I was craving a sandwich and wanted to try a new spot nearby, so I checked Yelp and stumbled across this place. We got there a little before closing on a Saturday and ordered the Atomic sandwich with pepper jack cheese. They were sadly out of Dutch crunch at the time so we went with soft French bread instead but honestly it still hit the spot. The sandwich overall was soooo good!! I was actually a little upset I had to share it with my husband... definitely should've ordered my own lol. Safe to say I've found my new go-to sandwich spot in the neighborhood. Can't wait to come back and try it with Dutch crunch next time!

I first came to know about ocean subs during the Sunday streets event last year, but every time since that I've had the thought to swing by and grab a sandwich I would check and it'd be after their business hours. But on the way home the other day they were still open so I ran in to order takeout while my husband looked for parking to wait. It's a cute, clean shop and the staff working welcoming. The menus on Yelp were outdated, so I had to take a minute to recalibrate before placing our order. Once we got them home, we both unveiled the largest 8" subs I've ever seen in my life. Filled with meat and fresh veggies, I was pleasantly surprised. I had the atomic sub which I enjoyed and my husband built his own sandwich which he also liked. And both of us had to save the other half for later because they were so big. Would definitely recommend for a solid sub.

Friendly owner and staff at Ocean Subs, who welcomed us in on a Friday around noon. It's a tiny spot with about 4-5 tables, so when we got there, it looked packed because almost all the tables were occupied! We sat down at an empty spot, and then orders were being fulfilled. After 2 groups left with their orders, the place was empty! Most people grabbed their sandwiches to go, but we decided to eat it there, while it was fresh! My guy and I wanted to split a sandwich to try. We got an Atomic Sandwich, which consists of ham, Italian salami, turkey, roast beef, and pepper jack cheese on a Dutch Crunch roll. We also wanted it toasted, too. The bread was crispy and so good! The meat was also cut thin and fluffed, so it wasn't dense. We enjoyed the refreshing, crisp shredded lettuce, the tart pepperoncini and pickles, spicy jalapenos, cool tomatoes, and tasty onions. It was a well-rounded sandwich! Their sandwiches are so reasonably priced (for an 8", a little under $14 w/tax!). You can even get a combo deal: sandwich, chips & soda for another $2.50! Honestly, you can't go wrong here: great sandwiches, great prices, and great service! 5 stars!

    Seafood Sub on a Friday

I stopped by Ocean Subs on Friday to try their seafood sub and it was excellent. One thing that stood out right away was how perfectly the bread was toasted. Many sandwich shops either burn the bread or make it so crunchy that the sandwich falls apart when you take a bite. Here it was toasted just right--warm with a slight crisp but still soft enough to hold everything together. The shrimp and crab mixture had a small kick that added great flavor without being overpowering. I ordered mine plain without onions or peppers, and the sandwich still stood on its own in both taste and consistency. They also had a good balance of veggies to protein, making the sandwich satisfying without feeling overloaded--just enough to really hit the spot for lunch. The shop itself was clean and had a simple, welcoming neighborhood feel. Ocean Subs feels like a true old-fashioned neighborhood sandwich shop. No flashy website or delivery apps--just a local owner making good, honest sandwiches and serving the community one sub at a time. Definitely worth stopping in if you're in the area.

We wanted to try a new lunch spot and found this place a short trip away. It's a smallish shop but there's a lot of personality and character from the friendly folks inside. I ordered the Italian sub. The lady who took my order was patient and helpful. You take a seat if eating in, and they bring it out to your table. The sandwich had a good amount of salami and mortadella and veggies. Their sourdough wasn't too hard so the meat didn't shoot out the back when you bite it... my pet peeve! Great sandwich, great customer service. I'll be back!

So glad I finally went here. As an east coaster this reminded me the most of the Italian hoagies back east. The sandwiches were the perfect bread to fixins ratio. We got the original and the Italian on soft French and they were both knock outs. The service was super friendly and just a chill, dope sandwich spot.

One of my favorite sandwiches I've had, and the people working here are so sweet! The toasted Dutch crunch bread was so perfectly crunchy - definitely a must get! The meat, cheeses, sauces, and veggies are so perfectly balanced. The ingredients feel simple yet so delicious! My favorite was the Italian because I liked the mushrooms and salami taste

Ocean avenue in San Francisco starts on Mission street and on Ocean avenue there is a place to grab sandwiches starting on Ocean avenue. This area has one of the best deli's and sandwich shop options to grab a sandwich within less than a 2 mile radius in San Francisco. Ocean Subs is the newest of the places to grab a delicious sandwich on Ocean avenue. I had to try their Atomic Sub which has different types of meats with cheese , lettuce, onions, and add the tsunami sauce and it hits deliciously different. Overall a must try if you are on Ocean street next to Mission street. I went to Ocean Subs and they bombed me with atomic flavors from their Atomic Sub sandwich with lots of different meats including Salami You should try Ocean Subs they have Tuna , Roast beef and also Pastrami and add the flavorful sauce they have called Tsunami

I don't know what's in these subs but they are addicting! The cold cute and the rest of the ingredients are premium and it really comes through on the quality. You can taste the difference. I only meant to take a few bites but I inhaled the half! The Atomic is the way to go. And get it toasted! Chef Lee is always solid. He doesn't miss so you can't go wrong!

After seeing numerous posts on Ocean Subs on instagram, I've waited long enough to finally dine out today! Living in Portola, I'm a good 15 minutes away (give or take) but I'm usually in the area around 7:30am which is way too early for their 10 am start. Since I was on vacation, today was the right day. I like how they only four options. Not too much confusion of what to order, straight and simple. I ordered the atomic and it was delicious! I wasn't influenced by any online opinions. It was a good lunch Wednesday, eating in the shop and enjoying the atomic. Definitely I'll come back for another one!

Solid sandwich. The flavors were all very simple and well executed. They have a small menu so everything seemed dialed in. The construction and execution of the sandwich were all top tier. Really liked the super thinly sliced meats and quality vegetables. The staff was welcoming and made my sandwich with no attitude despite showing up close to closing time. I hope they eventually get to expand their protein selection a bit but it's definitely a great start. I also hope they have a foot long sandwich eventually 8 inches is light work for a big back.

Solid sandwhich, friendly service, cozy ambiance. I remember when this was Kim's place! Definitely miss it but this is also a good replacement. Only thing I wish they had was more option on sauces for their sandwiches. Maybe some pesto, a house sauce, spicy buffalo. Check them out and make sure to get it toasted

I had passed by it countless times on my bike ride to work without giving it a second thought -- until a co-worker suggested we stop in for lunch. That single visit changed everything. What I found was not just convenience, but quality. The menu was packed with deli classics, and the vibe was laid-back and welcoming, full of regulars who clearly knew this was the spot. I went with the Hot Pastrami Sandwich, and I still think about that first bite. Made with Boar's Head Top Round Pastrami -- hand-trimmed, rich, and smoky -- it was layered generously and coated with spices that hit all the right notes. The meat had that perfect deli texture, tender yet hearty.. They clearly take pride in what they serve, and it shows in every bite. The store may have what you need so you won't have to run to Target, Walgreens or CVS. They don't have music or a tv in the background; it's quiet and peaceful. We noticed this because it was Super Bowl Sunday and they don't have a tv, so we had to go online to check the score. *** OUR PICKS*** RIB EYE STEAK SANDWICH W/SWISS CHEESE ON DUTCH CRUNCH ~ While ordering this, I told myself, this is gonna be GREAT! I couldn't wait to sink my teeth into this sandwich! But when I took a bite, all I could taste was salt?! I'm not sure if the steak was over seasoned or the Swiss cheese made it salty from being cooked, but I've never had that happen when making a sandwich at home. Since there's no place to eat it at the store, we took it home and tried adding more lettuce and avocado to offset the saltiness, but even that didn't help. By the end of the day, I couldn't get my ring off my finger! It was swollen from the amount of salt in the sandwich because that's the only thing I ate. I drank lots of water, but I became bloated. Next time, I'll nix the cheese and order another kind of sandwich and hopefully have a better experience. 3/5 ROAST BEEF & PASTRAMI W/PROVOLONE CHEESE ON DUTCH CRUNCH ~ this was better than the steak sandwich. My guy had this one. It was salty, but it didn't overpower my tastebuds or the sandwich. I only took a bite to try. 4/5 While jalapeño peppers and pepperoncini are sour, spicy and salty, the meat shouldn't be overwhelmingly salty too then the whole sandwich wouldn't be pleasant to eat. There needs to be something bland to balance it. Now in this steak sandwich, I didn't even add jalapeños or pepperoncini. I only had pickles, onions, lettuce, tomatoes. Yet the salt cut through it all and hit me. I believe someone got overzealous with the salt shaker not realizing it was too much. Of course, the customer finds out after taking a bite! Though I think there should be some quality control in making sure it's done right. Maybe taste testing should be a thing. We may come around again and give them another shot. We really enjoyed it the first time and we were hoping for a repeat, but disappointingly, it didn't go as planned.

Now, they toast this bread perfectly that it's crispy on the outside, yet chewy on the inside! That made their sandwiches memorable for us and it's still the same after all these years!
