Love, love, love this locally owned coffee shop on Ocracoke Island. My sister and I go to the OBX a few times a year and every couple years we go over to Ocracoke. This is ALWAYS our first stop on the island as soon as we get off the ferry. The food is homemade, and the drinks are handcrafted while you wait. The ambiance is everything you'd want on an island: luscious jasmine hanging all over the front door, creaking floorboards under your feet, a homey inside feel, a great outside patio (with more jasmine!) with lots of seating and sunshine. They sell merch as well, so be sure to pick up a shirt or mug. read more

Absolutely horrible experience. We did not want coffee. Just bakery items. We waited in line for about 45 minutes. Walked past the coffee counter and got to the bakery section. They continued to take the coffee orders behind us and pulling the bakery items the people behind us requested. I got the attention of one of the workers and explained that we are next in line and just wanted to order bakery items. She apologized that we were skipped and went to the back. Completely ignoring us as the workers continued to take orders and serve everyone behind us. When the worker serving people behind us came to grab the bakery items for the people behind us, I once again mentioned to her that we were in front of everyone and just wanted to order food items. She said ok and continued to ask the people behind us what else they wanted from the bakery. The people behind us asked for the last two items left that we had been waiting on. At that point, they took what we were about to order, so we decided to just leave. Worst customer service I have ever experienced. read more

Cute coffee shop . It's a must try when visiting the island. Very busy we waited in a really longggg line but it was worth it. They don't have a lot of gluten free options for food but the coffee was on point. Get up early and go early cause it gets really busy! My boyfriend and I came to Ocracoke two years ago and stopped here for coffee before catching the ferry back. But, it was so busy with the line about out the door. It's the only coffee shop on the island, so we should've expected this. We had to leave without coffee, but this year we came back and finally got our cups! My boyfriend got nuts and jolts, which was perfectly sweet and nutty! I got the chili with hazelnut, which was also amazing. Our bed and breakfast said either go 15 min before they open or wait until after 9 if you don't want to wait 30 minutes. They also recommended the pastries, so we got a chocolate croissant to share, which was great. We went around 11:30, with about a 15 minute wait. They gave unique decor inside with lots of little coffee signs with sayings, merch for sale, and vintage looking couches. If you're a coffee or pastry lover, it's sure worth the wait! read more

Their prices are crazy high and the owner jumped all over me because I had (mistakenly) put my feet on the coffee table as I was sitting on the couch. I shouldn't have done this but gee...a bit of an over reaction. Something you should know about Ocracoke Island... the natives rely upon the money the tourists bring in but they absolutely HATE the tourists-it comes out in just about every interaction you will have with the locals. The coffee is good -- but there is a 20-30 minute every morning. They could streamline service simply by having customers order when they walk in. This way, if you're in line behind someone ordering ten smoothies, and you're only getting an iced coffee -- you're not waiting for half an hour. Be prepared to wait but it's a pretty cool spot! We came in two separate times during our stay in Ocracoke. Both times we waited 30-50 minutes. It's definitely a popular place but the line moves fairly fast for all the fancy coffee drinks and smoothies the staff is making. There are lots of cozy sitting areas inside and plenty of outdoor seating. And besides drinks they have pastries, muffins and bagels. Our family has been staying on Ocracoke on and off for over 20 years now. And it's never a visit to the island without a visit to this cute, floral coffee shop off one of the back roads on the island. The bakery has some great options. The cinnamon rolls and croissants are a personal favorite, but I've never had a bakery item that I didn't enjoy here. The only thing I don't like is the service in the coffee shop is always hit-or-miss. They're either really friendly or really rude. And during the off-season, the shop is usually closed before noon time so being early is almost crucial, despite not being a huge morning person. I understand it's an island vibe and it's not like you're going to find a lot of other options elsewhere. But I come here for the hot teas, chai tea lattes and the yummy smoothies. This is one of my favorite spots on the island. I was able to experience new items to me like bacon-jalapeño cream cheese for my asiago cheese bagel and what is essentially a monster muffin. By far the best place to hang out in Ocracoke. It's nice to cycle here from my hotel, get a wonderful coffee and a muffin, then curl up in a corner to read a book or take in the ambiance. Free wifi makes this place doubly hard to leave. If my family didn't want to go to the beach or explore the island, I think I could easily stay in here all morning. Ocracoke Coffee Co is probably the only place open on the island at 7am and it was busy! Fortunately, the Ocracoke Coffee Co was ready for the crowds and well staffed with lots of friendly baristas. We are both simple coffee drinkers so we enjoyed a medium roast brewed coffee and I had a delicious cinnamon bun. The front porch was bustling so we enjoyed our coffee and pastry in the back of the living room like space. It was confusing to figure out which door to enter. There is a door on the side/back to says use the back door but the crowds were pouring in the front door. I'm a rule follower so I was really concerned about whether I was using the right door! Aside from that initial confusion, everything was good! If I return to Ocracoke Island, I would definitely return to this coffee shop. read more

I really wanted to love this place as the ambiance is fun and welcoming but the staff ruined it for us. Of the 3 ladies working while we were there, only one smiled. I can hear them complaining to each other while we were in the long line. When we were up to order, I asked a couple questions about their coffee and she responded as if I am wasting her time and holding up the line. Finally at the register, we asked if they do free coffee refills for the house blends and she responded that they do. I drank half my coffee and since it was cold from adding creamer I decided to take her up on the refill to warm it back up. She filled my half cup and walks over to the register and rings me up for a new drink. I reminded her that she told my husband and me that there isn't a charge and her response was "no, I told you that we HAVE refills". What the heck does that mean? You should say, we charge for refills, not, yes, we have refills! If you didn't communicate properly then you should have just given me the half cup of house coffee, rather than have me upset and embarrassed and not want to return to your establishment. Not sure that half cup was worth a disappointed customer but since this place seems to always have lines, they probably don't care about my complaint, anyway. read more

The last trip, the guy at the counter made me feel like crap. I asked him which smoothie was the most sweet. (we wanted to give some sips of it to our sick 15 month old who needed fluids and didn't have much of an appetite) He looked at me like I was an idiot for asking the question, and because I didn't know how to pronounce the protein shot for my wife's smoothie. They also have a relaxing indoor seating area where you can kick back on one of their couches and read a nice book from their bookshelves. I've been going to the coffee house for 20+ years and, while it's changed quite a bit between changing ownership and post-hurricane flooding (as can be expected), it's maintained its quality and service the entire time. Their coffee is the best on the island (I'm a big fan of all of their dark brews) and the selection of pastries they offer will never disappoint. It's one of my favorite places on tne island and I have a lot of great childhood memories there, so it'll always hold a special place in my heart. The line does get long in the morning, but it's one of two coffee shops on the island and is much more well known than the other so it can't be surprising. Even though the line may be out the back door, it's always moved quickly and efficiently. They have menus near the back of the line for folks to look at so they can prepare to order at the counter too! The coffee house has always been a great must-do for the island. Come at opening if you want to zip through a minimal line! read more

There are other places to 'coffee up' on the Island; none quite like this though. If you get there early when the locals gather; you'll get the skinny on who is having what for dinner, who is in the hospital, their condition and what the prognosis might be. They bring their dogs who also exchange pleasantries. It's all quite nice to enjoy the local vibe. They have a much better selection of smoothies than coffee. With names like the funky money and dirty monkey...how can you fo wrong. read more

So believe it or not this is the only coffee place on the island I think that they focus so much on smoothies, and they need to focus more on breakfast items sandwiches they need to modernize the place they need to move all those couches in the back and put tables more for the customers to sit very outdated. I stand with my review and if I can give you a negative I would you're a breakfast place but yet you stop serving breakfast items at 10:45 or 11 o'clock that makes no sense to me, I did ask for a cappuccino and I asked for a large and she proceeded to give me an attitude she advised me to go to the convenient store and buy a my own bagels and cream cheese that is no way to speak to a client how unprofessional when I asked her for her name she said that she didn't have to give me her name. what a way to speak to your clients. If she was properly trained, she knows that that's no way to speak to your client I don't think so. I think you need to retrain her maybe the whole staff. anyways instead of going back-and-forth with your client, you should take this recommendation and try to do better, but I guess you're not going to that speaks for the character of you and your establishment I hope that fellow customers nearby with you and go somewhere else.
