I like to go to sleep with my tv on in the bedroom although not everyone does and it's probably not recommended but it would've been nice to have a tv in the bedroom as most people and most hotels/ Airbnbs have one. I did notice our first morning waking up that they have tiny itty bitty ants everywhere near the kitchenette. We didn't have any sweets out but they were still there. We paid extra for deer corn and I wish I wouldn't have bc they only came in the middle of the night so we didn't experience it. What was odd was the check in location was approximately 15 - 20min away from the actual cottages. It was rather difficult for us to navigate to them having a later check in (8pm) we drove right after work from Austin. Breakfast vouchers are given upon check in which was a pleasant surprise. Overall I'd come back and try staying at one of their bigger cottages like the 2bd with our kids.

So since we were celebrating my wife's birthday and our 46th anniversary this week, I booked the Pedernales Cabin for a couple nights. When they talk about stepping back in time, it is indeed appropriate. First, understand that there are "cabins" and "cottages" at this property. The cabins are hand-hewn log structures that were relocated from Kentucky and Tennessee to the grounds of the Cotton Gin Village. Whereas the much newer cottages are constructed with either San Saba stone, or plaster and timber in a style reminiscent of Texas Hill Country German Fachwerk. They blend well together to provide a very relaxing and welcoming "village" environment. We were greeted at the check in area and were quickly escorted to our cabin and provided all the necessary information, to include a wonderful bottle of wine that was custom labeled to celebrate our anniversary. Our Pedernales Cabin is one of the original cabins and as such had a real "old time" feel, but was also complete with the comforts you'd expect (king size bed, A/C, microwave, fridge, shower, bath, TV, etc.) While the comforts of home are there, one of the issues we had was with the water closet (toilet) that was extremely narrow with very little room to maneuver as needed to the point of almost being claustrophobic. Navigating around the furniture in the dark at night to use the bathroom is a bit tricky, so be prepared to do so slowly and carefully. That aside, a drink or two at the Gin Mill bar (located on site) topped our evening off nicely. The bartender Brett was amazing and a joy to chat with. Retreating back to our cabin, we were excited to experience the breakfast the next morning. The bed was very comfortable, but the pillows (for me) were too fat and I had a hard time trying to flatten one to accommodate my neck issues (no biggie really). The room was quiet and comfortable. Some folks have indicated that the road noise is unbearable, but I can only speak for the Pedernales Cabin, which was very quiet with no road noise at all. We anxiously awaited the 9:00 delivery the next morning, which promptly arrived at 8:50. I've included a video of the basket reveal to show what the contents were. The breakfast was wonderful! A fluffy quiche with ham, bacon, and cheese along with some chocolate croissants, yogurt, fresh fruit, and juice. We filled up and prepared for our day of wine tasting with Keidel Wine Tours (a separate review). After a busy wine tasting day, another drink with Brett at the Gin Mill, and dinner at the Cabernet Grill (another separate review) we came back and settled in with a little left over wine we purchased relaxing on the front porch swing to enjoy the evening. Another great night's sleep awaited us. Expecting another scrumptious breakfast, we were disappointed with the second day's offerings. Inside the basket was a (very tasty but way too sweet) French Toast offering that had chunks of French Toast covered in caramelized topping and baked in the oven. We couldn't finish it due to the excessive sweetness. This was accompanied by 2 sausage links and a couple small slices of ham (not bacon as listed on the breakfast card), that had good flavor, but were just too darn salty to eat. So we enjoyed the fruit and yogurt instead. Another faux pas was that unlike our first morning's basket, there were no napkins included inside the basket. We made do with the paper towels from the kitchen sink area, so it worked out. It just seems to me that second day breakfast did not have as much attention paid to it as day 1. Overall, it was a wonderful 2 nights spent on the property, even with the breakfast issue on day 2. We will definitely return to check out one of the other cabins or cottages in the future. Atmosphere - 10/10 Service - 10/10 Food (breakfast) - 9/10 Comfort - 9/10 Overall - 9.5/10

Only thing I will say is that we were there on a windy day so you can hear everything outside. The room comes stocked with so much kitchenware so we made a fire and cooked our steak dinner while the sun was setting. They also have a bbq grill if you don't want to make a fire. We came a little unprepared with no food but the campsite has lots of meal kits that you can cook. We got two steaks, eggs, and some bacon. Everything tastes great cooked by a camp fire! Will definitely want to come back for another day in the future.

It was amazing - almost 360-degree views of the Hill Country, privacy on the ranch property, and a huge fenced-in yard with fire-pit and grill so we could spend the day outside with our dogs. The house is fully stocked and could have easily fit multiple families, so it felt palatial with just the two of us and the dogs. The ranch land around the house was perfect for hiking and when we'd explored that, we just ventured to the Northern Tract to explore some more. The neighboring town of Blanco was so much fun - wine, great BBQ and fantastic little farm to table and brunch spots near the town square. And the location is an easy drive from Austin, but situated so that Fredericksburg and Johnson City are an easy day-trip. Loved the Log Home and staying with the Lighthouse Hill Ranch family was so easy and stress-free, thank you! We'll be back for sure!

We really only heard traffic during the day, it was pretty quiet at night, and day traffic didn't bother us. We stayed in Winterberry, and we sat on the cute porch in the evening with citronella (my boyfriend is a mosquito magnet, lol) and lightning bugs. The bed was a little more firm than we were expecting, but we still slept fine. I should also preface that we sleep with a box fan on low for white noise. We were there during the week so there wasn't really any noise from other guests, only a few people were there. I will make note that you can see straight down into Winterberry from the door of the second floor cabin next door. We forgot to tell Debbie, the manager, about that, but it can easily be fixed with a simple window covering. There was no one in that room while we were there so it wasn't a big deal. Debbie was truly delightful, very sweet. She brought the biscuit basket we ordered for our final morning. The biscuits were really very good, they come in the cutest setup, with the biscuits sitting on a bread warmer. Great experience overall. If we vacation in Fredericksburg again, we will definitely stay here.

The cabin is well appointed with everything you need and super clean. The daily breakfast is so delicious and the owners are open to dietary modifications if you need them. We stayed in The Roost cabin and ate on the back porch each morning. If you get up early you can have your coffee on the front porch while watching the deer. Or watch them while enjoying a glass of wine at dusk. I'm sure we'll be back as the cabins are close enough to Fredericksburg to see the sights but far enough in the country to give you time to slow down and enjoy the peace and quiet.

Steve and Glenda (the property owners) were AWESOME. So kind and welcoming from the minute we arrived. When we pulled up to our cabin and got out we were greeted by a friendly bunch of chickens, they actually ran up to greet us. :o) The cabin was picturesque... there was a screened in sitting area on the back porch with comfy rocking chairs and additional chairs and a beautiful covered front porch with rocking chairs and a chiminea. When we walked in the cabin looked just as it did in the pictures online. Beautifully decorated and very clean. A king sized bed in the main area with a small kitchen equipped with; microwave, small refrigerator (freezer had 2 ice trays and fridge had 4 waters), plates, wine glasses and opener, cups, coffee mugs, keurig (coffee, tea bags, creamer and sugar), dish washing soap, etc. The bathroom was the perfect size with a walk in shower (it was very clean). The loft upstairs was perfect, again very clean and super cute. It is a small space but perfect for climbing in for a good nights sleep. There was an oscillating fan in the loft which helped with the air circulation. Very cozy! Both beds were very comfortable. There was a flat screen smart TV in the main area, we were able to watch Netflix or regular television. The AC worked great. In the evening we sat on the front porch and had a fire in the chiminea. Steve and Glenda stopped us on our way in on our first night there and asked how we liked our eggs prepared, they also asked if we had any dietary restrictions. They told us that they would deliver our breakfast to our door the next morning between 8:30am-9am. The next morning they were right on time and did not disappoint. A beautiful display (see picture)... fresh eggs, bacon, breakfast potatoes, homemade biscuits, homemade apple butter (to die for), fresh squeezed orange juice. It was a WONDERFUL, down to each little detail. The next morning we had another great breakfast... fresh eggs, sausage links, french toast w/ strawberries and bananas, walnuts and more fresh squeezed orange juice. Glenda also made us a sweet treat (individual chocolate lava cakes) that Steve delivered to us on Saturday afternoon. YUM! We had a memorable weekend in Fredericksburg... a wonderful place to stay, a great wine tour (290 Wine Shuttle), good food and laughs. I will come back and stay at this beautiful place again. From the moment that you enter the gate at the end of the drive way you see the beauty of the area and feel the serenity . Tim and Rose are both extremely friendly people who truly love their life and the place they call home. Each of them takes pride in the responsibilities they have and in the business they have created. This is evident from the cozy design and decorating of the barn and adjacent cottages, to the care of their animals and land. The accommodation were amazing ; clean, comfortable and included everything we needed. In fact , we are planning another stay in just a few weeks. I can not write this review without mentioning the amazing breakfast baked by Rose!! Everything was delicious! There are a plethora of things to do in the area.
