Having recently visited Korea, I was excited to try this Korean Egg sandwich shop in La Jolla. Parking was easy on a Saturday morning and there are lots of EV charging spots right outside. What a nice find in La Jolla. Appears to be a relatively new spot nestled in the shopping center strip mall. Great location if you also need to charge your Tesla EV, as this restaurant spot is next to a bank of chargers. We were looking for a breakfast fast casual place to eat in the morning before driving home to LA and stumbled upon this in the yelp search algorithm. The menu choices were fairly extensive ranging from sandwiches, salads, burgers, and hash brown potato sides. We ordered two sandwiches: Ham and Egg, and Bacon, Egg, and Cheese. Along with one salad. Plus two coffees. You can order through a touchscreen kiosk, which they have two stations available, or you can walk over to the in-person ordering at the other end of the counter. One recommendation I would have for the owner is to customize the touchscreen ordering menu to allow for a checkbox that says "no cheese". My wife didn't want cheese but there was no way to indicate it when ordering through self-service. We had to ask the staffer to hold the cheese and she wrote the change request on the ticket for the line cook to follow. We observed at least four or five consecutive customers needing the same modification after they ordered by self-service. Maybe they can update their menu ordering system with this "no cheese" option in the future so the poor staff person doesn't have to manually adjust the ticket every time! Sandwiches are quite large! If you're not that hungry, you might consider sharing a sandwich. It's loaded with folded scrambled egg with a nice amount of cheese, and nestled between two slices of soft chewy bread that holds the massive amount together somehow! The salad was also nicely prepared and had tasty hints of truffle Parmesan. The owner/staffer lady was super nice and friendly and very enthusiastic and high energy as she called out completed orders, and helped even bring the food order to your table too in many cases. We have been wanting to try Egglet sandwiches for a while, so we are super excited to finally visit it this morning! The store is super cutely decorated with egg themes. The ordering is done on two kiosks that you can easily browse the menu and see what the items look like. Their main dish is the "egglet" which basically is a Korean style egg sandwiches. The egg inside is scrambled eggs. The toast is sooo good! We really love the egglet. The hash browns are okay. I am not a fan of the seasoning on there, but some may like it. The egg is not very soft, considering they're an egg sandwich place, they should focus on making their egg soft and stand out. This feel like any regular scrambled/omelet style egg. If you've been to egg tuck and expect similar level of egg softness and fluffiness, you'll be disappointed. The sandwich itself also lacks flavor. I think they cna benefit in putting spicy mayo or garlic mayo, or stronger condiments in their sandwich to boost the flavor, as the egg itself is barely seasoned. The truffle tater tots is also sorely lacking in flavor. I mean truffle salt is not even that expensive. They could've provided few more shakes of the truffle salt. The place also looks a bit old and the flooring of the balcony is uneven and makes it a bit hard to walk on. They were sweet and savory and tasted even better as leftovers after being popped in the airfryer. Definitely needed ketchup though as it just felt like it needed some type of sauce. The truffle hashbrowns have a nice crunch but they are packaged so poorly to go. We had thought they were in like a little paper baggie but they were just wrapped in paper so when we pulled one side out of the bag, all the seasoning and hashbrowns just fell everywhere. We stumbled across this place randomly while trying to find a spot for breakfast, and it hits the spot! I saw on a poster displayed in the shop that this type of food is called "Street Toast" and is popular in Korea. We got a couple different things to try and everything was yummy. I ordered two egglet sandwiches -- a ham and cheese and a ham and cheese "special", and I added bacon to the "special." The egglet sandwiches come with the yummy brioche sandwich bread, similar to what you'd use in French toast, as well as cheese and Canadian ham. Adding bacon was a good choice, and I loved how the bacon was candied, adding a nice sweetness to the sandwich that offset the saltiness of the egg and ham. One of my sandwiches was the "special" but I wasn't sure which extra ingredients are included; I did notice more vegetables like shredded lettuce? I also ordered the smoked egg bacon sandwich, which has similar ingredients as the egglet but uses a brioche hamburger bun instead and also a generous swipe of yummy mayo spread that pulls the whole sandwich together. The egglet sandwiches, in contrast, don't have spread, but the cheese gives them a yummy gooiness. Both are good and it just depends on your preference. The surprise hit was the truffle hash browns. Some people love the Mickey D's hash browns; these are similar but 1000x better: crispy from being fried, but not overly oily, and with a wonderful umami punch from the truffle flavor sprinkled on top. Stopped by the other day in the morning while looking for a place to have breakfast or brunch. Upon walking in we were greeted by the kiosks, so we did it through that. (though we noticed after that there was a spot a little further into the store where you can order directly with the staff) In the store itself there is a few dining options, but if you walk towards the side of the store there are more seating options outdoor. Everything was nicely pictured, however I will add that it didn't necessarily describe what was in the different egglet sandwiches they offered, if anything we had to in a sense guess what was in it through the option to remove items from the sandwich. (ex: ignoring the name of the item, if there was a check box that said remove cheese, we would assume that it came with cheese and vice versa if it didn't have the option) Other than that, the ordering process was simple and straightforward. As for the food we ordered the Ham&Cheese Special Egglet, the Smoked Bacon Special Egglet (w/ added cheese for an extra cost), and their Fresh Orange Juice. The Egglets were a decent size, very filling, and tasty! It came with a tangy and sweet sauce (which I'm assuming is their Egglet Signature sauce) which paired very nicely with the savoriness of the Egglets. The orange juice definitely tasted like freshly juiced oranges, however, we thought for the amount and size that $4.50 was a little much when compared to the Egglets which were around $11 something. The bread was also very delicious and tasted moist (very far from dry, unlike most bread in sandwiches). The eggs were quite fluffy and moist as well. The sandwiches are quite large, so they are also great for sharing! We picked the sandwiches up, so they were at room temperature when we ended up eating them. Egglet is a breakfast sandwich eatery operating out of a corner suite in a University City plaza off Regents Rd. The space used to house a poke shop before being converted to this business. There was a covered outdoor patio for seating in addition to the inside dining area. Egglets, sandwiches, salads, sides, beverages, and ice cream made up the menu categories. Some combination deals were available that included a drink as well as large box deals that featured a dozen servings. The sandwiches were more traditional fare like chicken breast and cheeseburgers. For the egglet category, there were eight varieties of omelet, meat, and cheese served on toast. The most decadent version was my selection, a Truffle Hash Brown Special. The ingredients were a seasoned hash brown, omelet, dip cheese, mozzarella, sheared cabbage, truffle parmesan, and black garlic. I thought that stuffing a hash brown on toast was a great idea as it added more heft. The truffle and black garlic provided sharp pungent flavors. The owners are Korean and were very friendly during my visit. Instead of another BBQ spot, I am glad they branched out and came up with egg sandwiches. If Egglet was not out of the way for my commute, then I would return more frequently to try some of the other products because the quality and value were at a four star level. read more

I tried this Egglet for breakfast. I chose the Blaze Shrimp, it has over medium Eegg, grilled shrimps, caramelized onions, cheddar and sharp parmesan. My order came out quickly. I check my food to see if there's a good amount of shrimps and yes there's really a good amount of shrimps inside. A bit greasy but it was a good sandwich. But Pretty small size for 1 order. It didn't fill me up, so next time I will order 2 sandwiches. Lots of parking and tables inside . Staff are quick making the food orders. read more

Their sandwiches are pretty good, albeit a bit greasy. I like the aioli that they use, since it balances out the rest of the savory food pretty well. Their fresh orange juice definitely tastes fresh, but it's a bit overpriced, given how little juice you actually get. The truffle hashbrowns are some of my favorite things from this place, and are pretty addicting. I have to get at least 2 hashbrowns every time I go.
