What an outstanding little shop full of familiar favorites, whacky novelties, creative whimsy, and fun! The staff are always warm, friendly and welcoming! My family loves coming here whenever we get the chance.

Wonderland of treats. Mix & match endless varieties of Jelly Belly, taffy, old & new favorites. There are specialty old fashioned sodas, ice cream, & even a carousel. This shoppe is yet another fantastic stop in the hidden gem that is Swanaboro.

Tons of old school candy here!

During our vacation in Emerald Isle we would were looking for a different place to have ice-cream and we came across Candy Edventure because they had chocolate covered frozen bananas that my husband loves. The ice-cream was okay. I got the moose tracks which I'd never had before so I didn't really have anything to compare it to. The candy selection was awesome, there was one whole section devoted to old school candy which my mom loves. The neat surprise was when we came outside there were all these ducklings wondering around and watching them try to find there momma. This was a nice location as well right by the water.

"I'll take you you to the candy shop..." Ok, now that I have that out of my system, let me tell you that you've gotta check this place out. Fudge, homemade chocolates, old fashioned candy, saltwater taffy and more awaits you. The ice cream is out of this world - try the butter pecan (FYI, it's pronounced "pee-can"). The little ones will be in heaven when the walk through the door. And they'll probably be in a sugar coma when they walk out. Have fun!

My kids were harassed and forced to leave by the rude staff. If you don't want kids in your store perhaps try not owning a candy store...

I'm a local music teacher, and I often meet potential clients here instead of Starbucks because I'd much rather support a local business. This morning (7/31/26 around 9:00 AM), I had my two girls with me, ages 3 and 1. I completely understand this coffee shop is geared more toward adults, and I don't expect anyone else to parent my children. With a little supervision, though, they're usually happy to sit in the front area with a pastry and hot chocolate while I meet my client, who today was a no show lol. Today, my hands were obviously full with a baby on my hip, so I was microwaving cinnamon rolls one at a time while making sure my 3-year-old wasn't getting into anything. That's just part of being a mom, and I didn't mind doing it. What stood out was that when I asked if there were any napkins, I was told, "Nope, I think we're out." I assumed someone might grab a paper towel or another option from the back, but after waiting a few minutes while my daughter kept saying, "Mommy, sticky," I realized that wasn't happening. I finally just told her to wipe her hands on my pants because we didn't have anything else. Then I went looking for utensils to make things a little less messy and found only one fork, so my daughter and I shared it. I know these seem like small things, but my family owned a restaurant growing up, so I also know how much the little moments shape whether someone feels cared for. We live in an area with a lot of young families, and even small gestures like having napkins stocked, keeping utensils available, or offering a paper towel when someone is clearly juggling little kids can make people feel genuinely welcomed. I'll absolutely continue coming back because I really enjoy supporting your business and bringing my students there for meetings. I just wanted to share this experience because I thought it was something the owner would want to know. I hope it's received in the spirit it's intended: not as a complaint, but as feedback from someone who truly wants to see this place continue to succeed.

Splendido!! If you find yourself in Emerald Isle, and you like world class Italian food you need…read moreto check out Il Cigno Italiano. I live locally and can confirm this is a place locals go, it's been a couple of different restaurants over the years, all have been great but we hope Il Cigno is here to stay. If you read my reviews I try to provide data and facts and set expectations. Service / Price - I have been to the restaurant no less than 20 times and the service and people are great! Our last waitress was really fun, even though the place was at mid vacation season madness. I would recommend getting reservations for sure and give yourself time to park. It's very limited. Price, you are going to one of the best restaurants in Swansboro, that has a great wine list and world class chef cooking for you...it's not a sports bar. Expect to pay minimum $18 to $22 per person on average before alcohol. Ambiance - the palace has a fantastic back porch looking out into the White Oak River. If the weather is nice and you can get a back porch seat, it's worth it. The inside is pretty much the same it's been for years, however it's not a bad thing. It's a great combo of old beach elegance (means laid back, but you can dress up or down, have a nice romantic meal or a family dining.) The bar is pretty nice to sit and have a drink or wait for your table. It's not a sports bar, so maybe not the most ideal place to watch a game. Food - it's all good. I have to recommend the eggplant meatsballs, and I don't really like eggplant. They are absolutely fantastic. The only issue is they only give you 3 per serving, which is a little mischievous on Il Congo's part .... it makes you buy to appetizers if you have a normal party of 4. Their salads all good, the house Halibut special is amazing, and my personal fav the Tuscan Salmon. It's just all good! If you are vacationing, go, you will be glad you did.

Kistler Chardonnay, and a canned beet salad?…read more I wrote a review of Boro about 8 years ago, it may be interesting to go out and compare the two. I have to say my wife and I are confused by our latest dinner experience more than anything. We could not get into Il Cigno Italiano, a fantastic restaurant (I recommend to the eggplant meatballs), who suggested we visit their "sister site" Boro. We love Il Cigno and thought, wow this going to be great. I did not realize the two were related under one organization. Like all my reviews, I try very hard to keep drama and non factual commentary out as much as possible. I focus on setting expectations based on my experience. Ambiance - Boro has changed since we were there last. The bar was walled off from the main dining more than before. The walls were empty with no art or really anything... pretty sterile...not a romantic setting, but more of a family setting. In fairness, they may be remodeling, I did not ask. One last critical item, we were sitting under a HVAC wall unit, that leaked on us through the meal. I would have asked to move but we moved to the far end of the booth, it was fine then. The outdoor patio is still nice though, and is fun to go watch bands and relax listening to music. We do this frequently as we are "locals". Service - our waitress was attentive, very nice and did check on us. The hostess was great, and was able to seat us right away. So service was pretty spot on. ....except, I am no longer paying credit card service fees that are not verbally noted when I sit down (small print on the menu does not count). These fees, have been added as "Covid era" item to help restaurants. I had no issue with it then, however, we are not in Covid anymore. I run a business and feel this is a cost of doing business and needs to be in the pricing (more helpful for customers) or absorbed. 3% is well over $200 per year for our eating out budget. Food - this is where I left scratching my head. My wife and I both ordered the Beet Salad. It read on the menu it had arugula, butter nut squash and a combination of greens. When it arrived, there was very little arugula, very sparse squash and it had canned beets on it. The greens were very scarce, more of a garnish than a salad amount. At best it looked like it was a small side salad, not a dinner salad. It was not a good price point for what we received in my opinion. However, the Tuna Takati was nicer for $15 and much closer to an Il Cigno level of offering. Another strange dynamic was they offered Kistler Chardonnay, which runs for about $90 a bottle. It is a world class wine, but Im not sure how well it matches the restaurant, or the level and quality of the food we were severed. In summary, if I was the owner of Il Cigno I would be hesitant to send folks to Boro who may looking for an Il Congo experience. In fairness, I did not ask about decor or the HVAC. However, the food is not at par for the pricing or the quality I would expect after eating at Il Cigno.
