I'm over at UCSD for some summer research and this is the best spot on the med school campus! Great portion size and food is all very flavorful. You can order ahead on grub hub, and the staff was extremely pleasant about getting your food. Lots of nice outdoor seating too. While scrubs might look like a dress code here, Club Med is a great place for a quality lunch for anyone on campus!

Club Med is considered one of the specialty cafes that accept dining dollars and triton cash! Students venture out here when they want to switch up the environment a bit. I've been here a few times before and I would say they are consistent in what they provide and do. I ordered: -Fall Harvest salad: dried cranberries, almonds, feta cheese, pears Pros: -good variety: good variety of sandwiches and salads to please the crowd! -good customer service: professional staff here! Always smiling! -consistent portion: pretty good amount, and consistent with everything! They don't have to weigh it because I'm assuming they are already trained in eyeballing everything. Cons: -confusing lines: there are two doors to the place, and their isn't a specific "enter" and "exit". If you want a salad, you go to the salad bar, instead of waiting in one line. Tips/Observations: -Add ins such as tuna or chicken is an additional $1 -good amount of seating indoors and outdoors! -Soups/oatmeal is right next to the open dessert bar -similar salad style as Foodworx in Sixth college. Overall, I would come here again to try other items! People love the flatbreads here, so that's on my to try list for next time!

New chicken cordon bleu uses different chicken now :[

Prices increased and my favourite sandwich has changed as well! From what I remember, it was $6.95 for a sandwich last school year and this year it's $7.25 (maybe not exactly, but it's definitely more than 7$). They've introduced some new items this year and offer a weekly special (the time I went was a black bean burger that actually looked pretty decent). As for the chicken in the chicken cordon bleu, it is no longer the tender, juicy chunks of chicken, but instead, dry and salty deli-sliced chicken. I was soo disappointed when I found out because it really just wasn't the same. Club Med is still really busy during peak lunch hours and if you go during those times, oftentimes they don't let you customize your sandwich and will hand you the sandwich with what the menu says. Normally (when it's less busy), they'll call your order and ask what you what on it and you can pretty much get whatever you want.

This cafe is located on the UC San Diego Medical School Campus. There's plenty of outdoor and indoor seating available. It only opens from Monday to Friday 7:30 am - 2 pm. Breakfast is offered until 10:15am, and lunch is offered until 2pm. Awesome place if you want to grab a quick lunch, chat with friends, and/or then relax under the sun. They serve ecoGrounds coffee. You get the coffee by yourself, and whole milk, non-fat milk, and SOY MILK are available at the counter next to the door after you pay for your coffee . YASSS the soy milk is free of charge. They also provide discount to the coffee if you bring your own mug. The Coffee taste fine to me. It would be a great morning boost for me if I'm in a hurry heading to the nearby Biomedical Library. SOMETHING TO EAT: I've only tried the lunch here. They have Turbo sandwiches, salads, soups, and pizza for lunch. I usually order the turbo sandwiches when I'm hungry, and order half of the salads when I want a light lunch. When's there's not many people in line, you can custom your own sandwiches and salads. My favorite sandwiches so far are the City Slicker ($7.25) and the Bay of Pigs ($7.25). The bread is pretty tasty, and they toast the sandwiches for you. I usually add the extra grilled onions to the City Slicker. YUMM. The roast beef in the City Slicker could be overtoasted, but still tastes pretty good. They have a specific counter selling desserts too. If you are affiliated to the university, there's a 10% off when you are paying by Triton cash. They do take credit cards too. SOMETHING TO DRINK: There's one big fridge where you can find different beverages including Starbucks drinks, Arizona teas, and sodas. Also, they serve oatmeal in the morning, and you can find two kinds of soup in the cafe everyday.

Afraid of overdosing on Mexican food during a recent visit to San Diego, I had dinner at California…read moreEnglish since it was close to my hotel. I had a beet salad. It was a tad overdressed but otherwise very tasty. The potato skins were meh and desperately needed salt. I had a very delicious cocktail, the "On Holiday," which was vodka, housemade limoncello and, I think, a strawberry/basil/peppercorn syrup. Apparently they will be closing their doors at the end of the month and it seems there are no plans to reopen at another location. But if you're in the area, give California English a try.

You have a few weeks to experience it if you haven't already done so. Their drinks are delightful and I ordered the Golden Hour mocktail last night which was nice, refreshing and bubbly and ginger forward. For food, my hubby and I split the several dishes starting with the Scotch Egg, then the peach and beet salad, the sourdough bread, fish and chips, and dessert to go. The Scotch Egg has changed over the years and is now coated in a spicy gochujang. The surprise hit was the sourdough which was sliced thin, crispy yet soft and buttery, and served with a ricotta maple spread, hummus and tomatoes, and an oil and balsamic dip. We ate every last bite and that bread is still singing to me. The peach, beet, and goat cheese salad hit all the right notes of tangy, crunchy, creamy, and bright. It was superb and had a great balance. The fish and chips have always been my favorite and we ate it up along with their mushy peas. Yum. Lastly, we ordered the sticky toffee pudding to go. It came in a delicious sweet sauce, had a dense bit noise cake, and a side of caramel ice cream that made me want to cry it was so good. Thank you California English for bringing delicious memorable food to San Diego.

We came for Sunday brunch and arrived about 15 minutes early. Although about half the tables were empty, the host told us, "You can't sit until it is your appointment time." The greeting felt unnecessarily unwelcoming and set a disappointing tone for the visit. We were also looking forward to the live music, but the singer was placed far away from the guests, seemingly performing for a separate area rather than the restaurant as a whole. As shown in the attached photo, he was left alone while performing. It did not feel respectful of his talent, and it did not match the live-music atmosphere we expected. The food was okay, but overall we would rate it 3/10. The highlight of the visit was the service: Sunny and the other servers were truly amazing and deserve 5/5. Their kindness and effort prevented our overall rating from being even lower. We hope the restaurant can return to the warm, welcoming, fun atmosphere it used to have. It has so much potential, and we would love to see it get back to its original good vibes

I ordered the short rib bowl and hubby ordered a pizza. The fries were amazing, lots of chicken tenders, my son loved the "squishy" hamburger bun & my short rib bowl was AMAZING!!! Hubby's pizza was good, VERY thin crust which made it light enough to finish the whole thing himself & not feel overly stuffed. Loved the kids activity book, even though it was way too advanced for my littles, I appreciate a restaurant that has a decent activity book. It was loud but not too loud to hold a conversation at the table. My older kiddo wanted to come back the next day but we chose pool time and poolside dining instead. We would definitely come back!

Almond croissant: featured an almond filling that was nutty with the perfect touch of sweetness, and a generous amount of sliced almonds sprinkled on top. Monkey Bread: pillowy soft, and nicely diced apples, swirled throughout with cinnamon. Plenty of frosting drizzle without becoming too much. Cinnamon roll: This turned out to be the star of the show. It was heated at home. Made from a croissant dough. Super crispy and sugary exterior, with a soft, buttery interior, slathered with a luscious cinnamon filling. Light as a feather. Even though the almond croissant was dense and heavy, the flavor was excellent, and they deserve kudos for featuring gluten free treats for those who cannot consume wheat products.

First visit, craving an omelette after most breakfast places had closed, found Nature Forward on…read moreYelp and decided to give it a try. Reviews here assert they have been open for a while, banner out front said "grand opening" so I'm unsure if there was a management/ownership change or that has been up for a while. Place was incredibly clean and staff were very friendly, I would definitely come back again. Some observations and constructive feedback: the menu (both physical on table and QR code for digital) has a lot of ambiguity that staff couldn't easily answer. For instance: "daily mimosa specials" (you had me at mimosa) but I asked my waitress who asked someone else what kind of mimosas (a lot of back-and-forth to see if we had regular OJ for that). I can't tell you how much I paid but it was delicious. I asked what fruit came in the "fruit bowl", the answer I got was helpful (banana, blueberry, strawberry, there was surprise melon) but here on yelp it claims to be a parfait, after I ordered the waitress told me it had yogurt and granola (sure why not), what arrived was fruit with granola on top (I would have skipped the granola). A fruit cup or a side of fruit would be a welcome addition to whatever is supposed to be in that, but it was tasty and I ate it. The grilled banana bread (sigh): something I've baked a million times and enjoy many different ways, had a lot of streusel mixed-in and on top - it was good but the streusel diminished it, too much of of a good think maybe. The honey butter on side was a little thick to spread but good, the strawberry jam was great but never something I'd spread on banana bread. I would have put it on my sourdough toast that came with the omelette, but that came without the toast. Let's discuss the omelette which tasted great, back to my menu confusion, it says "BYO omelette with 3 fillings" and lists no fillings, so I had to ask, and was told "just about anything you could imagine". A list would have been helpful. I went with cheedar, bacon, and peppers - my go-to is a greek (spinach, tomato, feta) I don't know if they had spinach or tomato but no feta so I didn't ask. The omelette comes with potatoes or slaw, I didn't want potatoes so I chose slaw, after ordering they were out of that so I chose spring mix, then was told that was not an option. A side of fruit (for less than the $12 I think I paid for that) would have hit the spot but I told them I had already ordered plenty and the omelette was fine solo, expecting it to come with the sourdough toast. Again: the food and service were good, I will definitely be back, but I think the menu could be clearer or the kitchen could either limit people's choices (eg we have these 4 kinds of omelets) or post ingredients/options on the wall (chalkboard like the one out front?) if they change frequently.

We came here only because of the reviews, which in hindsight, I should have read more carefully. The front has a large Grand Opening sign, which I thought was odd with all the reviews. We were seated inside which was surprisingly hotter than outside. She said she would be back with water. The water took 10 mins, and when she dropped it we asked if we could order with her. She said, "Sure, I'll be right back" before disappearing for another 10 minutes. I had planned to order the chicken & waffles that were on the website, but the menu when we arrived was completely different. Since I don't eat eggs, I went with a side of potatoes, the sourdough bread plate with strawberry jam and bacon. My girl got a breakfast burrito no meat. 30 minutes later, they brought out my bacon and then 5 minutes after her burrito with my potatoes. No biggie, the waitress realized the misunderstanding and asked if I wanted my side of potatoes and I am so glad I said no just based on time. We both agreed those were the saddest potatoes we have ever had, just oily, stale, and unseasoned. Then she took a bite of the burrito; the tortilla was undercooked, and there was tons of bacon. Next, my "sourdough" was delivered, which was just two pieces of white bread. My girl laughed and said, "You are paying $12 for bread." We asked for the bill because we were late for volunteering, and it wasn't edible. The server could tell we were frustrated, and I explained I ordered sourdough and the burrito was supposed to be no bacon. The waitress repeated that's what she put in the computer and we could talk to the owner who was also the chef's wife. The lady comes out, I explain the situation, she looks at the menu, and it's clear she doesn't know what sourdough is and English is not her first language. It then becomes clear that they don't know what's listed on the menu. The most shocking was that she then took the fork and began picking the burrito to find the bacon, like we were not being honest. They took both items off the bill. We still paid for the coffee, bacon, and the bread that was on the menu for $12 only rang up as $5, and the jam was "on the house" since apparently it's extra. I have never spent +$20 and still been hungry like that; what a disappointment. Our water was never refilled. The entire hour we were at the restaurant, despite me asking multiple times. Do yourself a favor and don't go.
