this was a perfect treat for post-beach day pre-ferry ride home. i got the chocolate covered s'more and absolutely devoured it. with gusto, let me tell you. it was bomb. my husband got the chocolate covered peppermint patty, which was enticingly flavorful. it was expensive--for those two relatively small items, our total was over $10. yay for hitting the minimum for credit card i suppose? read more

We are ice cream snobs and were disappointed with Maola brand instead of homemade. Daughter got Moosetracks and was happy with it but we got chocolate peanut butter pie...WOW!...and triple chocolate mouse pie...again wow! Stick with the items they make in house and you'll be happy. Teenage boy servers weren't terribly friendly but weren't rude either. Went back a few days later and the teenage girls were much more friendly. Tried the soft serve and it was ok but not as creamy as I like it. We are very picky ice cream eaters though. Still the best all around sweet shop on the island!! Don't go here if you have kids with you is all I can say. They apparently opened a candy and ice cream shop and didn't expect for families with children to come into the shop. The owners were rude to us and the kids just for walking in with 3 kids. They also treated the family that walked in with us with kids the same way. The lady that apparently is one of the owners literally took candy out of one of the kids bags saying you have too much?? Really? You are going to tell someone else's child they have to much candy in the bag that they are paying for? They do this because they feel like they can because it's no other shops on the island. But don't even get into business if that is how you will be towards your customers coming in supporting you and your business. You may stay in business on the island because you are the only candy/ice cream shop there. But I will never support them again. read more

Wish I could give this place and Fig Tree no stars. Every sign has the word "no" on it, including no samples of ice cream. For real? $10 minimum for debit and credit, which is ridiculous. It's 2019-Get a better POS system or put your customers before max profit. Would have walked out but my 8 yo already started eating her ice cream cone. Together with a soda that was $5, so I had to buy a $5 bag of pretzels to pay. I've been coming to the island for 44 years. The best place on Ocracoke to stock up on candy. Actually, Candyland is the best, but the people who work there can be pretty rude, so don't bother. The decor is wonderful. Lots of pretty glass jars. They have a wide variety of candy and fudge. The staff can be rude sometimes, but for the most part they're very nice. read more

If you want gummies and chocolates, this is the place to go. However, beware of the older lady that works there. She's irritated by children and is rude as well. Don't ask for an ice cream sample because according to her, everyone should know what ice cream tastes like. Tap water is an extra 0.50 a cup. read more

We stopped by here for icecream , ordered cookies&cream and strawberry cheesecake icecream. Icecream was very creamy and delicious but I would have preferred it less sugary. Best place for sweets on the island. This was my second year coming here and we absolutely had to stop at Sweet Tooth. My Mother-in-Law raves about their soft serve and they have wonderful fudge, old-time candy, and a great assortment of chocolates and cakes. We managed to show some restraint this year by only picking up a few dark and milk chocolate graham crackers. If you are headed to Ocracoke you must stop at Sweet Tooth! read more

I was expecting your average conglomeration of mass produced junkfood, but what I got was many homemade items and excellent gourmet chocolates. We went for ice cream. They had only eight flavors. Company policy is no samples. Huh? I have never been to an ice cream shop that didn't provide samples! They suggested I go to the Slushy Stand down the street for samples. I did and was very pleased with my choice. I will never set foot in this place again. What a dumb policy. We stopped by here briefly in early June to grab a small treat for ourselves and they were very good. However, there were a staggering amount of VERY rude tourists there with no sense of manners whatsoever particularly this lady with her 2 children and a stroller. We were in line and as my husband placed his order, she very rudely jumps in front of him and starts placing her order and he was not even finished just pushing past him. She was the worst of the bunch. However, this is a review of the shop so I digress. They offer a wide variety of food and dessert selections from sandwiches,salads & dips (when they are open for lunch) to scones, cookies, fudge, saltwater taffy,chocolates, and ice cream - all made at the shop. The staff were pleasant and incredibly patient with the droves of rude and obnoxious tourists from out of state considering with their entitled attitudes. I felt bad for them. All in all, a good little confectionary shop/bistro out on little ole Ocracoke. If you're coming during the tourist season (May-September), be weary of some of the tourists on the island. read more

I recently went to Sweet Tooth while on my second trip to the island. The atmosphere and decor is worth a visit. You will most certainly feel like a kid in a candy store, literally. There's rock candy, home made ice cream, coffee, and it seems like hundreds of chocolatey, delicious treats. I've only tried the ice cream, but I certainly want to come back to try a bit of everything, and subsequently gain a few pounds. The only bad thing I have to say that isn't quite so wonderful about Sweet Tooth is that when I had the strawberry cheesecake ice cream it tasted a bit buttery and left a bad taste in my mouth. So I'm not sure if the Fig Tree and Sweet Tooth are separate businesses as Yelp would have you think or not. Fig Tree was listed as open on Yelp just after 3pm which is great because we wanted a quick snack such as a sandwich or hummus before indulging in ice cream. When we walked in we read the sign that said deli closes at 3:30 and before we had a chance to ask or look at any of their other options an employee simply said the deli is closed. No offer of any alternatives or what was available vs. What wasn't. They had to go boxes of cold salads and hummus in the case which I would have been happy to purchase. This was our second encounter with this employee during our vacation who has a don't bother me attitude that even my 9 year old noticed. Now the sign outside says open till 8 or 9 so maybe she could have asked what she could help us with before telling us that what she thought we wanted was closed. Sweet Tooth is the best candy shop on the island. Their truffles are wonderful, and they also have great ice cream and homemade desserts. They also have great sandwiches, bread, and potato salad. It's pretty small inside, but the space is bright and airy. read more
