Oceanside Strand has changed quite a bit! I grew up in Oceanside so to see what it looks like now is mind blowing. I do love to see that he locals and people from all over are enjoying this area. Food vendors serving beach kind of food. Rent a bikes being enjoyed. The beach is packed today. People everywhere. As we drive on the strand a sign, reminding people to social distance. No walking for us today. I noticed that the large restrooms near the amphitheater are being renovated, but there other restrooms available along the north and south side of the strand. Enjoy a stroll on the beach, pier or even a bike ride or cruising in your car. The sunsets have been gorgeous they last couple of weeks!

Oh man. Quite simply put, this beach is becoming ugly. It was bad when they ran the pipe through the harbor to replace the sand, and now they have built a small cliff in hopes of retaining the shoreline. They use a front loader/dump truck-looking thing that just goes back and forth all day along the beach. Besides the disappearing shoreline are the multitude of rocks washing up. You can't even layout and tan because they're everywhere (the side that was clear of rocks has the dump truck). The only plus I saw was the guy making art with them. Pros: - sunsets - walking, bicycling etc - police - restrooms - cruise the strand - bonfires Cons: - aggressive homeless - ugly beach -

Oh there are so many things to do and see at the strand! From the locals to the tourists you see a whole heck of a lot of people visiting the beach. Parking and traffic are bonkers in the summer, especially during tourist season. I tend to come very early and set up shop or I park father away and walk to the beach. Getting in and out of the area takes so local know-how or you're stuck on the road in the afternoon. The beach is wide and there are plenty of places to set up. I prefer to be there not during the popular times, so I usually go before or after summer based on the weather. Most of the time I walk the pier to the harbor. There's so much to do in oceanside, plan a day to see the sights and hit the beach!

Coolest beach I've been to due to several reasons. It's the only boardwalk actually located along the shore I can take my dog. I can skateboard everywhere with him AND watch the sunset. People-watching galore. I can't believe some folks have the audacity to bitch about a beach!! Enjoy life!! This is CalifornIA. Be grateful to be here!!

The strand is one of the best places in all of California and is one of Oceanside's greatest treasures! From tourists, to locals, this beach gets so packed come summertime. The strand is a nice one way road that locals cruise almost everyday to see the water, breathe in that fresh coastal breeze, smell good ole sunblock and people watch. Its a good place to enjoy a nice little workout-I usually walk up and down the strand 3 or 4 times a week. Cars cruising by are at 10mph so its pretty safe to walk/bike ride and usually people are courteous to the pedestrians. The bandshell has a nice set of stadium seating so if you wanna burn those calories thats a good place to run some stairs and break a sweat. Tyson park is on the strand too, so if its too cold to get in the water the kids can enjoy some playtime on the playground they have. There are some local vendors who set up shop and sell snacks daily. Theres also a little fish place under the pier, I haven't eaten there yet, but I've been wanting to check it out. You can rent a bike and cart from a vendor under the pier, not sure on prices, but people rent them all the time. Good for families with small children to enjoy the views! Theres three pay parking lots on the strand but it can get pretty crowded, I usually just park on the street, its free and easier to manage. Pack a lunch, bring a blanket, set up and enjoy the picturesque views of the beautiful beach. You won't be disappointed.

Great place to go for a lite workout. It is a small one-way road that is literally right on the beach. There are paid parking lots at both ends of the strand. You can find free parking on the street above it. Has a fish and chips, bike rental, surf board rental, and shaved ice stand. Police constantly patrol the area as well as life guards. You can sit by the park and people watch or walk your dog/kids. It gets very busy in the summer and on holidays. Water sometimes reaches the strand and closes it when the tide is really high and stormy. Check out The Strand for a nice stroll right on the beach. It can get ghetto at times and bums frequently give it some additional character.

The Strand is classic because tons of people come here and run, walk, bike or drive the Strand. If you are ever in the area you have to come and enjoy the views of the ocean, people and sometimes wild life. I come here before for work because it's so relaxing in the moring to me and everyone here is pretty chill. I think morning is the BEST time to come because it's so much cooler and the people seem a little nicer. There are a few parks to check out and the parks are huge but big enough to enjoy a picnic or play with your dog off the leash which is illegal but you will see it when you're here. I know in the summer it's get crazy with so many people and there is also a snow cone man with his little booth.

There's always something going on here. Very cool, relaxed atmosphere. Pretty good food, bike rentals, surf boards. The strand walk reminds me of Lahaina Rd, front street in Maui.

I was looking for one that was relatively clean, with not a lot of people, and lots of sand with few rocks. Tamarack State Beach is that place! Tamarack is the kind of beach that would make a nice spot for a picnic or a place to watch the sun set. I did neither of those things -- just stayed for a while to let my children get into the ocean and bury themselves in the sand. But they loved this beach so much that we visited twice during our visit to Carlsbad. There was a lifeguard on duty, set up closer to the parking lot where the majority of the people were. If you walk a little ways away, though, there is no lifeguard and the people are fewer. The parking can be a little limited, and you have to pay to park. There is also some street parking, but that's even more limited. Your best best is to hit the parking lot first and maybe circle a couple of times.

Located between Tamarack Avenue and Carlsbad Village Drive, it's a beautiful stretch of coastline. You'll find a little bit of everything here--families, students, retirees, surfers, and plenty of people just enjoying the ocean. On any given day, I saw swimmers, surfers, kayakers, windsurfers, people fishing or beachcombing with metal detectors. The cement promenade running between Carlsbad Village and Tamarack is especially popular, filled with walkers and joggers. It extends for miles, making it perfect for a longer stroll along the coast. Wildlife added to the experience as well--dolphins offshore, along with pelicans, gulls, and other aquatic life. And beyond the traditional surfers, I even spotted the occasional electric hydrofoil (eFoil), with riders gliding above the water in a way that almost seems to defy gravity. Tamarack offers stunning daytime scenery and some truly memorable sunsets. There are some basic rest rooms facilities available. Tip: If you're heading there on a warm day, plan to arrive early--parking fills up quickly!

It sits right on the ocean bluff with two sides, bluff-side (oceanfront) and streetside. Obviously bluff-side is preferred, but staying on the streetside is still a treat. A few things I love about this camping experience: - They allow all forms of camping. Tent, RV, van, etc. - The site has clean bathrooms and warm showers. Just be sure to purchase tokens at the front for the shower. - Dog friendly! You can bring your pet along but they must be on leash and aren't allowed on the beach. - Carlsbad has the most captivating sunsets, and if you're lucky, you'll even see a few dolphins. Truly the most memorable 32nd birthday activity with all my favorite people.

If parking off-site (like we did since we were just there for the evening), be sure to walk back to the main entrance to exit if later at night as the side entrances are locked at sunset. The first time I went I was able to see a few dolphins, or were they sharks? I'm hoping dolphins. You could see the pier from this spot. Pros: - Plenty of street parking (though be aware of when they do street cleaning) - Few benches along the stairs, and at the top near the street - Great views - Dog on leash friendly, especially if you dog loves the water.
