on the outside - just the way they should be! This is what local business should be: honest, personal and delicious! The food portion is ridiculously huge. However, odeez doesn't only speak quantity but also quality. I split my "Kitchen Sink" with a guy friend and I still had some leftovers. Another friend got the burger (she's a huge meatlover) and she likes her burger. She too unable to finish her food. The three of us also shared hashbrown potatoes. These were not finished either. Kitchen Sink was such a delicious mess: fried potatoes, eggs, hams and creamy gravy. There's a lot of flavor inside it. As much as I love my food, I couldn't finish it tho (note: I came hungry, my friend's bf and my friend too). One by one, we raised a white flag. Went for breakfast with the fellas on our way to Monterey. Good not great. As diners go, I'd say it's about par for the course. No milkshakes. Come on! really? I may be a little jaded when it comes to breakfast/diner joints because they're among my favorite places to go. You can also blame Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. Their big seller is the Kitchen Sink. Ham, potatoes, peppers, some other stuff, all cubed into bite sized pieces and then topped with an egg. It tastes good and its got all the right components: pig, fried potatoes, cheese and egg. It just didn't blow me away. I don't know what it was. Something was missing. I would definitely go again if I was in the area to explore the rest of the menu and maybe revise my review. Side of avocado and bacon. 2 grilled jalapeños. Everything was pretty bomb. The hash was the best. Could have done without the chicken fried steak though. Breading came off and ended up being soggy. Finally got to get over here for some breakfast and came away from that joint stuffed and quite impressed! Od's offers the best breakfast you can get in the south bay by a landslide. Places like Denny's, Jeffrey's, Sunshine Cafe, Betsy's, and Black Bear don't hold a torch to this place. Came on a Saturday morning and it was packed so it ended up taking about an hour to get our food but it was well worth the wait. I got the chicken fried steak, eggs, toast, country potatoes, and a side of hash browns. The chicken fried steak was truly homemade along with the gravy and tasted fantastic. Eggs over easy came out perfect and piping hot. Country potatoes with some ketchup hit the spot as well. The Hash Browns were cooked PERFECTLY and were DAMN good. I can't get hash browns to come out like that, they did it up right. The toast really caught me off guard. I'm so used to getting lukewarm toast with some unmelted butter stuck in the middle. Tried the wheat and the sourdough and they both were perfectly covered with butter all the way across the top and already melted. It was PERFECT. It's the small things like a side of toast that make a good place great. The friends I brought got the kitchen sink and the eggs benedict which looked great as well and they were just as impressed as I was with this diamond in the rough. I will be returning here anytime there is an opportunity to stop for breakfast. Situated in what appears to be Downtown Gilroy it is about 2 miles from the Outlets, south along Monterey Street. It claims to be the best place in Gilroy for breakfast. It's in a quaint little area and parking is ample but timed. We entered a very unassuming little diner and were seated immediately. It was about 11:30 am on a Friday. Basically all I wanted was garlic. As a vegetarian who avoids bread and starches, this would prove difficult. So I broke my normal eating habits for some garlic fries. WORTH IT. my husband ordered a tuna salad sandwich and a side salad. He got his salad and was then told that they were out of tuna. He ended up getting a grilled cheese and was still happy with it. I got the large green salad which was INSANE. Essentially, it was a bed of romaine covered in mushrooms, tomatoes, corn, onions, pickles, and I'm sure more that I have forgotten. It was so delicious and exactly what I was hoping for. The fries I had less than half of but MAN were they good. Of all the breakfast joints, only OD's is worth visiting. OD's is a tiny hole in the wall. You blink, you miss it. The menu is simple, but has enough items for even the pickiest eaters. I've never tried the Kitchen Sink, but I've seen the size of the monster. I usually stick to the eggs, bacon and pancakes, which has never disappointed me. The size of their platters are humungous. The prices are SUPER cheap and the service is superb. Once again, be prepared to wait for a table, since the dining room is comparable to a living room. Seriously a GREAT place to have breakfast! We we hastily were looking for a place to grab a bite to eat before heading out of the greater Bay Area, so it was Gilroy or bust! Luckily, OD's Kitchen showed up as the highest-rated breakfast joint in town, so I'm glad we made the pit stop! Located just off a side street in downtown garlic-land, the restaurant was quaint, homey, and super cozy. Service was really friendly, attentive...almost motherly. Luckily we beat the morning rush, because just after we were seated, the restaurant filled up quickly (even on a Friday morning). Note: The front room is super cute to dine in. We had the perfect window seats for people-watching! We both ordered the biscuit breakfast with fresh biscuits and gravy, opting to substitute potatoes for the bacon. Yummmy! The biscuits were nice and moist, the gravy rich, and the potatoes crispy! If I had a bottomless pit, I would've eaten the whole plate. Unfortunately, I could only devour 1/2 biscuit and the potatoes, because the portions were large! You definitely get more than what you pay for. Looks like the kitchen sink is the big deal here. I'd definitely return to try it next time I'm in the area or heading out of town. P.S. Because we opted not to have the meat in our meals, they discounted the entrees by $1.00. But after that, the service was great and we got our food and drink order in within 5 minutes. I ordered 1/2 of the Rosebud (with extra gravy sauce) which was SOOOO good. The 1/2 order was huge and only ate half of it. It was so good that my hubby keep eating off of my plate and saying "I am ordering this next time!" He ordered an omelette (don't remember which one) which was pretty good but nothing compared like the Rosebud. Another great breakfast thanks to yelpers. The Bf'er and I had a hearty coffee fueled breakfast-fest here before venturing down & towards the coast a few weeks ago. I think it's safe to call this one of the only can't miss places in a 25 mile radius. Being over planners we drove by the night before to gage our chances of getting in and out easily the next morning. We're big fans of the back-up plan. But it wasn't necessary. Do be warned that this place looks like a 2 room operation with 6 tables or so. Such is not the case! There is a labyrinthine amount of tableture to be had for the consumption of breakfast foods.
