The pizzas are okay, but I think they're over hyped. A bit small as well for the price. The crust is very dense. Strawberry mango smoothie at Counter culture is a must have unless you don't like coconut milk. Spice station also has pretty good food, I like it a lot more than the pizza. This is a great place to start your quest for the Freshman 15. I just finished my freshman year, now eating meals at home, and I feel so much better. I have never felt so disgusting after eating food... That being said, OVT isn't that bad for a college dining hall. Everything has way too much salt and oil, but that's what college kids want, so I guess they're doing a good job of pleasing us suckers. Consuming their breakfast burritos is kind of like eating a large infant. That thing is death encased in a rubbery tortilla. Anything from the breakfast menu at the grill will ruin you. The vegetarian/vegan options here are pathetic. It's pizza, pasta, or the salad bar for the next year. (The salad bar is decent, though.) One thing I reeeeaaally regret not speaking up about was the one time I drank spoiled milk there. I didn't think I'd be able to drink milk again. It was horrific, but I was late for class so I didn't say anything. Ugh. Another awesome thing about OVT is that the people who swipe your ID cards sometimes do not even acknowledge your physical presence. There have been countless times I have said hi to the person working, and got absolutely no response. Just a swipe. Come on, guys. You might hate your job, but know that I'm not exactly excited to be eating here. We're in this together. In case you were wondering, I am one of those people who has no self-control and would get a breakfast burrito all too often. Don't be like me. Coffee always needs an extra shot to taste like coffee. Smoked salmon bagel is my favourite thing to eat here, a good 7/10. Pizza crust for make-your-own pizzas is a little too salty. Wings are all right. Ostensibly open 24/7, but I once got kicked out at around 4 or 5 am so they could clean. Understandable; I don't hold that against them. Angela's Space is conveniently right downstairs. The best atmosphere out of all the UCSD dining halls, and one of the nicest places to see the sunset. read more

I like the pizza, it's a choose your own topping kinda style and the service is pretty fast. It's a nice place to go right after class and the seating/tables are kept nicely clean. Plus they have an outside patio where you can eat and see the ocean. read more

On campus, there is a rivalry between which is better OVT or CV...My vote will always go to CV (probably because I eat there more), but OVT is still worth reviewing. Yes, its typical dorm food and the majority of the time eating a lousy bowl of cereal you made in your room would probably be better. The food is extremely over priced, but that how UCSD rolls, cashing in on ever opportunity they can. I do give OVT credit for their dessert bar it is better than CV's lame excuse for one. Originally I went to OVT for thai iced tea, which I was extremely disappointed in. It was watery and cost around 3.75. What a waste of meal points. I also heard a scary statistic from a reliable source that OVT, by standards, is worse than prison food. Now, that in itself is enough to make me not want to go there. I like the review of the spoiled milk, figures. If your a student at UCSD, walk the extra couple feet and go to Goody's instead. At least their food looks edible. read more

It's AIIGHT. stay clear of their "Chinese" food. Gross gross gross!! The burritos, baja bowls, taco bowls, quesadillas are good but expect to pack some weight from that. Their pastas are pretty bland but they're much better than plane spaghetti. I like their grab n go breakfast burritos because the size is more practical and it's wrapped in aluminium foil. There's bacon n cheese, sausage bean n cheese, and vegetarian. Just note, they lack a lot less STUFF than the giant breakfast burritos but hey, no long line! They also have desserts and smoothies/shakes. They have some o-kay cakes, but I like getting the brownie ice cream sundae. It comes with a big brownie, whipped cream, sprinkles, chocolate or caramel syrup.... all with a cherry on top! read more

iiiii like ovt. a lot. the food gets really repetitive, but at least it's good. can't go wrong with ovt's breakfast. bobcat is a good cheaper alternative to the wave. breakfast burritos are boooomb. fill 'er up! lunch is probably my least favorite meal of the day at ovt. sandwiches are ok...i like that ovt has pepperoncini though. grill specials are oily but yummy. dinner comes in second place. sautee station is good, especially when it's the older blond guy with glasses working it. sometimes the grill special is actually special. if all else fails, go for a burrito. yay for the new ice cream cooler and naked juice cooler! oh and ovt has the friendliest staff BY FAR. read more

this is a college cafeteria. the view is of the ocean but from far away. Since you can't really see the shoreline at all, that means it is a view of the horizon of a flat, boring, ocean. That is great if you are not used to seeing the ocean. The food is kind of what you'd expect. OVT is CRAP! they're constantly cross-contaminating, and they don't give a shit. they don't do anything the health inspector asked them to do, such as use separate utensils for separate food or cover foods not being used. i've gotten chicken and ham in my VEGETARIAN sandwiches, and onions in food that shouldn't have onions (WHEN THEY SAY, FOR THAT CERTAIN FOOD, THAT WE CANNOT HAVE ANY SUBSTITUTIONS OR ADDITIONS!). when you complain, they tell you to let them know if you don't want a certain thing in your meal; however, if we don't ask for it, we shouldn't have to reiterate that point by stating that we don't want it. if your brain is smaller than the size of a pea, and you're therefore too incompetent to understand that, you probably shouldn't be working at a food facility, which requires you to be respectful and careful, not absentminded and rude, as all ovt employees are. i have never been so disappointed in a food facility in my life. read more
