Always quick and easy with John smoging my vehicles. He's budget friendly. And was super helpful getting a check engine light to clear with a weird driving sequence he printed for me. I wont go anywhere else. read more

Fast and out the door I was with my smog that my car passed. Went directly to the DMV. I paid $60

Super easy smog experience! I'd recommend these guys to anyone! I used to stress about going to get my car smog checked every few years, but not anymore read more

Great friendly and fast service. Reasonable prices and have an online coupon section on their website. Again, very friendly service.

Was in and out in about 10 minutes. Very quick service with no appointment on a Saturday morning. Very good price: less than most other smog places I've been to in Oceanside. read more

I had an awesome service from John at the Oceanside Smog, He was very helpful and nice. I have done smog checks other years in different places and I will definitely recommend this one as the best. read more

I just bought a new car, so I brought my old car here to be smog checked before selling it. My car passed inspection on the first attempt, the process was 15-20 minutes total, and the clerk was largely nice and conversational. The reason for the mediocre review: On Oceanside Smog's website it advertises smog checks for $29.75. I ended up paying $48. I went to Oceanside Smog directly after work. I ask about the price, thinking it's about $30, but the clerk says it's $58 with the certificate. I ask about the coupon online, he acknowledges it, so I offer to bring it up on my phone. "Sorry, but we need a printed copy in order for the coupon to be valid." What? This is 2015, not 1995. Why on Earth should we be wasting paper on coupons if I can bring it and it's barcode up on my phone screen? It's a waste of paper, and frankly a waste of time. Not to mention that this is a small business; it's not like this coupon has to be printed so some regional manager can check the numbers. Give me a break! I haggled the clerk (I'm not sure if it was John or not) down to $48. Additionally, if you *do* have the coupon, the cost will not be $29.75, it will be closer to $38 with the certificate. read more

This guy is awesome. Genuine, helpful, even though i failed he still went out if his way to teach me about why it might fail and how i might fix it. Would spend my money here any day of the week. read more

Great price, pleasant technician, and I was in and out pretty quick. I didn't have to clip coupons to get a great price. I will certainly come here with all of our cars. read more

Good pricing. Courteous service. I've been coming here for the past 5 years and this is my ONLY go-to place for smog.

Recommended this place to my boyfriend today since I come here. 10 mins in and out and they send the smog info to the DMV for you. Check their website for a coupon! Thanks! read more

I've been going to this place for a very long time (probably 6 to 8 different cars over the years. I send my kids there, and I've been sending friends there), but when a car that they had passed at least twice in the past, failed a physical inspection, when nothing had physically changed with the car, I started to wonder what was up. After spending a few hours researching the issue, and taking the time to make an appointment with a referee, I found that the Executive Order from CARB that they had used as the basis for the failure was the wrong one! So I canceled the referee appointment, printed the correct one, and took it back in, and after a discussion, I was told it would be OK. And, after a complete re-inspection, it passed. So I'm thinking, what if this had happened to someone that didn't have the experience or time to sort this out? How much time and money would they have wasted because these folks couldn't figure out how to look up a part on the computer? Nice folks, but they're not getting any more of my business...dealing with the insanity that is the CARB, the last thing I need is an inspector that is either to lazy or not bright enough to do the only thing they are supposed to be able to do. All the time I've saved over the years (other reviews are right, they are fairly quick) went out the window when I had to waste hours to figure out what they couldn't seem to do, when it's their job to do it. read more

The test gentlemen was very helpful. My car failed and he helped tell me why and how I could fix it. Very helpful and cheaper than most places. Would definitely use this place again. read more

Found a coupon for this place, it was fast, fair price and simple. Smog is a pretty straight forward thing, I feel you have either a positive or sketchy experience. Mine was all good here. I also liked the proximity to the beach and other stores. Will definitely go back. read more

Every time I need a smog check I have used Oceanside Smog Check. John is friendly and quick to take care of my car. Have had a 2000 Camry, 2008 Fusion, and my husband's cars all smog checked here. No worries or waiting, how many places can you say do that kind of service for you? Here's to many more smog checks in the future. Thank you. read more

Got smog here the other day . It was quick and easy and the manager was great. I couldn't be happier

The guy there gave me a red light special and saved me already $30 on my smog. Other places wanted $65 and he gave it to me for $40. Great guy the only thing is, he is by himself and it takes maybe 20-30 minutes maybe longer. When I was leaving a line was forming. I would definitely call before heading over there. They are star certified and everything was great. Definitely would go back. read more

Excellent and fast service! I've never waited more than 15-20 minutes s and paid about $57 for SUV. If you live around here it's the place to go for sure. read more

I have randomly brought half of my cars here and have always been taken care of. Quick service and friendly

This is my second visit to Oceanside Smog and I'm just as satisfied with this visit as my first. John is the guy that helped me and not only did I get great service but a better price than I would have received at the place closer to my home. These Smog stations are all pretty busy but I like getting the straight scoop on exactly how long it will take when I take my car in. He told me there was one in front of me and that my car would be ready in 25-30 which is exactly what happened. That I appreciate and makes me a return customer. read more

This guy really went above and beyond. We got our smog done in January, and he made a stressful situation so much easier. We have a 2004 Hyundai Sonata that we have had issues with setting the readiness monitors. After spending $165 at the dealership to have them set the monitor two years ago (in which even they still couldn't set one of them...), we were beyond frustrated to find that they needed to be set again this time around. So I called the dealership, and they no longer offer that service as their dynomometer has been down for over 6 months. Okay, so how do i do it? "Just keep driving it." So well over 2,000 miles later, still missing monitors. Call the dealership again and ask for the specific drive cycle that needs to be performed. "Well, we don't really have that info available, we just drive it on the dyno at varying speeds until they set." Great. So a couple hundred miles go by, and we are down to the wire. Smog NEEDS to be done. I finally get all but one, but at last smog, you can have one not set. So we go to Oceanside Smog, and unfortunately, the smog law has changed. Now, only the Evap monitor can be Not Ready, and its our Catalytic Converter monitor Not Ready. So, defeated, I ask John what I can do since we've put so much mileage and still cant get the thing to set. He goes over to his computer, and within two minutes has a printout for me of the EXACT drive cycle I need to complete. The next morning I did it, and got the monitor to set right away. I cannot thank him enough. It's mind blowing that he was able to give me a drive cycle when even the dealership couldn't! I will definitely be returning for all our smogs (big family, lots of cars). He could have kept quiet, and collected multiple retest fees. But instead, he showed me how to set them, offered free pretests, and even did a full retest for free (pretty sure that was out of pity for me spending about $200 in fuel driving aimlessly, but I don't care, free is free). So Thank You, John! read more

I brought in my wife's Nissan Murano during my lunch break...10 minutes later I was heading back to work. Great customer service.

Needed to get smog check for vehicle registration and after being treated rudely by a place closer by my work, I found this was open til 7 - very convenient for those who work late! The other place said I would have to wait over an hour but (given I was the only one there at the time) I was out in less than 15 minutes. Quick and easy, and the man working was very friendly. read more

Super quick, no wait and very friendly. Stoked I went here! John was awesome! I was in and out in maybe 15 minutes.

I went to Oceanside Smog the other day to get my smog checked and was satisfied and happy! John, the tech, was friendly and helpful. The prices were very reasonable, and I was out in under 20 minutes. read more

I had a check engine light on for awhile. Started to replace the spark plugs, spark wire, rotary, and oxygen sensor. The engine light went off after driving for a day on it on. Very fast ! Didn't have to wait. He took me right away. Was done in less than 15 mins or less. I wasn't able to print off their coupon on-line, so I took my smart phone in and showed him the coupon, and he accepted it. I will always use Oceanside Smog from now on. Thank You! read more

Took another car to John today!! Had excellent service just like the other two times I've taken cars here. As long as I'm in Oceanside & need a smog done, this is the only place I'll go. John's super nice & gave me a great deal. I'll definitely reccomend this place to anyone in need. read more

Came here on Saturday morning, after being referred to by another place. This place did a quick, efficient job. Didn't catch the guy's name but was friendly (for a man that works on car). Price was very reasonable I was in and out in less then 25 minutes with my certification stating my car passed. Will defiantly recommend and be back when needed. read more

Great service by John. He went out of his way to help me out, and even gave me a military discount. Unfortunately, my car failed the first smog check, but John gave me a detailed printout on how to fix my issue (I had to complete a drive cycle due to recent battery disconnect). John was under no obligation to give me a free retest after I fixed the problem, but he did!! Great service, and a reasonable price. read more

Fast and friendly service makes the process a breeze! Check out the website for coupons!

Johnny is a class act!! Great customer service and fast at what he does. I would recommend Johnny and Oceanside Smog to any one I know.

The service was friendly and efficient. My fuel cap ended up failing the pressure test but luckily this place is right by O'Reilly auto parts so I just walked over, bought a new fuel cap, and my car passed smog 5 minutes later. There are a lot of smog shops in this area but I had a good experience here, they're open 7 days a week and the price is just as good as anywhere with the coupon from the Pennysaver so I will definitely be coming back. read more

super helpful over the phone and was quoted the best price out of four other calls. came in for the check and was out the door in 15 minutes, and was offered an additional $15 new customer discount upon paying! read more

I'm new to the area and needed to find a place for a star certified smog check. Called a few places and got some quotes of $95 to smog check my 2005 Audi A4. Ended up on Oceanside Smog's website, saw their coupon pricing and called to confirm. I was in and out fast, got the whole thing done for $40 (would've saved a few extra bucks if I took time to print the coupon). Great price, great service. Will definitely come back next time I need a smog check. read more

Great Smog station, it was really nice to see someone who cares about if you are going to pass or not. When i came in John asked me a few questions about my car making sure the battery hadn't been changed recently or if my check engine light had come on, i wasnt sure so he came out with his computer just to check before doing anything at no extra charge. I could tell he cared and did not just want take my money, thank john for the quick service. They are also Star certified. read more
