We frequent this place often and have never had an issue of poor cinema etiquette amongst our fellow movie goers. However, poor planning of putting the theatre in the same indoor shopping/entertainment mall as two dance clubs (Retro is next door as well) means you hear the thumping bass of music throughout your movie through the walls. Considering how much you pay for a movie - and that what you are paying for is the "experience" - this is enough to keep me from ever coming back on a Friday or Saturday night again. Warning: Due to the aforementioned nearby businesses, if you go in for an early, 7 or 8 p.m. show on the weekends, brace yourself to exit to a street full drunk 18 year olds, shouting, wobbling and giggling their way around. Whirledart is a collection of artists studios that opens its doors from time to time to allow the general public in to see the best of the work produced within. I saw that I'd missed the latest open weekend but was intrigued by the mention of Whirled Cinema, offering interesting and unusual films to view for free on Friday and Saturday nights. The site told me they were open to their artists and friends, so after emailing to check that I, a random stranger, was also welcome (they said I was) I mosied on down there one Friday night with my boyfriend. We were pleased to find everyone was really friendly and welcoming to newcomers. The films are shown in a really cool space under the railway arch on a big screen with excellent sound, and there are some very comfy bench seats to recline on. A small bar at the back of the room is a welcome addition to an already vibey place. It's sometimes hard to believe that independent places like Whirled exist in this town, surrounded as we are by Odeons and Vues charging £8 and more for a cinema ticket. The friendly, open attitude and generosity of the guys who run the place is to be applauded, and they seemed keen for more people to show up to the screenings. If you treat the place with respect you'll be welcome - just make sure you buy a drink at the bar to say thank you. Luxury is the name of their game, however I think they have missed the mark, a little bit. Upon entry it has a very polished retro feel, plus furniture in the lobby area, multiple seating areas, the bar is well proportioned in relation to the space. I'm sure some people may actually go there just to sit have a drink and catch up!! I think there are 4 screens and the film I went to see was in screen 4, which is upstairs. Ordering the food and drink was nice and simple, apart from no sweet popcorn at the upstairs bar!! So had to go back downstairs to get popcorn but they did bring it up form me. Staff were helpful and professional, the seats in the actual cinema were comfortable, I'm sure they will feel less stiff as they get more bums on seats!! Now at the beginning of this I said they have missed the mark 'a little bit'. I say this as with all Everyman cinemas they bring food and drink to you, if that's what you request, this is where they missed the mark. They, in my opinion, didn't leave enough walkway space between the seats so when people are walking past to get to their seats it's very 'snug'. So when staff bring food and drinks it's a bit of a trial. Hence only 4 stars from me. That aside if you've never been to an Everyman. It is an experience but remember this isn't Vue or Oden and that is reflected in the price of tickets food etc etc. Worthwhile going as a treat to yourself or someone special in your life.

The choice of films is minimal and the seats are uncomfortable, giving little leg room. I would avoid this cinema, in favour of many others but it's always good to have these places locally. I just wish someone would keep it in better condition. The location is good with lots of bars and restaurants around so it's easy to build in a film with a night out on Bromley.

It's a picture house cinema which means that along side blockbusters they show independent and art house films and are often host to international film festivals. Providing your date isn't of complete waste man caliber, it's also very romantic. The main screen is an old theatre with lots of red, plush seats, high ceiling with fancy ornamental gold bits all over it. They also have a fully stocked bar and sell all the best kinds of ice cream and home made cakes which is useful if your date has the munchies.
