This place has super friendly staff and cute outdoor seating right on the water! We had a great experience.

This place sadly gets a 2 star from me. Customer service was not great and the smoothies were very bad. My group and I came here to rent bikes. It was $20/person for the day, which wasn't a bad deal. Bikes were in good condition and I liked how some included baskets. The girls working were not friendly and had a terrible attitude for some reason. We also all ordered a smoothie to go. $8 for a smoothie that tasted like they did not use fresh fruits. It was bad and no one enjoyed their smoothies. We later stopped at a different smoothie establishment that only charges $6.50 and uses fresh fruits right in front of you! Maybe the ice cream is where it's at, but I would not recommend smoothies. I would recommend coming here to rent bikes. read more

My family and I went to the other ice cream shop before coming here but left because they were so rude. The staff at this shop were SO nice!! They were happy to greet us and cater to what we wanted. Very pleased with the ice cream and service here! read more

Had dinner at the site then i managed to talk dad into bringing us for dessert! The reviews had me a big hesitant but we had no issues besides not finding it the first time. Its right across the street from the surf shop. On the corner. I had pumpkin latte and chocolate peanut butter. I enjoyed it. They did not have the lemon yet. Hubby had the chocolate peanut butter, he felt the chocolate was lacking. But he usually adds chocolate and Carmel to his. Kids had blueberry and rainbow sorbet. They said it was great. This place had clean and not sticky tables outside to sit. In and out door w 6 people limit. read more

Service and ice cream were fine but the scoops were very very small. 3 smalls and a medium didn't even add up to a pint and costed 22 dollars. Weak spoons too. Ridiculous. read more

Nice staff, but super tiny scoops considering the price. This place just reopened, and so the space is very sparse. Not many places to sit comfortably, either. It's probably better to go elsewhere on the island for ice cream. read more

Bottom Line: A prominent spot that serves ice cream and slushies but service is poor. We stopped at the The Slushie Stand without doing any research. It was a hot day and this place was super close to our B&B. I had a small syrup slushy and my husband had a scoop of ice cream. The slushy seemed like a good deal but the scoop of ice cream was about $4. Prices are posted on the menu board when you walk in but when you get to the register the prices are higher if you are using a debit/credit card. This practice seems misleading and raises some other questions in my mind . . . The owner/manager was working the register and was a bit impatient and a tad condescending. On the upside, I think the business has a cute logo. There are a lot of respectable, hard-working, enthusiastic, hospitable businesses on Ocracoke Island and that is where I want to spend my time and money. read more

By far the worst experience I have ever had in any place of business. I came in with my husband because we were both thirsty and wanted to try one of the local businesses on the island. My husband ordered a lemonade slushy, and I ordered a Frappuccino from their menu. The girl working the front was very friendly but seemed unsure about how to make a Frappuccino, so she went to the side and asked another girl for help. After we paid, the girl came back and asked me what kind of ice cream and syrup I wanted (I think I chose chocolate with caramel). We were waiting inside a few minutes, and then the owner came around and said it will be out shortly but that we should wait right outside a side door where they will bring it out. About a minute later, one of the girls came out the side door where we were waiting and gave my husband his slushy (which he said was "pretty good"). As I was waiting for my Frappuccino, I noticed the girls coming in and out delivering other orders to other people who were also asked to wait outside the side door. I figured mine was taking a bit longer because of the greater complexity than a slushy. I then counted 5 minutes when I began to look in the window and wave to make sure they knew I was still waiting. The owner was still there working the front with the girls. 10 minutes then went by and my husband convinced me to walk back in to ask what was taking so long, which I always feel so uncomfortable doing (but he was practically done with his slushy and we wanted to get to the lighthouse). When I went in the front, I was rudely yelled at by the owner, "You need to close the door." This was so loud and rude that everyone inside turned to face me. I was so embarrassed on top of frustrated from having to wait so long. I then politely asked, "I'm still waiting for my Frappuccino I ordered about 10 minutes ago." He then replied, in a tone even more rude than before, "You have to come in first and close the door." So I walked in and approached the counter, trying so hard to be nice still. He then went on about how it's been in the back the whole time and no one could find me even though I was exactly where I was told to be and consistently made eye contact with the staff members while I was waiting! I was (and still am) astonished by that. I tried my hardest and managed to put on a smile while I was fighting back tears and said "Thank you so much, sir." He then proceeded to look me dead in the eye and crouched down to my level and said, "You don't have to be so nasty." I'm still surprised at my own strength for choosing to just walk out without saying anything more. I was at this point on the verge of dehydration so I managed to scarf back some of the Frappuccino. It was honestly disgusting, and I have never had a Frappuccino I didn't finish. I would never recommend this establishment to anyone (including their bike rental). read more

Ocracoke Ice Cream - Terrible. Very syrupy for being a slushy store! - Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt Near Me - Ocracoke, North Carolina

It was okay. The management and workers seemed annoyed at our questions and were quick to rudely tell us off for opening the doors and closing them. The ice cream is normal, not handmade or anything. It's very expensive for a cone and honestly, not worth it. The iced coffee was nothing special, just expresso shots. Napkins are outside. Tables and seats outside were not cleaned. But overall, just a normal cafe. read more

We have been there 3 times already, and the ice cream is really good, terrific waffle cones. Milkshakes have gone over well with my crowd too. Can't comment on the actually slushies or ice cream, but renting a bike from here for a long weekend was a breeze from start to finish! They have quite a few options, but we just decided to grab two basic bikes. Everything was in great condition and we were also given a bike lock and offered helmets if we wanted them. The price is about in line with every other spot on the island, but I liked the uniformity of these bikes and the fact they they all looked well kept! We'll definitely be back again to rent next vacation! read more

Discriminatory against persons intending to follow the Dare County Order of 6/21/20. The essence of the order requires people to wear a mask if social distancing could not be maintained, unless the person has a condition but which they can't wear a mask. I have such a condition so I made sure to maintain the proper social distance. Despite doing this to conform to the Order, the employees shouted me out of the place. only gave one star to write this review. employee came out shortly after me and my cousin got in line and told us to tell anyone else getting in line that we were the last to be served. we told one family and felt so bad because the kid started crying, so we let them get in front of us. it's unfair to put your customers in that position. at that point we were no longer interested in our involuntary employment and decided to leave. as we walked away we saw the employee pointing at us, laughing and giving us dirty looks. I would recommend literally any other ice cream place on the island who are way more deserving of the business. I will absolutely never come here again. read more

This is one of the worst experiences i have ever had on Ocracoke island by a small business. We walked into the store and we're planning on getting ice cream for our larger group to share. When i asked the employee of they had any larger sizes other than the double scoop she looked my sister and i up and down and said the sizes were fine. We asked for a double scoop of cookies and cream and the girl rolled her eyes and said "i mean i guess i could try to make it work...". we then asked for a double scoop of chocolate to which we got the same response. At this point we were really aggravated but still needed to get ice cream for our group. The girl asked very rudely and loudly "anything else?" while rolling her eyes. I personally work in an ice cream shop myself and know that this task is not difficult to do. The amount of ice cream in the bin was half full; maybe the worker wanted to avoid scooping that type of ice cream but regardless, this was still lazy and rude and make me and my sister feel like an inconvenience to their business. This is the most hostile and frustrating experience for an activity that should be fun and wholesome. I will never come back to this establishment and if i could rate it 0 stars i would read more

I had a fresh lime slushy and it was delicious! Pretty pricey though- $5 for a lime, sugar, and ice is more than it should be.

Genny P.'s review nails it. The gentleman managing the place obviously does not enjoy his lot in life. He ushered us quickly through the line like it was an army mess hall. Geez, can you let the kids have more than 30 seconds to decide what kind of ice cream they want? Note there was no one behind us in line. Then, when my son held the door open a moment too long to allow another family member to exit, the manager barked at him to shut the door. Apparently the air conditioner was not working properly. Coupled with distinctly average ice cream and non-English speaking, eastern european women working the counter, it's clear this place relies on first time visitors for its livelihood, because there's no way anyone would visit this place a second time. And, of course, good luck finding a public restroom here or anywhere in the town for that matter. Too bad too, because it's a cute building in a great location with a lot of potential. Maybe check it out if you see an "Under New Management" sign out front. read more

We decided to take a little beak and stop in The Slushy Stand. They advertise free wi-fi and expresso. Two of my fav things. Upon entering the staff really didn't speak. I got a cup of coconut ice cream and an iced mocha The ice cream was average. My ice mocha was lukewarm. So we go to sit outside and get connected to the free wi-fi. They have it locked and could not get connected. We will def not be visiting this place again. read more
