Ocean Star Nail Spa - Gel X nails. French - Nail Salons Near Me - Old Saybrook, Connecticut

Unfortunately, I would not recommend this place for pedicures. Staff is very nice and the place is very clean, but it was the worst pedicure I've ever had. Didn't even scrub my feet or clean under my nails. It was a simple cut and polish.. women who gave back messages was very nice and did a great job. read more

The woman who did my toes and nails did not speak English, kept leaving and looking at her phone, so it took over two hours. She scratched my foot with what looked like a cheese grater they use for callus removal - i couldn't wear closed shoes for a few days after. Cuticle cut either too deep it hurt or not sufficient, and nail polish was all over my nails. I will not go back. read more

The nail tech that I got did just an OK job. Some more nail polish probably would've smoothed out the bumpiness. She couldn't speak a word of English, or if she did, she wouldn't speak it. It's like she doesn't like the customers. There are also many male nail techs and I don't feel comfortable with a man touching my hands and feet. I don't think I'm coming back to this salon. read more

I was very happy with the pedicure I received and will continue to go there for services. Unfortunately I wasn't aware that they accepted credit cards for services however the tip need to be paid in cash. I paid by credit card and used the bank machine in the salon to withdraw money for the tip. The next morning I received notifications from my bank that my debit card showed suspicious activity indicating my card was used in several locations that same day. I used the debit card at this location only. It was the first time I had used this debit card and obviously will be the last. when I visited their website its indicates "unsecured". So my advice is to pay cash only at this establishment. read more

Very impatient not at all helpful with formula and color selection, didn't understand English well enough to communicate or attempt to communicate basic preferences. Very rude and unfriendly to the point of being nasty. Seek another salon. Very unprofessional and immature. read more

I have been going to this business for several years and have seen the history so I know 1st hand the past several months, due to covid and the original owners where in fact away, and we're doing the best they could to operate from a far. NOW there are new owners who have bought the salon and are doing a revamp that is even BETTER than before. They have tons of new gel options Also for a limited time they are running a special that if you spend more than $50 (I believe) you get a feee pedicure gift certificate Check them out! You might want to call ahead and make an appointment cos they have staff, however walk ins are hit or miss and good help is hard to find these days. read more

Ocean Star Nail Spa - Nail Extensions/ dip powder - Nail Salons Near Me - Old Saybrook, Connecticut

I wouldn't recommend this place to any one. I got horrible service. my nails are all scratched up from the file, and there is nails polish all around my nails. I told him I wanted shorter nails and he got upset with me and filled them aggressively. I'm very upset about how bad my nails came out for the price I paid. read more

Expert service, great color choices! Had a beautiful gel manicure a week ago. I nicked a nail and came to have it redone. they fixed it, no charge. I fully expected to pay as it was my fault. such gracious service. Such a pleasure to have my nails done here!!! read more

Such a lovely morning!! Some friends and I booked mani/ pedi treatments to kick off a mini vacation. We were all more than pleased with our services. I decided to give this place a try AGAIN. It has new owners, so I have heard. I went a few times Few years ago, and never went back. Guess what??!! It's now going to be my new place to get pedicures. Everyone is so nice. Let's hope it stays that way. It's so clean too. Thank you to all of you there for making me feel so welcomed. read more

I continue to love this place. I recently started getting gel manicures and I am so impressed with the quality of their work. A few of my nails chipped within a few days so I popped back in to see if they'd clean them up. They didn't hesitate to fix them. I do find with the gel manicures, however, that most of the time is spent on prepping the nails and applying polish. The scrub and hand massage is a small part of the service- would love to see them prolong that part of the service. But I can't complain- they rub my back and neck while waiting for the old polish to soak off. read more

Phenomenal pedicure! Great attention to detail. Anytime I'm in town this will now be my go to place.

I came in on Friday for a gel polish (French). They were nice, courteous, and professional. BUT, the gel started bubbling and peeling by Monday. Nearly all of my nails. By Tuesday, it was a mess, so I just peeled the rest of it off. It came off a little too easily. I don't think they adequately prepped my nails. I hadn't been for a manicure since January, so there wasn't any residual stuff on them. I was so disappointed. I'm dealing with way too much right now and don't have the time to go back and have them correct it. :( read more

Very kind, great service, takes the time to make sure your nails are done the way you want. Very clean & professional.

OPEN on Monday. I am visiting the area and did use a highly recommended salon in Clinton last year, but they weren't open, and I am glad. They cost twice as much & were very impersonal. Ocean Star treated me like a queen, the short pedicure - I don't want to spend 2 hours getting a pedicure - removed calluses, & included a shoulder massage with heated rock while your polish is drying. I also had a face wax. Manicure with one sns nail repair, lip, chin & neck wax & pedicure with shoulder massage all for less than $70 & treated like a queen during the process. I wish they had a branch near my home. read more

I was totally bummed by my pedicure- it stressed me out - I can't believe I paid to be stressed... The woman was going to leave dirt under my nails. The first time I went here I would have given it 5 stars. The woman who did my gel manicure was amazing. She did each step one nail at a time and then went straight under the UV light. These lasted over 2 weeks. However, the last couple times the gentleman who did my nails did them all at once and then under the UV. Within 2 days they were chipping. I went back and 2 nails were completely redone and another coat added on to the other nails. It was done the same way as the last time he did it and once again within 2 days they were chipping again, to the point that it broke my nails. read more

I've been here several times now over the past nine months, and I've been extremely satisfied every time. It's very peaceful and relaxing and the customer service is excellent. I've never had to wait, and I have had several different nail technicians and they're all great. They don't do acrylics here, and I personally like that because there are no harsh chemical smells or the dust in the air. The basic $13 manicure includes regular nail services but also a hand/arm scrub, a paraffin wax dip, a hot stone massage, and a warm lotion arm/hand massage. I haven't yet had a pedicure, but plan to soon!! read more

Our second time in this summer. Great friendly service. Ryan and his staff are great. Our go to nail salon for sure.

We had to wait around for a while as they didn't open on time. We did however have a great experience once inside, this business is clean and has a friendly atmosphere. We were pleased with our services and we treated ourselves to a few. The ladies working on us were pleasant and professional, we definitely would recommend this place to others. read more

I visited Ocean Star Nail Spa today after having a horrible experience at another salons. THEY SAVED MY NAILS! They are also super sweet.

Really disappointed in my recent spa pedicure with Callous removal. My callouses were rough and I needed to redo the bottom of my feet when I got home. I loved this place! Always did a great job but I'm not sure if I will go back. I feel like I just threw away $45 plus tip. read more

I was so impressed with how clean it was and how friendly they were. They use new tools on every customer and they have bags for the pedi stations. I went in for a Mani pedi on a Saturday afternoon and they told me that it would be about 10 to 15 minutes before I was able to be seen. I was a little worried that it would be a rushed job but they took the time and did an amazing job on my nails. I had a raspberry pedicure with that you get either a 10minute chair massage or an eyebrow wax. The only thing is they didn't ask me what I wanted and assumed I wanted a chair massage So when I was getting my mani one of the other girls started giving me the massage I thought that this was included because the person sitting next to me also had one. I ended up going to cozy nails on Main Street to get my eyebrows done because of this and spending more money. However, the girl doing my nails gave me coupon to use the next time. I will be back but I will be more clear on what I want the next time. read more

This is one of the best nail salons I have ever been to! I have been there twice so far and I think this will now be the only place I go for an acrylic fill for my nails. It is the same price as other local nail salons, with the bonus of kind, courteous service, not to mention paraffin and hand/neck/shoulder massage. No one else does that! It is so relaxing. I am recommending this salon to everyone who wants to feel pampered. read more
