    Peanut Noodle with shrimp
    Jason F.

I stopped by here a couple of Saturday nights ago with my with and twins for dinner. This wasn't the first time we had ordered from Ocha Thai Noodle as we had done so about a year and a half prior. Both times I used smile dining from their website to place orders. On this most recent visit, I placed an order for about an hour in advance. When I got there the restaurant worker was just sitting down to food from the restaurant which I always find to be a good sign. The inside of the restaurant is small with tile floors and seating for maybe 20 people. My food was ready whenever I got there and I was quickly on my way. For dinner on this evening I decided to have the special fried rice which I had seen a photo of on Yelp while my wife went with the peanut noodles with shrimp. The menu described my dish as stir fried rice with brocolli topped with crispy fried chicken and scallion. The concept of it was good and I appreciated the fried chicken with the broccoli and the fried rice had a bit of sweetness to it as well. What I didn't appreciate was the overall dryness of the dish combined with the fact that the chicken was dry. If I was eating in the restaurant or at my house, I certainly would have added something to it but since I was picnicking at the park with my family, I had nothing. That led me to only finishing about half of it before I gave up on it. My wife found better success with her meal though and enjoyed it. The bottom line for me is that I might stop by here again in the future. While my first trip here was successful, my last one, not so much. So definitely be careful in what you are ordering.

Ocha thai is my go to spot for late night meals. The staff are super helpful and friendly for take out orders. I always get the peanut noodles with pork. It has such a rich and nutty taste and you can also adjust the spice level. The other dish was great too and they made the rice in the shape of a heart. It is pretty small but there are a few tables inside that you can sit at. You can also order from the counter for take out.

    Tom Yum Soup with beef

Talk about getting lucky. Found this place and had a great time. They never slowed down and the togo orders were leaving like crazy. I landed late and and this place is open to like 3:00 am. Wow! I lived in Thailand for four years and this was the best that I have had outside of there. I definitely don't think you can go wrong.

Yes please! Coming from Denver where the Thai food was abysmal, this place delivered. The spring rolls and the pad Thai were both delicious and they actually spiced appropriately (unlike Denver). Would definitely order from here again!

I've gotten food from this place multiple times, the food is always great! It was ready relatively fast.

This place deserves 5 stars. Food was fantastic.. Tom kha is some of the best I had wonderful lime & lemongrass . Beef soup was great too love the meatballs. Mango fried rice had a great flavor! Good quality mango. Waitress was sweet person too! Music was fun! HOT TIP! " Literally" even their one was a bit spicy if you don't like spicy say zero.

    Pad see ew with tofu

Very cool place! I especially love the hours and how late they are open. So if you ever feel the need to grab noodles at midnight, this is your place. And, the quality as well as prices are both quite good. I tried the pad see ew with the tofu as well as the Thai custard. Both were very tasty. The portion for the pad see ew was great. And, the flavors were as well. For $12.50, it's pretty tough to beat. They used plenty of fresh vegetables like broccoli and carrots. I enjoyed that they thoroughly cooked these vegetables since I like them slightly softer. The sauce is tasty and flavorful. The tofu is well soaked in the sauce and high quality. Very good overall. The Thai custard was also great. I ordered on Uber Eats, and there was no option for Thai custard, but I asked them to replace the mango sticky rice with the custard and they did so, so props to them for reading the note! The custard is delicious and a great texture. So is the rice. I would have liked a bit more coconut milk though. All in all, this is a great option for anyone seeking out Thai food in this area. It's a great late night meal as well. The pad see ew is great and so is the Thai custard. It's high quality Thai food.

Quick, hot and tasty Thai food in South Oakland! My sister first found this restaurant on a food delivery service and her go-to order is the peanut noodles! The menu has plenty of classic Thai dishes. More variety than other local Thai eateries! I was pleasantly surprised to see the Rad Na noodle dish and had to try it! The noodles were packaged separately from the gravy on a to-go order, which was thoughtful. The gravy was packed full of veggies and had a savory flavor to it. Definitely not the most quality ingredients, but the pricing is affordable! Overall, not my favorite Thai eatery in Pittsburgh, but my meal satisfied my hunger haha. tldr; food 3.5/5 service 4/5 interior 4/5

Pad Thai, Pad See-Ew, Summer Roll

I can't believe I've been at Pitt for 4 years and I just found out about this place!! I had it twice in one week after I tried it! soooo good. First time I went I got the pad see ew with spice level 1. It wasn't spicy at all but it was soooo good. Second time I went I got the rad na with spice level 2. It wasn't what I was expecting but was really good but spicy. My sister got the pad Thai with spice level 2 and she loved it. She said it was the best pad Thai she's had in Pittsburgh. We also got the summer rolls. I usually don't like summer rolls but these ones were good. My friend got the pineapple fried rice and he also said it was probably some of the best he's had in Pittsburgh. Highly highly recommend this place. So worth it.

    Pad See-Ew

It's fine. I got the pad see yew with chicken. Noodles had good flavor, veggies were good, chicken was super overcooked. My evaluation criteria for pad see yew (because I love it) is whether I think it's better than noodlehead (my fave.) This place was not, go to noodlehead instead for the same price.

Spicy Pad Thai was hot, not too spicy. Crab Rangoons were slightly cold but that isn't a big deal. Service was superb and professional.

They have a series of vegetarian appetizers, but that's not their focus. In terms of the overall experience, the staff is very friendly and on top of things. We ordered takeout, but the online ordering site didn't give us a confirmation of our order. A quick call to the restaurant confirmed that everything was received and already in process. In terms of the food, the wood ear mushrooms and tofu skins was a clear winner. The broccoli was fine, but I would have preferred Chinese broccoli or watercress if they were available. The five spiced eggplant was fine: steamed to a custard-like level of softness, then paired with a salty sauce and served cold. The dan dan noodles were probably best suited for a dine-in experience and didn't really travel well. My partner tells me that the stuffed pork buns were good, but the solid piece of pork in the center was less optimal than something shredded or thinned out with some vegetable matter. All told, this was a good experience. The vegetarian appetizers were good but not exceptional. The various noodle and bun dishes were very nicely crafted. The hand made noodles were a particularly nice touch, with a lot more flavor and texture than I would have ever expected. If I have any requests, it would be for more vegetable centric noodle options.

We ordered takeout this time, and the overall experience was great. We placed an order online, and everything was very neatly packaged and ready to go when expected. The food even travelled fairly well, such that it was still in good shape after traveling home. The restaurant itself is in a bit of a drab strip mall, but it's generally nicely decorated with colorful signage and a nicely kept interior. In terms of the food, the shrimp spinach dumplings were really nicely done, with lots of flavor and texture. My partner especially enjoyed the barbecue pork bao, which were nicely steamed with a very flavorful filling. The egg tart was good, but not really my thing. It had a bit of a caramelized sugar flavor reminiscent of waffles with syrup. The spicy oil splashed noodles, one of the noodle dishes on the menu, was generally lacking: some nice toppings, but not much flavor. Overall, this is a nice little place that seems to be fairly well run. I suggest going for the dim sum and giving up on expectations for anything on the menu that isn't dim sum. We didn't see much of the inside because we chose the option to enjoy our meal outside in the garden. Fortunately, we were able to snag a 5:30 PM reservation a couple Fridays ago. My friend set up notification alerts on Resy and a different party canceled their reservation the day before. This restaurant is very popular. KHAO YUM - 24 This is a 17 ingredient salad with tamarind dressing. I'm not usually a salad person, but this one was incredibly delicious and refreshing. Lots of crispy textures from the various vegetables, some juicy, tart and bitter pieces of grapefruit, and the crispy rice was the perfect fried carb on top. A bit pricy, but a great app to share for the whole table. CRISPY SHRIMP - 32 We were each able to get two pieces of shrimp among the four of us. The shrimp was batter and fried with a sweet garlicky glaze. While it was crispy and juicy, I thought it was a bit too saucy. It wasn't my favorite, but one of my friends really enjoyed the shrimp -- sauce and all.
