My colleagues and I enjoyed an evening at Odeum; it was truly a gastronomic delight. Owner/chef Sal offered us a tasting menu, which gave us the chance to enjoy 6-7 different smaller portioned dishes. The flavors and sauces of each dish paired perfectly with the texture of the main ingredient. Sal and staff were also very hospitable and friendly, which made us feel like we are family. Odeum is a great venue to go to celebrate special occasions for both work and private moments. read more

Great meal here last night! We were a business group of about 12 and were able to pre-order a great family meal--convenient and efficient. Stuffed mushrooms were awesome and the octopus was delicious. Steak was perfect, risotto the same. Service was prompt and friendly. All in all--great experience! read more

I don't live in MH but have been to this place several times over the years and have never been disappointed. They have been super consistent. The other day my husband and I were passing through and the first place we were going to stop put us on hold for 15 minutes and we gave up. I was reminded of Odeum on Yelp but it was 7 minutes before closing. I called and the lady who answered the phone was so nice and said it was no problem and took our order. That was great, but on top of it the food was the best I've had in a LONG TIME. I forgot how good their Gyros are, talk about melt in your mouth!!! They are huge, but I couldn't help myself and ate the entire thing . I just couldn't stop, it was so delicious. 5 stars for amazing food and amazing service. So very hard to find right now! read more

Hands down one of our favorite double date night locations in MH. We have our favorite starters and mains that just blow our minds. Try the stuffed mushrooms and the skirt steak. Pizza's are yum and the wine list is very nice, they always have our favorite bottle of red on hand. read more

Food was excellent! Bruschetta - one of the best I've eaten Tzatziki - very good and the bread that came with it was very tasty and properly seasoned Filet - prepared medium and it was the best medium I've ever seen. Pink and not bloody. Gelato with Moscato - great (if it arrives on time) Service - Subtract 3 stars. This place would have been a 5 star experience if Enrique, our waiter, had actually treated us appropriately and served us in a timely, polite and professional manner. As it was, it felt rushed as if he couldn't wait for us to leave so he could have his second seating for the night. At other times it felt hostile and unprofessional. I ordered a 2016 Caymus from the wine list and Enrique brought a 2017 Caymus. Not a problem....honest mistake. I noticed the discrepancy and told him about it and goes to check if they have the 2016. He comes back and tells me they don't but that they're both young wines and you won't notice the difference. I told him I'll order a different bottle of wine. Yes, Enrique, they are both young and not necessarily the same price or same taste and you shouldn't try to swindle your customers for $185 bottle of wine from a different year!!! We ordered some Gelato for dessert WITH THE additional wine pairings and it was brought over by the hostess without the wine. We asked Enrique where the wine was and he said it will be a few minutes because the bar was too busy. Well then why the heck did you have the gelato brought over? So I can watch it melt while I wait for the wine pairing? Why order a pairing if you can't pair it with something? Argh!!! I'll be back here for sure. The food is excellent and there is great attention to detail in it's preparation. But, if they try to seat me with Enrique again, I'll bolt for the door and head to McDonald's. read more

Good food, mediocre service with an automatic 20% service charge included and taxed. I personally have no problem tipping over 20% on great service. We visited on a Sunday eve 6pm. The service would get a 5/10 at best. Staff were forgetting drinks, checkups etc. and it was not very busy. I feel like the automatic 20% tip they now include for staff, gives them no more reason to strive for excellence. I've always been told this: "poor quality food can be saved by excellent service, but unfortunately the best food in the world cannot be saved by poor service". read more

Odeum - [Morgan Hill] - My lunch was very tasty and a generous serving - Mediterranean Near Me - Morgan Hill, California

Last night was a big night for me personally with my girlfriend we sat outside around 8:30-close. The burning outside lamp was changed out and placed right next to our table, they actually took the time to find one that works and didn't give up to just seat us inside. First time I've had a restaurant bring out two blankets as well, it was actually a nice touch. The service was outstanding as well as the camaraderie! I think this restaurant complements couples very well as well as up to 4 people. Making reservations were super easy even though we called twice to reschedule, it was not a problem what so ever. The dish to get there is hands down the pork chop saltimbocca, one order can feed two people comfortably. If you're extra hungry that night then it will fill your needs plus have a little extra left over. I've had it twice now and it's been equally amazing each time. Good place to dress up a little and have a great indoor or outdoor sit down dinner with someone special. read more

For the "Fine Dinning" prices, I expect FAR better restaurant quality, better food quality and better service. To begin, the ambiance was terrible, came in for a luncheon, no table clothes, only server was a middle age women that I had to approach not once, but twice just to get her attention to order water. She was annoyed that we asked for the appetizer plates be cleaned off the table, and we continuously had to holler to the bartender to get service. When our appetizers arrived, the bread was burnt, all you could see was black char and she put it on the table and didn't make eye contact with anyone, so I paid that much for the quintet of a tablespoon of each dip and burnt bread. Music was too loud, our party of 10 could barley converse with eachother, and a terrible choice of music. The entrees are the only reason I didn't give this a 1 star, the entrees arrived late, but all were delicious and flavorful. Odeum seems to be catering to the older folks these days and not the patrons that are there for the good 'ol times we used to have there. Really unfortunate how down hill it's gone. read more

Can't imagine why this place doesn't have 5 stars based on the food alone!! If I'm honest the service was a bit slow. But there were 6 of us and we were eating, drinking, talking and catching up. I really think it was well paced for what we were doing. I don't think the wait staff was rude just maybe inexperienced. Our server Jerry was kind, but a little clumsy I found it to be endearing. We sat outside and it was a beautiful day for lunch. We ordered apps for the table: Risotto stuffed mushrooms (beyond amazing) Burrata (literally to die for) Sausage (I didn't try because I don't like fennel) Calamari (light airy and delicious) With our entrees I was told the soup Of the day was lentil and pork belly. I was not too thrilled about it but decided to give it a try. But when the server arrived with the soup it was tomato basil which I was totally okay with! The soup was rich, with cheese and croutons that were delightful. I had to stop eating it to save room for my entree. Oh boy was it yummy though. For my entree I had the gnocchi bolongese! The gnocchi was pure perfection! Perfectly seasoned and melt in your mouth tender. The bolognese was the best that I have ever had. At the table I was able to sample the swordfish, cheese steak gyro, calzone, shrimp and sausage pasta. My least favorite being the pasta. read more

My husband decided to take me out to a restaurant in Morgan Hill call Odeum, it is supposed to have a Michelin-star chef. We went out April 15, and he called to make reservations and gave explicit information on the table that we would get would be private. The girl insured me there should be no problem and she would be putting us in a private booth for our dinner reservations. When we arrive there, they had a really bad mix-up and apparently gave our private table to another dining guest. We were extremely disappointed and then the girl gave us another option and we chose another table to find out that the table they had set aside was reserved for someone else. At this point I was already very discouraged but I try to keep a good face for my husband since he went to all the trouble to make us reservations at this particular restaurant. When they sat us down they set us up against a table surrounded by other tables which was very, very, noisy. On top of all that we were ignored for about 15 minutes like we were intruding on so called five-star restaurant, not! When our server finally came (I believe his name was Chris) to our table just through the menu down, which had smudges on the top and pages falling out but did not give us a beverage menu. We then had to flag someone down to ask for a beverage menu. We were so uncomfortable at this point but we try to keep a good face since this restaurant had high ratings. Finally, when our server came over we placed our order with him we realize that we were not happy at all got no water as we requested so again we flag down one of their busboys and asked to speak to the manager. Lo and behold their manager was our server which made us more shocked to know the quality of how he manages things. I explain to him what it happened when we came in how they messed up our reservations and we were not happy with that seat so he moved us to another area, there was another server there by the name of Gerry which was not the manager. He then took over assisting us he was not only amazingly pleasant professional and kind he should've been the manager. As the night went on Gerry our server continued to wait on us and we kind of joked with him and said you deserve a good tip. We came to find out that he would not be getting a tip he was doing when he was instructed to do by the manager. As the manager was our original server, Gerry would not be getting any of the tip which would be quite large because this is an expensive restaurant. My husband and I were very upset at this. Although this might be a Michelin-star restaurant there is much to be desired and the atmosphere very noisy. Although we must say the food was good, but I wish we would've had went to Vin Santo in Willow Glen instead. Chef Umberto at Vin Santo should be a Michelin star chef he is way better at everything he cooks and they are professional and make you feel welcome and like you are at home when you are there. I guess you live and learn. The manager at the Odeum restaurant in Morgan Hill is very arrogant and cocky. It's really sad for the owners to have this manager represent their restaurant. My husband and I usually prefer to write good reviews about restaurants and not bad ones and we are definitely foodies and have eaten at several restaurants as well as Michelin-star restaurant. But the way that we were treated at this restaurant upset me so much, especially when I had such high expectations after going to Michelin-star restaurants in the past, such as Luce in San Francisco or upscale gourmet restaurants such as the Herb Farm in Woodinville Washington, I had to write this review. If you want A cold, unpleasant atmosphere, you're willing to put up with that kind of treatment, and pay the extreme high prices for what I would call a three-star restaurant then that is your place. But it's not for us!!! read more

Worth every penny. Food is flavorful, staff is attentive, atmosphere is warm and romantic. Go here..you won't be disappointed.

Love it here. Great for special occasions or a sit down lunch. Trendy inside with a light airy feeling outside on the lower patio. Very attentive & friendly staff. Everything on the menu is delish & the portions are BIG!! Our family's fav is the chicken & waffles, so good. Recommend the brunch bloody mary's too. Definitely a hidden gem in Morgan Hill. read more

I definitely will not be eating here again! My girlfriend & I went for lunch and asked for water w/ lemon which consisted of an uncapped plastic bottle poured into our glasses. My girlfriend asked for separate checks to make things easier as she was also ordering food to go. When we received our checks we were both charged $5 each for the water and each had an automatic 20% service charge added to our receipt! Don't get me wrong I tip 20-30%-but I like to be the one to decide and it was just plain water folks! read more

We had dinner last night. The service was excellent. And the food could have easily been excellent, but was very, very salty. I don't understand why restaurants over salt their food, when they could easily place a salt cellar on the table for those who like salt. I had tacos at Willard Hicks tonight and they were fine. Odeum: please back off on the salt!! You have such good food and you are ruining it. read more

Love the food and environment this restaurant never disappoints no matter the occasion

Morgan Hill needs more fancy restaurants. I think this place is only rated highly because it's the only one around. It would never survive higher up the peninsula. First thing we noticed when we walked in the door was a metal bin of pre-cooked pita bread under a heat lamp and fake candles everywhere. Our waiter was very nice and was the best thing about the evening. We sat down, ordered his recommended appetizers and a bottle of wine. Lady arrives shortly with the wrong appetizer. She then returns with it saying it actually is the right one and she just didn't know what it was at first. Our lamb chops and skirt steak arrives and everything is way over salted. Then we order the famous brownie cheesecake which takes so long the waiter brings us complimentary dessert wine. Then someone brings out the wrong dessert again (this time it really is wrong). Finally it arrives and we were both very underwhelmed. Sure, there was a bunch of fancy shit on it, but it was stale popcorn and globs of caramel and a flower. This place just doesn't go the extra step to create a fine dining atmosphere. It should be half the price for what you get. read more

My family and I had dinner at Odeum restaurant tonight. We had frequented it on many special occasions in the past. Tonight We were seated right next to the kitchen area with full view of the kitchen as well as where the owner sat with his laptop in front of the kitchen. We thought all was going well until we experienced the owner, Salvatore Calisi, not wearing a mask, sitting next to all the meals coming out of the kitchen and "touching" individual meals, licking his fingers and going on to the next plate! I confronted him, but his arrogance kept us from having an adult conversation about my family's observance and discontentment with his actions. He didn't have the professionalism to come to our table to apologize or take ownership of his actions. He told me "his staff would take care of any issues." Unfortunately, he didn't take care of anything, nor did our waiter. Our $400 bill was a huge disappointment. We will never revisit this restaurant and we advise you all to definitely spend your $$ elsewhere. read more

One of a few gems in Morgan Hill. Last night we had a wonderful experience at Odeum. The atmosphere is beautiful, relaxing and romantic. The food was outstanding. Here's what we ordered: - calamari - risotto stuffed mushrooms - beet salad - strip steak - filet - crusted ahi - Portuguese cupcake - lemon tart - cinnamon roll dessert (special) Absolutely everything was phenomenal. I have been to Odeum more than ten times, all of which, service was sub par, but the food made up for it. Tonight, was enough to keep me from returning to this restaurant for quite some time. Not only was the service bad, but everything from the hostess to the management was poor. The server was obviously stretched thin, and didn't have the time to attend to his tables, even though he was seen basically running from table to table. After almost an hour since our food order with no food, we flagged down a manager to check on our food, to which he apologized, and said the "kitchen was slow today". An hour for a meal slow? He then disappeared and a buss boy delivered our food 15 minutes later never to be seen again. All the while both our drinks and water were empty which no one cared to check on. At the end of the night our bill was $170 and we both left extremely upset. This place should be embarrassed. read more

Gave this place a try over 6 times & it's a MAJOR BUST. Service is TERRIBLE, food is sub-par, and can't make excuses for this place anymore. The last & final straw was when we had a table for 20 people for a birthday. The Waiter was dedicated to our table only... we had to request EVERY time we wanted a drink, water, or any other request. The Bartender, who was within ear-shot of our table kept making comments to waiter about our table (we were not loud or drunk). When we paid our check (in-Cash) and gave to waiter...as we got up to walk out, the Bartender stated we had short-changed the Bill by $300. I told him that I counted it multiple times & that we left several hundred dollars as a tip. He said we were lying & told waiter to stop us. I demanded he open the register, as I saw him place the entire stack of cash in drawer WITHOUT COUNTING. He initially refused, but after pressing further, he & our waiter opened the register & counted... then said "Oops, I guess it's all here". I wanted to love this place, but it's SUCH A DISAPPOINTMENT & tired of being ignored by service staff, and for average food. N-E-V-E-R *A-G-A-I-N-!!!! read more

Previously we have had better experiences at Odeum. Today, we had a reservation for 7:30pm and didn't get seated till after 8:30. 2 out of 3 entrees were inedible (the fish was exceptionally bad). Well, family went for Sunday brunch, and it was an off day for the cooks I guess. This is post "fishgate" and maybe they all haven't found their sea legs yet. The little croissants that are served with the strawberry spread had an odd smoked taste to them.Other diners were sending theirs back because of this off flavor. My daughter and I ordered the gyros, three others ordered the chicken and waffles, and my granddaughter had a nicely composed vegan plate. All the food came out pretty much at the same time, except for my daughters gyro...we were almost finished with our meal when hers finally arrived. This is blunder that should not occur at a restaurant that is charging what they do for a gyro. We might return, but the reputation of Odeum has taken a well deserved hit, and my family is not too happy with their ethics. read more

My mother in law chose this restaurant for her birthday dinner so we all buckled up and drove to Morgan Hill. I have to admit I thought the parking and restaurant would be bigger because you would think there is plenty of real estate in Morgan Hill. The restaurant is in a granery downtown so there is limited lot parking as well as street. The seating is a cozy room indoors or a medium sandy outdoor area (wish this area had some kind of hard surface instead like concrete). We were immediately seated outside around 6 PM on a Saturday. This place is Mediterranean food so I was hoping for pita bread but all you get are olives (don't care for) and bread sticks in a package which seemed kind of cheap. When I glanced over the menu, frankly there wasn't anything that was really in my realm of things I would want to order or eat. I love places like Opa! so it's not anything to do with mediterranean food. I ended up getting a make your own pizza. It tasted really good with extra cheese, bacon, and proscuitto, but pizza is pizza. I wouldn't drive all the way to Morgan Hill for that alone. I also tried the crab cakes and calamari which were really flavorful and probably my favorite things. My husband ordered the gnocchi bolognese which tasted good but there was too much meat sauce. It also was served in a giant taco shell which seemed odd. Our server was very nice but there were quite a few mistakes made that night and for the price of the food ($150 for their special!) and the drive I would expect better service. The waitor gave out the drinks to the wrong people, spilled a beer on my sister in law which leaked onto her new shoes, and my sister in law had asked for no feta cheese on her dish but was served the dish with feta, which, once melted can't be removed unless you toss the whole dish which would be a waste. All in all, the locale is pretty but in every other way I was left unimpressed. There wasn't really any reason my husband and I would drive out that far to eat, not counting the service issues. I'm willing to pay whatever for a good meal but if the menu has only one thing on it I even remotely like then we probably will not be back. read more

Good food and excellent dessert. A little salty in my opinion, and I have a high salt tolerance. Overall worth going to.

Absolutely stellar. The caliber of food and drinks coming out of here is amazing. Hubby and I have been to many michelin starred restaurants, no idea how this one doesnt have one yet. An unpretentious little restaurant pumping out some major league food. The greek cuisine, from the appetizers to the entrees and dessert, all delicious. I don't mean small-portion-big-flavor delicious, but grasp-your-fork-and-knife-and-unbutton-the-top-button-of-your-pants delicious. The menu is seasonal, so what you had on the last visit may or may not be available this time, but nonetheless, still tasty as heck. Hubby's a big bourbon guy, and if he had the chance he'd probably come here just for the craft cocktails. There's a small bar area that seats maybe a handful of people, wish it was a larger bar but it gives you a reason to sit in the dining room and enjoy a meal as well. The tzatkiki, a must for appetizer (if thats what you like... we definitely like). I had the stuffed mushrooms with rizotto, it was a little salty and fairly decadent, so this dish is good for sharing. The gnocchi is a healthy portion, delicate and filling. the fish is always fresh and we normally finish off with the gelato. The meringue that comes with the gelato was a bit sweet for our liking, but we ate around it, heh. Service is of course, top notch. We've never come here without a reservation, but every time we've come, there was a wait behind us. We will continue to come as long as we can afford it, lol. read more
