The Day Dream Cabins was such an AWESOME find. I looked and looked for a new place to stay near…read moreFredericksburg and finally decided on Day Dream Cabins. Recently updated, it was cozy and comfortable with lots of great amenities. I didn't receive any information regarding our stay until arriving at the property and realizing there is a gate around the property. A gate code is needed...well that is good information to send to your customers a day or so out in an email. Just sayin.... So after calling the number listed in an email received when i paid the deposit to stay at Day Dream Cabins about 6 or 7 times with no answer and no way to leave a voicemail, i get a text message with the gate code and the code to get into our cabin. That was kinda bad communication on their part because it was an hour after check-in time and we were sitting at the gate trying to get in. Anyway, i am not going to allow that to make me not enjoy my stay at this beautiful property. The bed was so comfortable, the kitchen was pretty well stocked with pots and pans, but bring paper plates and silverware and coffee with you! There are some very small coffee cups and plates to use but.... The refrigerator is very cute, but is not there for a lot of food. Freezer space is very small. Bring a cooler with ice to keep drinks cold if you are planning on a multi day stay. They provide wood for the fire pit and there should be a fire starter in your cabin but you might need some lighter fluid or a starter log. You also will need charcoal for the grills if you plan to cookout. Fredericksburg is a short 5 minute drive up 16, so very convenient to go and shop or for dinner and drinks. We are looking forward to visiting again with all the above things in mind for our next trip. Very peaceful place with great patios on all the cabins. Go check this place out!

The cabin is well appointed with everything you need and super clean. The daily breakfast is so delicious and the owners are open to dietary modifications if you need them. We stayed in The Roost cabin and ate on the back porch each morning. If you get up early you can have your coffee on the front porch while watching the deer. Or watch them while enjoying a glass of wine at dusk. I'm sure we'll be back as the cabins are close enough to Fredericksburg to see the sights but far enough in the country to give you time to slow down and enjoy the peace and quiet.

Steve and Glenda (the property owners) were AWESOME. So kind and welcoming from the minute we arrived. When we pulled up to our cabin and got out we were greeted by a friendly bunch of chickens, they actually ran up to greet us. :o) The cabin was picturesque... there was a screened in sitting area on the back porch with comfy rocking chairs and additional chairs and a beautiful covered front porch with rocking chairs and a chiminea. When we walked in the cabin looked just as it did in the pictures online. Beautifully decorated and very clean. A king sized bed in the main area with a small kitchen equipped with; microwave, small refrigerator (freezer had 2 ice trays and fridge had 4 waters), plates, wine glasses and opener, cups, coffee mugs, keurig (coffee, tea bags, creamer and sugar), dish washing soap, etc. The bathroom was the perfect size with a walk in shower (it was very clean). The loft upstairs was perfect, again very clean and super cute. It is a small space but perfect for climbing in for a good nights sleep. There was an oscillating fan in the loft which helped with the air circulation. Very cozy! Both beds were very comfortable. There was a flat screen smart TV in the main area, we were able to watch Netflix or regular television. The AC worked great. In the evening we sat on the front porch and had a fire in the chiminea. Steve and Glenda stopped us on our way in on our first night there and asked how we liked our eggs prepared, they also asked if we had any dietary restrictions. They told us that they would deliver our breakfast to our door the next morning between 8:30am-9am. The next morning they were right on time and did not disappoint. A beautiful display (see picture)... fresh eggs, bacon, breakfast potatoes, homemade biscuits, homemade apple butter (to die for), fresh squeezed orange juice. It was a WONDERFUL, down to each little detail. The next morning we had another great breakfast... fresh eggs, sausage links, french toast w/ strawberries and bananas, walnuts and more fresh squeezed orange juice. Glenda also made us a sweet treat (individual chocolate lava cakes) that Steve delivered to us on Saturday afternoon. YUM! We had a memorable weekend in Fredericksburg... a wonderful place to stay, a great wine tour (290 Wine Shuttle), good food and laughs. I will come back and stay at this beautiful place again. Thank you Steve and Glenda for providing us the perfect home away from home for the weekend!

The scenery of the property was like something from a Hallmark movie! Absolutely gorgeous. The beds were our favorite lol they were so comfortable! Not to mention the entire house is so tastefully decorated (without having to worry about the kids having accidents). There was even a small Xmas tree we turned on after the Macy's Day Parade! The house is perfect for families! Spacious enough to where you can all be together but also on your own without being disturbed. As the family chef, the kitchen was my favorite! It had all the odds and ends I needed to cater to my nieces. The house had all the creature comforts of home one could ever need or want. Could not recommend Melanie and her home more! 100/10 stars, would recommend and will stay again!

There are lots of options around Texas for romantic spots so that doesn't sound too hard, right? Well, it wouldn't be if you weren't dealing with a hormonal, PMSing girl with mad food cravings because she's trying to be good and eat low carb to squeeze into the size-too-small bridesmaid dress that she ordered. Too much info? I digress. We hit the wine road towards Fredericksburg and after seven wineries, 42 tastings, and six bottles later, he brought me to the most adorable place I've ever stayed at: Carriage House. In case you're wondering, it was just as adorable the next day when I was more sober (my photos don't do the place justice). The outside of the main house was pretty, but no, we weren't staying in the main house- he did better than that. Off to the side of the main house was a little cottage standing by itself. "EEEEE, we're staying in there?!" my tipsy self gushed. The girly squeals only intensified after I saw the interior of the cottage. Hubs had outdone himself. A few tips for first timers: Dogs under 30lbs are allowed to stay for an extra $10/night. You have your very own private parking spot that is literally right next to the cottage. Once parked, you will find a little gate about a yard in front of your car; the gate leads right to the front of the cottage. In addition to the usuals that are provided at a hotel, the cottage is also supplied with dishes, silverware, and wine openers. Just check the drawers around the kitchen sink. Towels and extra toiletries are located under the bathroom sinks, and there is a step stool located underneath the (very high) bed. If you're short, use it. If you've been drinking wine all day, use it. When in doubt, use it. You're not actually served breakfast in bed here. Instead, you're given $10 vouchers (one for each guest) that can be used at several popular brunch spots in Fredericksburg. If Carriage House had a cheesy slogan, I would imagine it to be something along the lines of, "Carriage House: Drink Wine and Fall in Love." So friends, drink wine, fall in love, and check this place out. But don't try to book on my birthday weekend. Because it'll be mine.

It was romantic and we discovered the neighboring cabin seems to be empty so we have the entire experience to ourselves. Cons: The menu for breakfast ranged $9-15 per person. And the voucher is for $12 for the entire bill. 5 rather large dead bees on the floor. I'm grateful they are dead and I know it's a cabin but I have an aversion to bugs dead or alive and I think a quick sweeping before guests arrive would have been sufficient. We found a broom and swept them up ourselves. Also there was a sign on the wall that quoted the price for the room at $20 less a night than I am paying.. Which is definitely a con. It's OK to raise the prices, things change, I'd just rather not know about it. The shower head is rainfall/soak only..I like it but my husband prefers more water pressure. Tub is sized for one.. Fine with me but good to know. THE PROS (outweigh the cons) It's a full cabin to ourselves.. Upstairs is the bedroom and washroom..downstairs is a living room with a small table for 2 and a tiny kitchette. It's cozy, fun, pretty, secluded and very romantic..the porch is nice the area is gorgeous and we wish we could stay a week. It's a 10min drive from town and although the host lives on the property they keep to themselves. Bed is big and comfortable, whirlpool tub bath is nice (especially after a wine tour and a night out dancing at the saloon) There is a CD player which was nice too for some low mood music. No TV..perfect for a real vacation. Fireplace is really nice too. coffee, water and oj is provided. Heat/cool is well controlled so the cabin is comfortable. So.. Highly suggest taking one morning and getting breakfast to go, then sit on the porch listening to birdsong and watching the neighboring cows graze and deer frolic. There's a bird feeder with all sorts of birds and a squirrel even joined me on the porch (sitting still long enough). Honestly the most peaceful relaxing way to spend our final morning. In my opinion, staying off the beaten path is best. The way the wood creaks, the smell of a cabin, the clear view of the stars in the night sky, morning mist and being serenaded by birds in the morning.. We didn't want to go home.

We are in town for a weekend away, and the hubby surprised me and made us a reservation for lunch…read more I had never heard of this place, so wasn't sure what to expect. We were greeted by a lovely hostess who seated us early, and our server was a nice gentleman who was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. We started with the green goddess juice, which was refreshing (but a little too sweet for us normally. But we drank it!) We opted for the burrata appetizer and it absolutely mind-blowing and delicious. The quality of the ingredients is superior and the flavors just worked. I ordered the Hometown Fred Burger, and I loved it so much. The meat was thick and juicy, and it had bacon and PEACHES on it! Sounds crazy- but it was one of the best things I've had. The side winder fries sounded weird on the menu- but trust me- get them. Loved them. Hubby ordered the hot honey chicken sandwich, and he said it was excellent. He went with the sweet potato waffle fries, and they were also yummy. Overall- great value for this meal. The ingredients and flavors are upscale and such high quality. Honestly I felt like the prices were competitive based on the quality. I saw several menu items I'd love to try when we come back.

This was a mother/daughter girls trip. We made reservations to Hill Country Herb Garden restaurant…read morefor Sunday which happened to be Father's Day. We were seated immediately, the ambiance was nice, the gardens we walked thru outside were gorgeous. Our first waiter was aloof, he spilled water all over the table, cleaned it up...accidents happen no biggie but he seemed annoyed with us, when he was the one who spilled onto the table and into my friend's lap. Fortunately, most landed on the table. We had scheduled on line and the limit it showed was 8 on the first screen and then we were given a noted area where it asked how many people, we confirmed 9 people, we paid $180 for this reservation. It did charge for 8 (missed that in the email). When we arrived we asked the hostess ( young dark haired girl not friendly) she answered with an attitude and let us know we had booked for eight and NO they would not accommodate. Part of our group was seated. The rest of the group came in and saw that the two ladies on the end were so crowded at the narrow table it was going to make eating difficult. So I went to ask for a manager. The manager (Chris maybe, bearded guy). He was immediately, defensive and attitude-y. I asked him if it was possible for us to get another table moved over. "NO, the girl already told you. Not possible, we are booked ". Mind you I'm looking around and there are two tables in our room with people, us and another one AND Three empty tables. Each room had more empty tables than they did people. He tells me they are ALL booked. I'm like there is nothing. NOPE. I tell him there is no need to speak with that attitude and rudeness and then I go sit down because I'm not trying to ruin our trip. So a new waiter came, some ordered the lavender mimosas, peach Bellini, Bloody Mary, hot tea & champagne. The lavender mimosa got mixed reviews, very sweet. Bloody Mary and green tea were exceptionally good. We asked whether there was a sugar free coffee option, waiter didn't ever come back. We ordered chicken and waffles, salmon eggs Benedict, regular eggs Benedict and tuna ahi salad & a cinnamon roll. Chicken and waffles was cinnamon forwards but not really a Belgian waffle and the waffle was not hot, you got two chicken strips (the crust was flavorful but the chicken was a bit dry). Two of us paid extra for hot honey, it WASN'T hot or even flavorful! Both Eggs Benedict were cooked right but just warm. Tasted good but the classic breakfast fries could have been cooked longer. The tuna ahi salad was very good although the tuna was a small serving. Asked another waiter About the sugarfree coffee, he suggested and then came back with raspberry latte, tried it but it was weird...No one ever asked if it was okay, no one asked about the lavender mimosa even though we ordered another champagne and pushed it aside . The cinnamon roll was delicious but more of a bread pudding. Overall it was not a great experience. The customer service was lacking. I realize we showed up with an extra person( from the managers viewpoint) but they could have accommodated even if they said we'll try but if all the booked clientele show up then we will have to come get the table. Also after spilling the water on the table and some into a customers lap, the manager should have comped her champagne or something as an apology for the ruckus. Two tables in our section were empty the entire time we were there. There were multiple empty tables throughout the restaurant the entire time we were there. I can't recommend this place, very rude management and not at all accommodating, lacking customer service & the food was not up to par
