Today i stopped by to purchase a Presta valve adapter. A Presta valve, is a small metal device used on newer bikes to help inflate your tires. They average anywhere from $1 to $1.25. I was quoted, for just one $8.95? I though perhaps I didn't hear correctly. Yup, $8.95. Fortunately I new they should be less than $2. And Even that is high. Wife brought my son's Blocks Flyer tire to this shop to replace the tube. Tire was not even on the bike. I had already taken it off. Charged my wife $48 dollars. Called and asked why. Said the tube was $20 (which I am not even sure I believe because I could have bought it on Amazon for way cheaper). So he basically charged her $28 for something I could have and should have done myself in 10 minutes. Plus, I called Merrick bike shop and they would have charged me $30. Will never bring anything to this store again. read more

Had a problem with my fiancé bike seat. Took her bike there he was working on another person's bike so he stopped what he was doing to look AND fix her seat. Cant say enough about how nice he treated me. He didn't want to charge me anything but I felt bad for his time and gave him a nice tip. Glad to have a great business like this in town. read more

This place is horrible and would never recommend to anyone. They are soo overpriced and their services are horrible. Had a horrendous experience here. Whoever was helping me was rude, condescending and not helpful at all. I asked about a specific name brand and instead of being informative and educating me more on bikes, he laughed and told me I should go to Walmart or toys r us! I gave myself a $500-600 budget on a new bike and since I live around the corner, was actually looking forward to riding my new bike home. This didn't happen. I felt berated and made to look like a fool. I strongly urge anyone looking to buy a bike to not visit this establishment. These people need to be schooled on customer service and sales. I have bought both my daughters bicycles from this store and both times I was given professional and patient courtesy as my daughters were both undecided between a few bicycles. With purchase he also explained a free tune-up during the spring season. I was very happy with the service and while it was a little pricey from what I read some people post, I can say it was competitive with all the bike shops I know in prices. I took a ride to Long Beach despite the cold and snow. It had been a week since my last ride. I usually do a 40 mile ride 5 times a week. I was in serious withdrawal; suffering deficits in all of the mental, physical, and spiritual benefits a good ride provides me with. Halfway down Long Beach Rd on my way back to Flushing I got a flat. I fixed it behind the IHOP with numb and white fingers. Unfortunately there was a troublesome bulge in the valve area that would have caused a re-flat in short time. At that point I could not move my hands enough to reset the tire on the rim. Down the road a bit is Oceanside Cycle and the owner, I gather to be Scott. He refitted the tire, gave me the opportunity to warm up, and even offered me a hot chocolate all for a small fee. Excellent service by any standard. 5 stars! read more

Listen, I know your business probably isn't booming and you hate the world for it, but when I tell you I want 26 x 2.2 tubes and you spend a solid minute trying to convince me that 26 x 1.6 is the same thing, you deserve to have no customers. That I was charged 25 percent over MSRP on a helmet does. Very helpful with questions. This is a family owned business that loves what they do. I found that I got the answers I needed quickly and easily. Nice selection for a small store, and they did not try to "upsell" to me which was refreshing. I walked in, and Scott the owner looked at my bike and his clear disgust, I later found out, was because i was there for a tuneup. He had had a few of those that day he later told me and it just showed that he was not pleased. Mind you, I had bought the bike there and Scott sold it to me with free lifetime tuneups but i had never brought it in to be tuned it up before. The bike was older but not been not been abused, It still rides great but I hadnt used it in a few seasons. He put it up on his repair rack and literally the first words out of his mouth were that i needed a new bike. I balked and then he went on about how i needed over $400 in repairs. Many of which i knew i did not really need or want. He very noticeably did the tuneup in a reluctant manner. One of the things he did say was that i needed new tires, which i agreed to but when i said to put some on, he refused . saying i was throwing my money away. That was a several weeks ago and i have been enjoying my bike since. No thanks to my experience with Scott at Oceanside Cycle. Stay away from this store, stop by the shop last month still an hour away from closing, I have been looking for a MTB bike for my Son, so even though I read the negative reviews against my better judgement I decided to stop by and see if they have anything instock, been to two other stores but they did not have what I was looking for, this store is supposed to be a GIANT authorized retailer, the shop owner looked at me once told him what I was looking for no BS , And I am looking to spend Money, he showed me a Giant hardtail base model with an MSRP OF $439.00 online from the manufacturer, and He quotes me $650 plus tax SHAME ON YOU and adding that I won't find anything else out there, talk about price gouging during a pandemic, I'm sure at the MSRP they have a profit margin already but to just price GOUGE AND shock a client is not the way to handle business. I strongly believe In buying from local businesses,but with this type of behavior I would not waste my time or money again at this Store, better off buying somewhere else or even online and have it shipped to your home and have a professional Bike mechanic with no attitude assemble it for you. read more

Scott was knowledgable and friendly. He helped me choose the bike that was right for me and let me test drive it to be sure. He took his time and showed me everything I needed to know about my new fixie, since it is my first. It may be smaller mom and pop shop with a basic selection, however, he will gladly locate and order the bike you're looking for! He offered us lifetime adjustments on the bike we were looking at ( only 1 other dealer,in Brooklyn offers that so it's a fab perk ) everyone else offered 1 yr.he's a very knowledgeable hard working guy who's been in business for decades with fair prices running a small business which deserves support.i did lots of research on folding bikes...he was the only south shore local guy who had thelifetime aluminum frame warranteed giant expressway in stock...fab bike soft seat multidirectional adjustability. After test riding several others brands, dahons, origami etc elsewhere, it was clear from a test ride the giant expressway was ' the right folding bike' for even small people with shorter than the normal 25+ " armspans, it comes with everything including bag.i found bruce to be very accommodating & patient.closed Tuesday's currently but he has lots of bikes & accessories & he deserves a great review. read more
