Wow. It may be getting colder outside, but that couldn't stop me from heading to Sweet Spot multiple times during my weekend in Emerald Isle. The staff is so friendly, with lots of recommendations for their favorite flavors. The store itself is covered head to toe in fun souvenirs and various snacks (fudge to taffy to everything in between). It's easy and comfy and welcoming. The main attraction for me is the ice cream and it is exceptional. My favorite flavor on this trip was the Graham Central Station (graham cracker and honey focused) and it paired well with the pumpkin and key lime pie flavors but tasted great on its own. I love this place. I grew up here. The nostalgia that I have when I go there is crazy, the ice cream is soooooo gooooood, and it's so cool to look at everything they sell, they have cool knickknacks to skim over. I definitely recommend going here! It does get pretty busy and hard to get into but if you pick the right time and the right day it's definitely worth it! It's got great air conditioning which sounds dumb to add but it's important because it's so hot there haha. This ice cream shop was not too busy when we visited on June 2nd. There isn't a lot of seating, so be prepared to return to your car or eat standing on the sidewalk or edge of the parking lot. We didn't mind standing up at all, but we know some people aren't able or with small kids it may be a challenge. This shop is very cute with gifts and souvenirs. They have tons of ice cream flavors - over 50. We appreciated that they have signs telling people to please inform them of allergies so they get a fresh scoop for their order. I had a single scoop of orange blossom on a sugar cone. It was fantastic, the best sugar cone I've had in a very long time. My husband ordered a Graham central station milkshake. He said the shake was a bit thin for his preference, but the flavor was really good. The portions are very generous, and the workers were friendly. They have plenty of employees to help at the fudge/taffy counter, the ice cream counter, and the shop. read more

This year was our 7th annual family beach trip to Emerald Isle and of course we had to get ice cream from one of our favorite spots in the isle! The speed and service you receive here is wonderful. There is not much seating inside due to the fact that they sell more than ice cream and it can get sort of packed when they are busy. We went 3 days in a row this week to get ice cream and it was delicious! I did have a plastic spoon blended in my milkshake but my husband took it back inside and let them know and they made me a fresh one, no questions asked. They also sell candy but I don't believe it's the freshest sometimes. If you come here, come for the ice cream. It's the best thing they sell!! read more

This place has AMAZING salt water taffy. My Mom found the place and surprised me with a pound of it. It directly across the street from Ben & Jerry's. They are a lovely souvenir shop with homemade chocolates and fudge. The fudge is super sweet. A bit too sweet for me. The kids loved it. The taffy was incredible. It was the best taffy I have ever had!!!! It was so good I went there to get more to take home. The taffy was so fresh and soft it practically melted in your mouth. They had so many flavors to choose from. I can't remember all the flavors but I think I got PB&J, mocha, vanilla, chocolate, carrot cake, chocolate malt, hot chocolate, black licorice, caramel cheesecake, strawberry shortcake, neopolitan, coconut, candy corn, blueberry lemon, lemon, and so many more. I just went here for a moosetracks and chocolate chip cookie dough 2-scoop sundae. They have some seats inside for you to sit as well as a few seats outside. They have a ton of flavors and they hand you the menu while you wait in line. The line seems really long but it moves really really fast. hershey's brand ice cream, if you've had it before, you know what to expect. I ordered 1 scoop in a waffle cone and wife ordered 2 scoops in a cup, total came to about $9. since this isnt a house-made ice cream or anything exclusive the particulars arent too important but both my flavor "graham central station" and 1 of my wifes scoops which i think was a butter pecan, were good, while her scoop of rocky road tasted off. it tasted like it was either freezer burnt or made with stale ingredients.. the taste is hard to explain but it definitely was not a normal rocky road. the staff was friendly which is a bonus but i saw several stores selling hershey brand ice cream on our short drive through the island so unless you're looking for an ice cream/novelty/candy shop combo, there inst much separating them from the rest of the ice cream locations. read more

They serve Hershey's ice cream, and the flavor selection is fairly wide. A lot of our group didn't know there was a second row of ice cream flavors behind the main ice cream counter, and those flavors were the ones that we ended up liking more (pistachio, peach, coconut, etc.). The more common ones (cookies and cream, mint chocolate chip, chocolate chip cookie dough, etc.) were located on the main ice cream counter. So when you go, make sure you check out all of the flavors - including the ones on the board / menu - so you don't potentially miss out on a flavor. The ice cream itself was good - no complaints there. The prices were a bit steep, but I guess that's somewhat normal in the area, since it sees a lot of tourists. There are also gifts, toys, and knick knacks sold inside, and a decent candy selection as well. There were about 5 tables for seating inside, and with our big group, we ended up taking most of the seating. It's ample space in most situations, though. Also, the service was friendly. read more

Came here with my family tonight, and it was really good! I can't remember the exact names of everything we got but the Raspberry Roadrunner is what I got, and it was delicious. My son got Superman (the only one that didn't look good, but that's because it was full of food dye, perfect for a 3 year old), daughters got Strawberry Cheesecake and a Graham cracker one, and my husband got a peanut butter cookie dough flavor. Everyone loved what they got, and it was under $15 for the 5 of us! The inside of the store had a decent amount of seating and there's lots of colorful rocking chairs to sit in out front.
