This place reminds me of Venice beach. It smells like weed everywhere!!!! . People drink alcohol and smoke marijuana on the beach and on the sidewalk like nothing. You will see police cars patrolling the area every few minutes but they are worthless, they truly don't care about what's going on. I tried visiting with my 5 and 2 year old but this is NOT kid friendly at all. Not recommended at all and will not be back. read more

My family has visited a few SoCal beaches and I was surprised how much I loved this beach. Not as pretty as Laguna or La Jolla but honestly, I think it's one of my favorites. It is extremely laid back with a little mini beach boardwalk feel. The parking is close and convenient. The sand was soft with big waves which my family had a ball playing in, as well as doing a little body boarding. We choose to visit California when the summer crowds have dwindled, kids are back in school and the water is warm (as warm as it can be). I despise fighting crowds. I imagine it could get really crowded at peak times and parking could be an issue. I really love the little town of Oceanside. It is very walkable. That being said, as some have stated, interesting characters come to this area at night. There is a large police presence by the pier. I wouldn't say I felt unsafe, but please be aware of your surroundings, especially if walking to your car at night. The pier itself is really awesome. We walked to the end and had dinner at the diner. So fun to watch the waves at night! I look forward to making more memories here in the years to come. read more

The beach is nice, most parking lots were $10 per day/ per car. I saw a sign for a "free lot" but it was a distance away. The reason for the low star rating is... we had a group come down after our OC cross country meet- well... our intent was to have a fire (in the fire pits!) and roast marshmallows etc. Well that's IMPOSSIBLE to do when you get there at 2PM and all the fire pits are "saved" with people's belongings all over them and no pen on site! It was so stupid, you shouldn't be able to save the pits unless you're going to BE USING them. Needless to say I was irritated. read more

Such a wonderful beach. It's large with soft white sand. Clean, bordered by a number of tall palm trees. On a practical note, there are easily accessible bathrooms, more than can be said for many beaches. And the waves here are incredible! read more

What I love most about this beach is The Strand. It's a great running route. I used to live close by and I would always run the strand. Other than that, it's not really my go to beach. It's ALWAYS packed.. And kinda dirty. It's fun when they have surf competitions because the beach turns into a full blown festival. I'm more into the quiet beach scene- I would go a little more south and hit up Buccaneer or Cassidy St or even Tremont if I'm in Oceanside. But the closer you are to the pier, the busier it is. Rocket Power, an old Nickelodean cartoon, based its city, Ocean Shores, on Oceanside beach, that counts for something, right?! Jr. Seau himself gave this beach fame, if in fact you weren't aware, most everything on it or around it bares the name "Jr. Seau" in the title. I love the ocean and it's a pretty clean beach. The rocks initially as you walk out super suck but once you hit the sand in the water it's great. Very small beach. The people who rent out 702 The Strand North beach front property are asshole. My family have set up our mini beach tent since 10 in the morning and was chilling there. The property workers came around 11 and decide to set up 4 huge tents and all their games and chair right in front of our spot. When they first bringing stuffs in we thought it was for a small family having a party with one tent, so we didn't say anything. But they slowly bring more stuffs in an set up, then left. Our view and spot were blocked out, so we had to move to a different spot. The people who rent the 702 property eventually came down to hang out at the tent. Not a single words of asking to be set up in front of us or anything. They just came set up n left. Fuck up! read more

We love all the new restaurants they have starting putting in. But my favorite part about this beach is the walkways. This beach has a locals feel to it. I like that. Never a problem finding parking or a spot on the beach, and after our first visit here after a long while, we figured out where the tide breaks and chose our spot to where we knew the water would never reach our set up. There are snack vendors along the walkway. The snow cones and ice cream were a hit, as were the tacos and corn bowls (got mine Hawaiian style, of course!). My kids bought a frozen fish from the pier, their Grandpa took them to rent fishing gear but instead they came back with a dead fish. They tried to pass it off as a fish that they had caught. Either way, we grilled it up right on our grill on the sand. Restroom stalls are a plenty, and the view as the sun fades at the end of another day, with the contrast of the pier makes epic photos. #nofilterneeded *funny of the day: our grill was not in use as we were headed home soon and wanted the grill to cool off. Another beach patron went and threw her hunk of meat on our grill! It was a big piece of chicken. Kudos to you, random beachgoer, for having the cojones to throw your meat on someone elses grill! O-side beach- another Summertime favorite and must-see spot for my family. read more

Was a great beach south of Oceanside Blvd.10 years of great times and now in 2018, the city has decided to not dredge the sand back up on the beach.So no beaches are usable down in South O.Just water up the rocks and unsafe conditions,yet our taxes have increased with the property values.The City Council needs to think hard about this one the errosion is gonna ruin the costline in a matter of time and the houses bordering the rocks will be next.. I really do like all beaches but I find this one to be a little bland compared to others. Its very clean and the people are nice but my problem is how insanely packed it is on a regular basis. I don't enjoy people running by me kicking sand and soccer balls in my face. Its your typical beach. Not much to explore, which is a huge thing I enjoy when going to a beach, so that's a let down. The water is usually pretty calm so that's a plus for general swimmers and children. I'll go to tan with my girl friends but not much else. Not anything eventful. read more

Oceanside beach stretches from Oceanside harbor To just a little south of buccaneer beach with plenty of amazing spots in between. My favorite spot is at Tyson park. If your not familiar drive down "The Strand" on the south side of the pier. When you see the park on the left your at the spot. I love this location because it's just well perfect. The kiddos can play at the park and the beach all in one day. Also a Major plus they have bathrooms and SHOWERS outside so you can rinse all that sand off before you leave .. In the last year or so they have also opened a shaved ice cart that sits right at the park that also wonderful. Ok so the beach and the Sand right now Is wonderful. Bring a towel , boogie board , snacks and Toys and your ready for a wonderful day. Being a native of O'Side I know that this city on a regular basis has to put in work to keep the beach nice. Every couple of years they have the dredge the sand back out of the harbor and on to the beach. So get out . Get some sun and go to the Beach! Oceanside Beach that is! read more

Super enjoy this page for lots of reasons parking is pretty easy for one. 2 - it's very large with lots of space to walk or run. 3 big long nice here to oversee a sunset or sunrise. I've seen people having bonfires out there before and it looks like lots of fun. One downside to this beach is it there's no dogs allowed I feel this bad in about a lot of beaches in San Diego and Coronado is that there are no dogs allowed at the beach. I guess this must be because most people don't pick up after their dogs for the disappointment. Nevertheless this beach is fantastic and has lots of places to shop or eat if you're hungry there's a little coffee set up and serve food across the way it's very tasty and affordable. read more

I like it here. Its a beach. Sand, sun, and ocean. What more can you ask for? You have to pay for parking, lot or meter, unless you plan to walk a ways. I have three little ones and often times come without the hubby so Meter? "yes please". I enjoy Tyson St. Park. (I think that's what it's called.. Lol) But it has a shave ice shack, a playground, and you just have to walk a few flights of stairs from the meter. Happy camper! read more

Not as tacky or crowded and the water is clearly better. This beach is another typical and clean beach in California. If you're looking for a beach that doesn't have to big of a crowd compared to that of other beaches around San Diego county, Oceanside is exactly why you're looking for. I arrived around 8 in the morning, planners day of body boarding, inland skim boarding and overall beach stuff, parking was relatively easy to find, parked right up on the north side of the pier. Other than a few surfers and the joggers out the beach was pretty much empty! South side of the pier is a bit rockier than the north side which has nice smooth sand. Around noon a few more people showed up, but there was still plenty of room to run. Surf their was pretty decent when I went, and the beach is definitely family friendly, if you get a ways out from shore the waves are great for all water sports. The water is clean and a dark dark blue (however I could not see the bottom when standing) There are several bathrooms on both sides of the piers which are a 6/10 at the most but if you have to go you have to go. Showers and tables are right next to the facilities. If you're looking to rent out equipment such as bikes or boards of some sort there is all manner of small local shops to rent just about everything. Overall I give Oceanside beach a 5/5 for it's overall greatness, and I plan to come here a lot.....as I already have! read more

Loved this beach! There was a little playground for the kids to play at and also be able to swim and have fun!! Make sure to be to the left of the yellow flags because the lifeguards will move you.
