    Squirrel...

I have passed this turnoff at least a 100+ times and have never thought of stopping. I thought it would be funny to take a look. It's an interesting stop but as far as a view...well...you can see the ocean....oh and the train tracks. But the part that is wild, is this colony of squirrels who are not as afraid of humans or even dogs. Cako was able to come pretty close to one before he turned and scurried away. It is a nice place to take a break and stretch your legs. We saw a number of company people eating their lunch in their cars or going over notes. Worth a stop if you need to.

The skyset is also beautiful and clear. January 2024.

ASTONISHING VIEWS This is a good rest stop to wake up the GABA in the brain while completing your drive to San Diego. No restrooms. No amenities. Beautiful picture ops. Safe to take a nap if needed. Easy on and easy off to the freeway.

I have driven past this view point quite a few times on my drives to San Diego but never decided to stop here. Usually, I just zoom past the view point but on my last trip I was stuck in heavy traffic. I decided to stop by to take a break from the traffic and check out the view. Las Flores View Point is a small view point with only a few parking spaces for cars. It is only accessible if you are driving southbound on the 5 freeway towards Oceanside/San Diego. There is not much to see other than a view of the Pacific Ocean and the surrounding areas. However, it's a great stop if you want to stretch while taking in the views.

Before you headed to Oceanside,Camp Pendleton,San Diego and including Mexico borde. The great view of the ocean and surrounding is amazing and full of wildlife. My wife and I also stop here relax and take a break from driving look the great view.

Vista Point on the way to San Diego. It's a nice little break if you're into site seeing. Parking: there's about 10 slots and it's quite packed as people love to stop by to view the ocean. and it's free :P Atmosphere: nice weather. I like it whenever I stop by and the horizon is crispy clear and it was pretty clear this past Friday. Lucky me! Surprising, there are A LOT of squirrels running around and are interacting with the public. If you're brave and want some entertainment, bring bread crumbs to feed them!

I've driven past this place many times, and I finally took the time to stop by and enjoy the view. This place is accessible from the southbound 5 freeway. It's about a hundred meters north of the rest stop that lies along the same freeway. There is a nice view of the ocean, atop a hill that overlooks a section of Camp Pendleton. The drive twists and comes to a small parking area. The view for me was ok that day, as it was overcast and did not make for a dramatic photo opportunity. However, I can see this place getting beautiful around sunset. I took in the scenery for a few minutes, then continued on my journey southbound. It was a nice stop along the way. However, there are no amenities here, so I recommend stopping at the designated rest stop a hundred meters south of here if you need a restroom or snacks.

Always a nice place to stop and rest. Kids love the animals here. Best time to stop is during the summer.

I've stopped her on several occasions on the way back from trips to the Los Angeles area. A great place to stretch your legs and people watch. You can also take in an awesome sunset view if you time it right. The downside is that there are no restrooms or vending machines. No problem that's just a short drive away.

    Nasty!

What a disgusting, disgraceful mess. Shame on all of you. Who's responsible for the upkeep? This is clearly more than a couple of days worth of garbage. Folks visiting ANY place, if you see the trash full like this, just take your crap home with you instead of throwing it on the pile. NASTY!!! Trash is rolling down the slope into the critter habitat & even into the ocean. Way to go folks.

Just a small little view point right off the 5 freeway. At first I was really confused as to how we were going to get back on the freeway... but it works out. No need to panic ;) You can stand on a cliff-ish area and take pictures of the ocean... there were a ton of birds, and some squirrels when we went yesterday.

Good place to stop and watch the sunset. You can only get to this location by going south on the 5 freeway. There are not any restrooms or any type of amenities. Just a parking lot with a view. If you have to go to the restroom, just keep going south on the 5 and you will come to a rest stop. If your in the area be sure to stop and take some pictures on your journey.

There's really not much around since it borders Camp Pendleton and is clearly marked US Government Property but that's not a bad thing. It's the perfect place to stop get out of the car, stretch, do a little walking around, visit with the sea gulls and the fat little squirrels they all seem to be very friendly and looking for handouts. If you need a restroom there's one just a few miles up the road but if you don't this is a much better option. Great scenic view of the ocean, take a breath of the fresh air get recharged and keep heading south it only gets better....

The camp spots are all quite close to each other with not much privacy, but that wasn't a problem for me. If you plan on pitching a tent, I really hope you have mats (like we did) because the ground is (as you can see) plain dry ground. The park itself seems really great for biking and just walking around. They have long and short trails with lots of nature to look at. The lakes themselves are not too big, but I did see people fishing. There are many benches throughout the trails. There were also many trees that gave me many options for putting my eno up! Amenities: - 50¢ for 4 min showers - the bathroom is only for campers and it was SO clean. The shower was really warm and i actually felt clean after using it lol

That's the Western half that is more like the park. The Eastern half has walking trails that are more like a nature preserve. Some reviewers commented about how the trails are unkempt, and that's mostly true on the Eastern side and the Nature Trail. It wasn't too bothersome, as most of the trails were wide enough. The annoying part, though, is that there's a lot of dry, dead weeds/plants that carpet the trails with little splinters, which inevitably get into my shoes and jab me. Other than that, it's an easy, flat-ish 4 miles of walking. Lots of birds by the lake. Parking is paid in the lot, but there's also free parking along the street.

Kids can play and be within sight at all times. A group of hula hoop dancers brought out tons of hula hoops after their performance for the kids to play with. There were gymnastic mats too.
