I was in town for work and stopped in here. Another great ocracoke gem. This is Ocracoke. Think of the best coffee house you have been to, then add a great island porch, that leads out to an island front yard - where there are more bikes parked in the parking lot than cars. The lines are long. The food is great. The service is hip. Grab a book and a beach chair, and pretend to read while you people watch or say hello to the dogs. read more

We have been coming to Ocracoke Island for many years and one of the highlights of our trip every year was to go almost daily to Ocracoke coffee everyone was always very friendly there and upbeat however this year we have been in three days in a row the first day the coffee was great but the staff was obviously arguing with each other, The next two days the coffee was just mediocre and the staff is not very friendly anymore, I miss the old atmosphere the The staff left you with the impression they enjoyed their job and appreciated your patronage! read more

Been in line for over 28 minutes, still have 5 people in front of me, only 2 people behind the counter, woman with curly blond hair and guy with shirt hair and stripe t shirt, while 2 other employees hang out with their friends on the couch watching videos. This is our 5th summer coming to Ocracoke for vacation. This used to be one of my favorite stops (I have the hats and shirts to prove it). I've noticed a decline in the customer service over the last couple of years with this year being the worst. It's simply not worth waiting the 25-30 minutes in a ridiculously long line only to be met with zero warmth or manners for a very basic cup of coffee. The employees act as though they are less than thrilled to be there and just want to be done with you. You have to ask for things like a bag for your merchandise or even a lid for your iced coffee - never mind a carrying tray. I've never expected this to be Starbucks, I'm fine with mixing my own coffee but the complete lack of professionalism leaves a lot to be desired. This used to be the only stop for descent coffee or smoothies. I am happy to see other worthy options have opened. I'm truly disappointed to see this great place become such an unpleasant experience. read more

After a week on Hatteras island, we took the ferry over to Ocracoke for the day. After an early start to the day, we were in desperate need of some good coffee and some light snacks. The coffee is great. Very, very good. My husband enjoyed the baked goods - I am gluten free so I couldn't have any. However, the abusive person who waited on me was intolerable. He was rude beyond belief. I have been coming to Ocracoke Coffee since it opened - probably 25 years, I guess. My daughter even worked there for several summers. I know it changed owners several years ago. The new owners should take a hard look at their employees. This guy was by far the nastiest person who has ever waited on me in my life. So unnecessary. I was talking to someone who lived on the Island and they said they had quit going there because of the employees. Such a shame. read more

So there I was on vacation with the fam a few weeks ago, and I found myself up before anyone else--even the kids, which is a rarity. Having read Yelp reviews on virtually every business on the island, I decided to try out the Ocracoke Coffee Co. I arrived before the place crowded up--which it VERY much does!--so I had my choice of seating: on the patio, on the lawn, indoors on couches or chairs, or also indoor tables near lots of loaded bookshelves. I chose the patio. I'm a very plain coffee drinker, so I got a large cup of their lightest roast. Their coffees vary day to day, but they always had a wonderful choice for me. The pastries, aaah, the PASTRIES!! Wonderful to look at and taste awesome! Again, the selections change day to day, so if you find something you adore, get all you can 'cause they may not have it tomorrow. They also have a great selection of teas, and then there are the smoothies...So tasty you want to go YIPPEE!!...which I'm sure they wouldn't mind as they are very accustomed to tourists. I enjoyed my first experience there so much that I returned every morning of the remainder of our vacation. Do check this place out! read more

good for vegans on the island. they take all the bagels away at 12p, and sometimes they run out way before. they should stock more. they have soy milk for coffee. they have a big bowl of chocolate chips at the cream and sugar station-not sure if they're vegan, but i thought it was a nice touch anyways. best vegan breakfast on the island-smoothies-yum. loved the very scary berry. i hate over sugared smoothies and this one wasn't. it was fruity, refreshing, and nutritious. when i was extra hungry i would add soy protein. nice kids that work there for the most part. they sometimes have yummy vegan scones. I had two cinnamon sugar ones yum...oh, and the coffee is good, probably the best on the island. read more

We were pretty desperate before we found OCC. Had taken an early ferry from Hateras figuring we would do breakfast on Ocracoke. That turned out to be a big joke. We drove around forever before we stumbled on this place and what a relief. We like coffee straight up and strong and that's pretty much what we got. Bagels were good too and the people were all happy! Not that they need any more business (the line snaked around the shop but really didn't take all that long), they need better signs from the main road. read more
