Tried out Ocha Thai because of a BOGO deal through DoorDash. The food was ready quickly and the pickup process was easy. The food itself, however, seemed like something was really off. The Pad See Ew tasted sour in a way that spoiled eggs and rotten vegetables taste. I really, really hate wasting food, but both entrees had to go in the bin. I stopped by here a couple of Saturday nights ago with my with and twins for dinner. This wasn't the first time we had ordered from Ocha Thai Noodle as we had done so about a year and a half prior. Both times I used smile dining from their website to place orders. On this most recent visit, I placed an order for about an hour in advance. When I got there the restaurant worker was just sitting down to food from the restaurant which I always find to be a good sign. The inside of the restaurant is small with tile floors and seating for maybe 20 people. My food was ready whenever I got there and I was quickly on my way. For dinner on this evening I decided to have the special fried rice which I had seen a photo of on Yelp while my wife went with the peanut noodles with shrimp. The menu described my dish as stir fried rice with brocolli topped with crispy fried chicken and scallion. The concept of it was good and I appreciated the fried chicken with the broccoli and the fried rice had a bit of sweetness to it as well. What I didn't appreciate was the overall dryness of the dish combined with the fact that the chicken was dry. If I was eating in the restaurant or at my house, I certainly would have added something to it but since I was picnicking at the park with my family, I had nothing. That led me to only finishing about half of it before I gave up on it. My wife found better success with her meal though and enjoyed it. The bottom line for me is that I might stop by here again in the future. While my first trip here was successful, my last one, not so much. So definitely be careful in what you are ordering. read more

Ocha thai is my go to spot for late night meals. The staff are super helpful and friendly for take out orders. I always get the peanut noodles with pork. It has such a rich and nutty taste and you can also adjust the spice level. The other dish was great too and they made the rice in the shape of a heart. I ordered at 1am after a long travel day with tons of delays. I was nervous because I was ordering from a new place at an odd hour... and it turned out great!! I will definitely reorder. We had the chicken pineapple fried rice (4.5/5) it definitely rivaled our favorite local Thai spot. Got spice level 1 because I was afraid that reviews said their food was spicy. I could have handled a level 2 but I rather be safe than sorry. Also had the beef noodle soup (3.75/5). This was also very good. The broth was a little sweet and savory, paired well with sriracha. I'm in a memory lane mood missing all of my favorite food spots from my college days so thought I'd give a loving review to my much missed Ocha Thai Noodle. I can't even remember how many times I ate here as a student but it was always my go to when I had a Thai food craving (it was also near our apartment which was how I discovered it in the first place). As a SoCal native, I was used to having plentiful amazing Thai food options around me so I was pleased that Ocha didn't disappoint. Their veggie pad see ew, side of crab rangoons, and a Thai tea was my favorite trifecta to order. I mostly ordered it for delivery or to go but the times I did dine in were always lovely. The staff is so friendly and accommodating with any dietary restrictions and the restaurant itself feels just like home. I'll definitely be back in the next time I'm in town :) read more

Very cool place! I especially love the hours and how late they are open. So if you ever feel the need to grab noodles at midnight, this is your place. And, the quality as well as prices are both quite good. I tried the pad see ew with the tofu as well as the Thai custard. Both were very tasty. The portion for the pad see ew was great. And, the flavors were as well. For $12.50, it's pretty tough to beat. They used plenty of fresh vegetables like broccoli and carrots. I enjoyed that they thoroughly cooked these vegetables since I like them slightly softer. The sauce is tasty and flavorful. The tofu is well soaked in the sauce and high quality. Very good overall. The Thai custard was also great. I ordered on Uber Eats, and there was no option for Thai custard, but I asked them to replace the mango sticky rice with the custard and they did so, so props to them for reading the note! The custard is delicious and a great texture. So is the rice. I would have liked a bit more coconut milk though. All in all, this is a great option for anyone seeking out Thai food in this area. Quick, hot and tasty Thai food in South Oakland! My sister first found this restaurant on a food delivery service and her go-to order is the peanut noodles! The menu has plenty of classic Thai dishes. More variety than other local Thai eateries! I was pleasantly surprised to see the Rad Na noodle dish and had to try it! I can't believe I've been at Pitt for 4 years and I just found out about this place!! I had it twice in one week after I tried it! soooo good. First time I went I got the pad see ew with spice level 1. It wasn't spicy at all but it was soooo good. Second time I went I got the rad na with spice level 2. It wasn't what I was expecting but was really good but spicy. My sister got the pad Thai with spice level 2 and she loved it. She said it was the best pad Thai she's had in Pittsburgh. We also got the summer rolls. I usually don't like summer rolls but these ones were good. If you're from Pittsburgh, I'm sure you know of Noodlehead as one of the best Thai restaurants. I was excited to see a Thai restaurant open on Pitts campus (south Oakland)! I was ready to compare it with one of my fave Thai places. I got the roasted Pork noodle soup and my bf got the Pad Kee Mao which he always gets at noodlehead. He LOVED his dish and got a 4/5 spice. It really tasted good IMO as well and similar size to noodlehead! My soup was REALLY spicy when I asked for 2/5. The broth and noodles were good but the pork was cold. The service was a bit slow since they seemed a bit understaffed but they were all friendly! I've had this dish at every Thai restaurant I've ever been (one every week for the past 10-12 years of my life) and in Thailand itself. The broth was very flavorful and had 2 good sized meatballs plus a good amount of sliced beef. I gave the meatballs to my hubs and he said they were good. In the noodle container (we Door Dashed), they included raw sprouts and a little bit of scallion and fried shallots. I hate cilantro and there wasn't any so that was a big win since Door Dash wouldn't let me make any notes! My husband liked his Thai Tea and Pad Thai. The meal also came with two extra fried spring rolls that were free. The chicken bang bang was the best with the actually outstanding mayonnaise sauce. For the crispy duck pad Thai, the pad Thai itself was pretty good, however the crispy duck was very dry, some parts inedible due to this. A friend and I decided to go here for dinner after having hookah next door. When we arrived, we could hear (what I imagine is the owner) in the back cooking away. We grabbed menus and decided what we wanted to eat, and then after about 5-10 minutes, we resorted to calling the restaurant to tell her we were inside and ready to order! Lol but once she realized, she promptly came out with water and ready to take our order. I got the mixed vegetables with tofu entree, and my friend got lo mein with a mixture of beef and shrimp. The tofu was amazing - crispy outside and soft inside. I also got a generous portion of rice which was cooked perfectly. She asked both of us what our desired heat levels were from 1-5 : I said 3 and he said 4. I kind of regretted going so high as I'm not a big spice fan, but aside from a runny nose, the heat level was yummy and not overpowering. The heat was perfect for the dish and went well with the flavors; not just a pepper bomb smacking you in the face. It was cold inside the restaurant, and it doesn't have the most comfortable seating, but it otherwise was nice, with simple decor and televisions playing Christmas specials. The price was more than a takeout Chinese spot (a little over $25 for two entrees), but it was so delicious, the flavor was elevated, and it was cooked quick and fresh - we could hear our meals being prepared just behind the wall in the restaurant! I think the food is well worth the price. During our time there, we were the only dine-in customers; though there were quite a few Grubhub pickups so it is a popular place, just maybe not for dine-in on a weekday.
