Gorgeous beach with plenty of parking and a playground for kids. I gave a 2 star because of all the rocks that was on the beach. It was really rough to walk towards the water. FUN BEACH w/ GREAT MEMORIES! I've loved this beach for a while, I had field trips here and amazing beach days. The pier is a nice walk and it offers great views, rain or shine. We recently enjoyed a concert in the rain during the Supergirl Surfing competition! The community really cares about this beach, it's pretty clean. The beach has lots of sidewalk and space to explore. I like the mini-amphitheater near the pier as it had lots of seating. read more

Late post !! This beach is my favorite! Love the walk on the pier that offers eateries, retail shops, and entertainment!!! Parking structure is also close to the beach and has several restrooms available. My first trip here was by the Metrolink and train station is also a walking distance to tge beach!! I always enjoy going to Oceanside because it's the closest beach to where I stay. There's a kids play area south of the pier if that's what you're here for. There's a surf school/ jr lifeguards just north of the pier as well. During summertime it's busy all over so expect to be surrounded by people. You can park free by the train station but it's a few blocks to the beach from there with ample amount of spaces. There's plenty of restrooms up and down the beach and also an area to get food and drinks under the pier if you need a little something. read more

Parked (paid parking) just a few steps from the shore. Public restrooms and showers in close proximity. Fun family experience. Played in the water and created sand castles with the grand kids. Came here for a beach day with some friends and our kids. Beach gets crowded but we found a spot. Beach is clean for the most part and there is a paid parking lot by the beach but you can also park in the street which is metered. Honestly - tons of parking around the area and we had no issues at all finding it. There is lots of restaurants nearby too to grab a drink or food after you drain yourself under the sun. read more

It's a beautiful beach, but the people litter terribly Drugs, homeless and kidnapping attempts believe it or not. Unfortunately this beach needs some serious love and the beach during the day has a lot of religious people wanting to pray for you and talk to you that won't take no as an answer. People pan handling and peeing in the showers makes the whole beach stink badly. At night this beach is not the safest for girls especially, bring a man with you if you do want to go for a walk on the pier or beach. The food area has caution tape around the landscape areas to keep people off but it is very ugly. I'm sorry it's not kept nicer and people make it harder to do so read more

Early in the morning on the day of check-out from my resort, I got a chance to walk out to Oceanside Beach. It was a nice short 10 mins walk from resort to beach. I had to walk through a large parking area through a small tunnel then passing through Oceanside Harbor Village before I got to the beach premises. It is a beautiful beach. The water was a little murky, but not dirty or brown just a little gray. I spent a good hour just walking on the beach. In route, I found some little creatures and other interesting things. You'll be surprised what you find on the beach. What I found intriguing was the birds who would fly over my head, land in the water, and play. It was a fun and heart-warming sight. It made me think of the famous quote "Look deep into nature & you will understand everything better" by Albert Einstein. At the end of the day, we are all part of nature... "we are all one in the universe". There weren't a lot of people on the beach, but enough for it to be very comfortable to experience. I saw a young gentleman fishing for clams probably, people with their coin detectors I'm assuming, another gentleman recording the waves, surfers doing their surfing thing, and a brave man walking out to the waters as far as he could go (tides were low I guess). Everyone spends their time differently at the beach... there is no right or wrong way to enjoy... JUST ENJOY! Next time, I will bring my beach chair and just sit, listen, and watch the waves, the birds, and nature at work. Just a wonderful and cool beach to spend solo time and/or family + friends time together. Have an amazing visit! Btw, there is paid parking available. You may park at the overflow on the other side of the Oceanside Harbor Villiage, at the village, or closer to the beach. read more

Oceanside Beach is a lovely place to go out with family and friends and enjoy the sun and the cool breeze the ocean has to offer located in northern San Diego. Oceanside Beach is one of my favorite beaches to go to while in San Diego because of the laid-back environment and waterfront located in Oceanside. The waterfront has plenty to offer from many restaurants and bars and beach activities. Parking isn't really an issue because there is all day parking for cars and also along downtown. There are many vendors here offering nachos, hot dogs, and shaved ice as well. Every time I come here, I see skateboarders, runners, and just people walking along the Pacific coast enjoying their time. There are a couple of parks here along the beach front that have monkey bars, slides, and swings. We like to come here because there is a grass section on the beach that allows BBQ grills. This place is especially crowded on the weekends or any federal holiday. They have surf classes as well and beautiful beach front houses. The fishing pier is amazing, and I can guarantee you won't go home without catching a fish. Overall, this is one of my favorite beaches to go to because of the nice water and waves. The sand is perfect and feels great on your feet. Come here next time you're in San Diego and want to take a tour up north to see this amazing beach! read more

Very nice beach and popular surf spot, however, it is normally pretty crowded, so my recommendation would be to come early.

We came here on a Saturday 7/30/22 arrive around 1:30 pm and parking her is tricky , hard to find parking but not impossible. We circled around the neighborhood a few times and found a spot with coin meters . ( only takes coins ) so make sure to take some along, Max 4 hours stay at the meter. If your lucky can park at any available space in the neighborhood for free . Saw some signs says public parking $5 all day in downtown area , we didn't travel that direction seems like quite a walk with my little ones. Many eateries in the area with in walking distance . We decided to station ourselves between tower 2 & 4 not far from the ocean side pier walk way . Water here is much warmer then LA area , lots of rocks on the sand though . restrooms closer to tower 2 . Life guards on duty at the time we were here . People here seems respectable , except for one gentle huffing weed ugh . Ice cream truck stop by a few times at the sidewalk . Tips: come early Bring coins for meters just incase Bring a wagon to haul your belongs if you have kids. Can grill food using propane, I saw a family used charcoal so maybe check first . We did walk down some steep steps to get to the beach , be cautious with little ones. Or drive down Surf rider way and take a left or right onto The Strand you can load the family off with the beach gear . Then go find parking after . read more

Love this beach, Yeah Oceanside Beach might attract bad elements of people, But it was our first time here, because anytime i go to San Diego, i go further to Mission Beach. Nice beach, just need some tender, loving caring from the city and citizens. Yeah, we saw a bunch of littering and trash around the beach, and we were not cool with that. So we changed our minds and just took a walk around the pier, and had lunch there. We were going to go swimming, but changed our minds. A beach so large it's broken up into many small beaches. This review is for Pier View South, we came here to burn some time while waiting for dinner reservations and chose this spot for the playground and proximity to the pier. It was also walkable from all the restaurants and shopping located downtown and we always like walking because you discover way more compared to driving. There is a pretty steep hill to get down to this beach so if you have young children be prepared to hold their hand the whole way or carry them. It's a bit surreal to have a playground set a stones throw away from the ocean. The kids loved running around the water and then shooting down the slide. Surfing and bodyboarding contests are held here and it is one of the more popular beaches with the amphitheater and pier located here. read more

I had an Airbnb within walking distance in March. But unfortunately I was in the middle of moving to California at the time so I didn't have a lot of time to enjoy the beach. I did go down for sunset and people watching. Even in March it was pretty busy and parking was a little tricky. There are a ton of local shops and restaurants around which is great so you can enjoy a full day in Oceanside. It's a great spot, short review. Nice beach, lots of space, and lifeguards all over. So safety is there. Beach is busy everyday filling up quickly, so get there early. Amenities: The department of recreation had put in brand new bathrooms up and down the beach so there is always an option to use them if you got to. From what I've seen, they look better than the old ones, but still something id pass on... A few places to BBQ with 3-4 tables near, but those fill up fast. A volleyball ball net of the north side of the pier to use. Downside: The rocks and more rock on the north side of the pier. These rocks are all over even in the water, which makes it difficult to enjoy, so wear some water shoes or head towards the south side of the beach where little to no rocks exists. Overall, a Nice beach, with friendly people and a feeling of safeness with all the lifeguards being around! read more

Parking was super easy, which made the whole trip stress-free from the start. The waves were great for bodyboarding -- not too big, but definitely fun! I had a blast riding the waves. There are also outdoor shower stations, which were really convenient for rinsing off after being in the water. A great spot to spend a few hours at the beach without any hassle. What a beautiful beach to visit on an overcast day. The first thing I noticed is that there are surfers at this beach. The second thing is that there are a lot of beautiful rocks and shells, meaning the water here is clean enough for so much ocean life to exist. It's been a while since I've been able to find seashells on the beach, without having to look for them. Because it was overcast, there weren't too many people walking on the beach. I was able to enjoy looking down at all the naturally tumbled rocks, seashells, and seagulls looking for food. With the sound of the ocean waves, it was a very peaceful and pleasant walk. There's a small outdoor coffee shop if you're looking for a cup of the joe, and located directly behind it is an outdoor theater with bleachers. read more

The Oceanside Beach runs the entire length of the city of Oceanside, California, I find the most interesting parts of this beach to be south of the Oceanside pier. One of the great things I love about Oceanside Beach is that it is lined with beautiful rocks, shells, and sea life. Whenever you walk along the shoreline you are going to see all of these beautiful specimens at your feet. Oceanside Beach is obviously a multi-purpose beach. In different sections of it you will find surfers, swimmers, those people playing in the waves, the walkers, the joggers and, of course, the sunbathers. You can't go wrong with any of the beaches in So Cal. I'm going to make this a long story short: It's a beach, refreshes you when you smell the nice air breeze coming from the ocean. Fun fact: about 90%+ is made up of the Earth's water and Carlsbad/Oceanside never disappoints. You have everything there from food, the diversity of people and it's all walking distance (but you still have to pay for parking if you don't get lucky on the streets). . Grab and go eateries are the best so you just camp out in your luxury vehicle with friends or just picnic on the beach. This place is the sh*t. I just have to remember to bring a lawn chair or something next time I go; and when you have your kids swim it's a hassle rinsing them off at one of them fountains along O-Side strand. It gets overly crowded and messy after a long day of fun and it will ruin your outing in an instant. read more

Great beach to hang out at....add an awesome pier and color your day with fun. Something hypnotic about the ocean and the pier take it seem like you are floating on the water. Lots of people watching here and the view is outstanding. We brought our dogs here. Once we got to the point of entering where the Shops and restaraunts were we were reminded of no dogs on the pier by security. Today was a beautiful day to head to the beach so we did just that. The beach was packed with tons of people that had the same bright idea as us today. This beach day was refreshingly different from my last beach experience at Long Beach. Which had a bunch of trash in the sand as well as the water. Oceanside pier however was pretty much perfect. I didn't see a single piece of trash. Which giving the worlds pollution problem is a pretty great thing. All of the people that we encountered were friendly. The walk down the pier as well as the bike ride down the boardwalk was super fun. It was a really sunny day so the water was nice and the waves were great. We also cooled off with some slushy's, fruit cups and cold beverages that we purchased from the Various Shops located right under the pier. I've been to numerous beaches but ocean side is quickly becoming one of my favorites. read more

I LOVE this beach and have so many wonderful memories here. I would love to give this beach five stars for how I feel about it, but overtime this beach has been filled with more and more drug addicts hanging around and no kidding...higher rates of kidnappings and human trafficking. One of my female friends was actually attacked here, almost forced into a van but she fought and was able to run away. It's sad and awful how many cases of missing people or attempted kidnappings there are here. There are police ALL around this area and literally there is a police station near the pier but that has clearly done nothing to prevent all this crime. I hope it gets better because I loved this beach and I want to come here more, but this is definitely an area to watch your surroundings in the daytime, and completely avoid at night. read more

This beach has everything you could want- further north is less busy, especially on weekdays, whereas the pier area is more active, with people surfing, and food options. Both the harbor and the pier are within walking distance if you want to sight-see, or when you get hungry or if you need a bathroom. Parking is challenging, as with every beach, so drop the fam and all your stuff off at the sand and then go park. Even at night, there are enough lights that we felt safe sitting on the sand with hot cocoa one evening. it CAN be rocky where the tide deposits rocks every night. just make a path by dumping a bunch of sand so they don't hurt your feet! read more

I've grown pretty attached to this beach over the past couple years. I've been making frequent trips to nearby Camp Pendleton to visit a family member and have been staying near Oceanside Harbor Village. There's all sorts of activity like volleyball, paddle boarding, surfing and an old 2,000 ft long wooden Pier you can fish off of. Harbor beach is the largest of Oceanside's beaches and has lots of dining and shopping options. It also has bathrooms, fire rings and rinse stations. Lots of locals dock their boats in the Harbor area. My favorite thing about Oceanside Beach is the sunsets. I do lots of walks on this beach and love watching the sun go down. It is super relaxing and the sound of the ocean is nice and soothing. Parking can get crowded in the summer so plan on leaving early. read more
