If you're driving a larger truck, be aware that parking is available but pretty tight. Once inside, we were warmly greeted by the host, who was incredibly friendly and escorted us to our table. Our waitress was just as wonderful--attentive, personable, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. There was music playing everyone there was enjoying themselves.
Since it was Tuesday, we both ordered the all-you-can-eat fried catfish special for $21.99. They start you off with hush puppies and coleslaw, and when your meal arrives, you get your choice of a side. We both chose the fries.
The portions were generous, with plenty of crispy fried catfish on the plate. The fish itself had great flavor, was perfectly crispy, and wasn't over-breaded. The hush puppies were delicious, and the French fries were cooked just right. My husband, who considers himself a bit of a coleslaw connoisseur, really enjoyed the coleslaw. I wasn't as impressed with it, but that's just my personal preference.
My biggest disappointment was the tartar sauce. For a restaurant that's been around as long as Catfish Dewey's, I expected a homemade tartar sauce. Instead, it came in a pre-packaged container and tasted overwhelmingly of onion. Unfortunately, it just wasn't for me.
If I were rating everything individually, I'd give the catfish a 7/10, the hush puppies an 8/10, the fries an 8/10, the coleslaw a 5/10, and the tartar sauce a 0/10.
Overall, we enjoyed our visit, especially the friendly service and the crispy catfish. While it wasn't the best fried catfish we've had, it was still a good meal. As I always say, don't let my opinion make your decision. Everyone's taste is different, so go try it for yourself and form your own opinion. You might love it!
