Came for Memorial Day for the first time and honestly do not recommend. Went on a group trip with a family who has been going for about 20 years. They rented a one bedroom signature suite and a two bedroom signature suite. The two bedroom was beautiful but the one bedroom which was the one I was staying in had nothing upscaled or signature about it. To begin we were welcomed with a musky humidity smell when we entered. Our bedroom had a double bed not queen as listed on the reservation. The toilet seat cover was cracked and the lighting was dimmed. The couch and ottoman were stained as well and the walls had some stains. The kitchen light did not work at all so we were unable to cook dinner as we had planned. Instead had to take all of our ingredients to the other suite and cook there. After calling customer service twice and informing them about the kitchen lighting and the very small, noisy and uncomfortable bed, their solution was to leave us a table lamp on the kitchen counter. The next morning we went to the office to share about our unpleasant stay. The shift manager working informed us that they are not able to fix the lighting issue and need to order a part in order to fix. Which in our opinion is not the consumers fault and we shouldn't experience an unpleasant stay due to that. She also shared she was approved to provide us with a $100 credit (we still haven't seen this on the CC bill) and were given an email address if we were not satisfied with the $100 to share our concerns. A few days after returning an email was sent and it's been a week since and still no response or credit. It is very disappointing that while everything is so expensive you save what you can to plan and book a vacation to enjoy with family and friends and end up with such a horrible experience and service. They need to correct the room/suite descriptions on their website and ensure that if you are paying for a signature, you are not receiving a standard so this doesn't occur again and isn't seen as false advertisement.

We will be staying here for the 3rd time in 3 years next week. Always come in February President's weekend. Always rent from VRBO. We rent 2 condos each time and all have been great. You will read bad reviews on this place but I think all of those bad reviews are from people who rented through a hotel company. The building and grounds are well maintained. We like the pool and large hot tub. The beach is small but well cared for as they will rake up the seaweed as often as necessary. We are boaters, but do not bring our boat as it would be a 20 hr drive. But I'm impressed with the marina and the quality of boats that are docked there, and on trailers in the parking lots.

Where to begin... 1st go somewhere else, we checked in on a Monday late afternoon. Was told our reservation would not be ready till 5pm, even though we requested early check in. Front desk service shitty gave us a comparable room. Long story short it wasn't even close. Back to front desk after starting to get irritated they magically had something we should have got the first time. Restaurant has been hardly open. Pool bar opens late afternoon for a couple hours. Our room another laundry list of issues. If you're going to charge me FULL price than ALL your advertised amenities shall be available. There is no onsite water activities. Beach is hard packed feels like sand spread over cement. The room is advertised for 4-6 people, 1 roll of TP per bathroom, 1 dishwasher tablet, 1 miniature bottle of dish soap, no basics like salt and pepper. Pots an pans look like they were purchased at a yard sale no usable lids. Stayed for a week no cleaning services at all. Should be 1 visit midway to clean and replace useable items. We had to buy ice cube trays along with basic items. Front desk advertising ice but cooler is always empty. Impression of Front desk employees is inexperienced and an obvious desire to be anywhere else then here attitude. Toilet is free hanging off the wall, shower has NOOOo water pressure, here that doesn't exist . We saw a 3" cockroach in the bathroom. Floor is dirty, this is not COVID cleaned.

I think this place varies greatly based on the time of year and the room you get; luckily our room was clean and was better than the photos! While there was a little rust/dirt on the fridge and the pull-out couch was difficult to put away (likely broken), overall it was in good condition! Our 2 bedroom suite had 2 bathrooms and 2 very small balconies that overlooked the water. We enjoyed the pool and beach area but the cafe should be avoided (understaffed). They also have a hot tub, tennis courts, boat ramp, and small marina for rent. It was a peaceful vacation with few other guests around during our visit which was surprising during spring break

Pam the expect you to cook on

Not even worth 1 star. Although the rooms are similar as photographed online they are extremely photo shopped and when you walk in the room your like what the heck?! What year did I travel back in time to?! At least 4-5 different tiles , smells like your grandmas . No matter what you cook or spray the smell is in there. I will say they were nice , staff is friendly and accommodating.

I love this hotel! We are in the Bonefish building. You can see a beautiful sunrise over the ocean every morning. There is a lot of wild life here as well. Iguanas, Pelicans, fish, jellyfish and more! The pool and beach are wonderful too.

Location - The hotel is right off of Interstate 1 and in the middle of Key Largo. You are just down the road from a Publix, shopping center, and a number of restaurants. John Pennecamp State Park is really close as well. Rooms & Building - The hotel is going for a retro tropical tiki vibe. It is probably not for everyone but I digged it. Rooms are spacious and offer the typical Hampton Inn layout. The grounds were not like typical Hamptons though, well manicured and full of beautiful tropical plants. This location had a much more Hilton resort vibe without the resort price. Amenities - The hotel had a small beach area that overlooked the ocean. You can borrow kayaks to take out on the water but it was so windy the day we were there, you would have no luck getting anywhere (we watched a poor couple try to no avail). There is a pool with a pool bar but everything was so cold, it was closed and the pool was somewhat uncomfortable to swim due to the temps and wind, so we passed. Food - Pool bar was closed but we did enjoy the free breakfast buffet. Typical Hampton Inn offerings including make your own waffles, eggs, breakfast meat and an assortment of continental offerings. My kids loved that there was a ton of toppings (including key lime syrup!) available for the waffles, we made some pretty crazy combos. Vibe - Easy going and super friendly staff. No complaints. Reality vs. Online - Pictures that I saw on their website and online matched the quality and condition of the hotel and rooms in-person. No surprises. Price & Final Verdict - It was more than what I normally would pay for a Hampton Inn at $240 a night but the Keys are spendy during tourist season. Too bad it was so cold it didn't feel much like it! Oh well, our MN luck. Weather aside, the property was nice and it would have been cool to utilize the water sports and water area. On a nicer day, I feel like these would be great bonuses to the property and added value to the stay. If I'm back in Key Largo, I'll give this place another view.

I've recommended it to so many people because our stays were consistently close to perfect. Unfortunately, our last few visits have felt noticeably different, with enough recurring issues and changes that they no longer feel isolated. Housekeeping and room maintenance have become inconsistent. Across recent stays, we've encountered dirty mirrors and sinks, hair and dirt left behind, a stained towel, clogged sink, broken door lock, and missing room amenities that used to be consistently provided. During another stay, housekeeping loudly knocked between 8-9 AM asking about checkout two mornings in a row when we weren't checking out. Most recently, our mini fridge was essentially a freezer, freezing my dog's food and eventually causing a seltzer to freeze and explode around 6 AM, blowing the fridge door open and waking us up scared. Dining has changed considerably too. Calusa has closed at 9 PM instead of 10 PM due to lower occupancy, which makes enjoying dinner after sunset difficult. The dinner menu could use more variety and consistency, although the braised short rib is AMAZING! Bread service has also disappeared, as has one of my favorite amenities, ordering food directly to Hammock Beach. Breakfast may be the biggest disappointment. The old menu has essentially been replaced by a $40-per-person buffet. During our stay, the limited alternative menu went from being available upon request to suddenly not being offered at all. We, along with several other parties, left the resort for breakfast instead. The buffet itself also feels like a downgrade from the breakfast experience we used to love. Another concern is that more things cost extra while fewer extras seem to be included. Overnight parking now costs extra, as do kayaks and paddleboards. I completely understand charging day-pass guests for activities, but overnight guests are already paying for their room AND a resort fee. Charging those guests again for basic resort activities while other included amenities disappear contributes to the feeling that we're paying more while receiving less. Even little touches have changed, like sunset champagne going from acrylic flutes to basic plastic cups. Individually these things may sound insignificant, but together they affect whether the experience feels like a luxury resort or simply a nice hotel. There is still so much I love. The property and sunsets are beautiful, and I LOVE how dog-friendly the resort is. Peter, Stacey, Tashana, Valdez, and Miguel at Calusa have also consistently been wonderful and deserve recognition. I'm writing this because I genuinely love this resort and know how great it can be. Lately, though, we find ourselves leaving the property to eat or find experiences we previously enjoyed right here, which starts to defeat the purpose of choosing a resort (and paying a resort fee). For me, five stars represents the luxury experience we consistently received here in years past. I'm giving four because there is still so much I love, but our recent stays simply haven't been at that same five-star luxury level. I truly hope it gets back there.

We booked a three night stay at Bakers Cay Resort and found it to be an overall good experience. VIBES - This resort had a boutique resort feel. Loved all the lush tropical plants growing throughout. Everything was bright and airy and really leaned into the Florida Keys vibe you'd expect. At Dry Rocks, the Mexican-inspired beach restaurant, there's even swings and couches to dine al fresca! POOLS & BEACHES - Hammock Beach was particularly neat because it was more of secluded spot with mangroves covering the majority of it. This gave little hideaway type areas to relax without feeling like you were right on top of other guests. Loved the waterfall at the family pool. Lounging there in the morning before the sun was bearing down was definitely the way to go. The main beach offerd up a tiki bar and plenty of louge chairs. AMENITIES - There's a wide variety of activities to do. After you check in they will ask if you want alerts about the happenings at the resort. From movie nights, to morning yoga, to champagne toasts - there's a little something for everyone. There's also self scheduled activities like kayaking and paddle boarding. BONUS - It's dog friendly! So bring your behaved furry friend. They have plenty of waste stations throughout the resort and everyon seemed to do a great job cleaning up after their pet. Loved getting to see all the furry friends. Even if it made me miss our girl. There were a couple drawbacks unfortunately that kept us from giving Baker's Cay Resort the full five stars. Everything was super expensive. Even counting our food and beverage credits it felt like everything had been priced to ensure that truly made no difference. I mean it was $100 for us to eat at a self-service breakfast buffet that I swear said it was included in our stay. Yikes! Next, the adults only pool was undergoing maintenance during our stay. Luckily it wasn't too crowded at the family pool. Lastly, someone brought a dog that just wasn't the best behaved and barked incessantly when it was down near the water at Hammock Beach; which unfortunately for us was right under our balcony. Baker Cay Resort definitely fit the bill for a fortieth birthday celebration splurge. So if you're looking for boujee with solid amenities Bakers Cay is for you - just call ahead to verify if the pool is open and save your pennies to ensure you can afford the room charges at the end.

Our daughter was recently married here and we did a full three-night resort buyout. While the property itself is absolutely stunning the nine months leading up to the wedding were incredibly frustrating. Communication was consistently poor--weeks would go by without any response. We were promised a Florida Resident Discount by two different general managers, but it was never honored. (This is a significant discount that we did not get as promised). In total, we went through four general managers, each making new promises that never materialized. Even weeks before the wedding, when we were trying to make final payment, we couldn't get a response. When I finally raised concerns with the newest manager, her response was, "I have like six brides all contacting me at once." With all due respect, that's not how you handle a time-sensitive, stressful situation for a bride and her family. To add to the confusion, their website still showed units available just days before our event--even though we had rented out the entire resort. The units themselves are not equipped as expected either--we had to go out and purchase basic items like dish towels, a dish scrubber, pot holders, and more. Their new lanai roof leaks and ruined a couple of the custom built items we thought were safely stored since it's a brand new structure. We unpacked the U-Haul when we got home and had cockroaches in a few of the things stored in the main house.

We chose to rent and drive from the airport because we had a trip to Key West planned. It's about a 90 minute drive from the airport so, an Uber would have been pretty costly. The valet takes care of your luggage and places it on a golf cart while you check in. The check in process took about 10 min. The front desk staff wasn't super friendly but they weren't rude either. They are supposed to offer you a drink, but we were not offered one by our receptionist while the couple next to us were offered one. No biggie. One thing to note: when you book, 50% is due. Then the other 50% is due thirty days prior to your arrival if you switch your source of payment, they charge you 10%. That same card has do be used for gratuity or add ons. Keep this in mind when you plan. Also, they put a $100/day hold on your card when you check in. After check in, the valet takes you on a tour of the property and then brings you to your room. You'll want to have cash for gratuity for the valet. The Bungalows themselves are gorgeous and offer an outdoor area and outdoor shower. I don't think the beach view bungalows are worth the upgrade. After that, you're on your own for the most part. They schedule your dinner, but other than Bogie and Bacall, they are pretty flexible. Fish Tales is the main restaurant. They offer a four course meal. The food was great. I wouldn't say "amazing" but really well done. The service is impeccable. This is an all inclusive bur gratuity isn't included. This was annoying and probably my biggest complaint. At the end of your meal you are handed a check of all you consumed with a recommend range of gratuity. You put in what you want to leave and sign it and leave. The issue is, it's hard to keep track of how much you're spending. So if you're on a budget, that can be a problem. At night everyone gathers around the tiki bar to enjoy the entertainment. There is only one bad and it fills quickly. The bartenders are also filling drink orders for the pool, and in some situations, Sea Seniors next door. You can also order food at the tiki bar if you choose. It's basic bar food and pizza but quite delicious. There is live entertainment daily from 11-11. There was trivia one night, and karaoke another. But there were no real events offered. In the mornings everyone heads to Fishtales for breakfast. There is a good variety of choices, including a buffet. They do not change it up at all though. So it can get a little boring day after day. They also have a mimosa and bloody Mary self serve bar. Pro tip, bring your own yeti and take two plastic cups of minosa and some ice and put them in your yeti for the pool. There are no drinks served until 11 am at the pool which was pretty odd in my opinion. The tiki bar also doesn't open until 11. It was off season but I will say that the pool didn't really get busy. There are two pools. Ok is a zen pool with little cabana beds. It's more quiet there but the main pool was described as the party pool and he was really chill too. There are about 12 pairs of lounge chairs and umbrellas and two big cabanas with couches. It didn't seem like there would be enough but it ended up to be plenty. We w They have servers come around the pool but it takes quite a bit to get your drinks so pack your patience. They also give you a bill at the end with what you ordered and suggested gratuity. It was easy to forget and just leave so I hated this process. I would have rather been charged a daily gratuity to be split between the staff but that's not what they want to do. Bogie and Bacalls: you get a free night there if you stay for more than 4 days. If you don't it's $300 plus gratuity. This was their high end restaurant and it wand spectacular! You get a ton of food and premium drinks. Expect to tip about $100 here. There is an indoor bar/speakeasy called Hemingways. This is not included in your stay. It's premium cocktails and liquor. There is also the "Family Room" which is a giant indoor/outdoor game room. There are no servers there. If you have a yeti, you could grab a few drinks from the tiki bar and keep it cold. There is a huge TV so we were able to watch the USA game on it with a few other guests. I chose to get a massage. It's a beautiful area of the park but there's no way that 50 min massage was worth $300 + 22% gratuity. They offer water activities. No one was using them. There are some other ads ons but very few guests chose to do them. Overall this is a wonderful, very chill spot and I can see why many guest come back year after year. I wish there were more dining and bar options, and more events offered. The cost was pretty high for what they offer. But we had an amazing time and I'm so glad we did it!

    - Disappointing Stay, Misleading Photos, Poor Response from Management…read more My wife and I stayed in the La Palma Suite for her birthday getaway. We chose this property based on the photographs shown online and the overwhelmingly positive reviews. Unfortunately, our actual experience was very different. The biggest issue was that the room we received did not reflect the condition portrayed in the photos. While it appears the property may have been renovated years ago, much of what we found showed significant wear and deferred maintenance. Some of the issues we encountered included: * A bed that creaked loudly with virtually any movement, making it difficult to sleep. * Shower water that never became truly hot and had very low water pressure. * Mold or mildew buildup visible beneath the sink rim and inside the sink overflow opening. * Rust and corrosion on bathroom fixtures. * Upholstered furniture that was stained, worn, and damaged. * A closet door that would not properly close because it was off track. * Exterior areas that looked noticeably different from the photographs used in advertising. * General cleanliness and maintenance concerns throughout the suite. After reporting the bed issue, management acknowledged the problem and offered to move us to another room with a new mattress. We packed our belongings and prepared to move. However, before the move could occur, the replacement room was reassigned to another guest. We were later informed that because we had not responded quickly enough, the room was no longer available. What disappointed me most was not simply the condition of the room, but the lack of meaningful resolution after management recognized there was a problem. Once a room change was offered, I believe it should have been held until direct contact was made with the guest. To be fair, my wife and I still enjoyed our time in the Florida Keys and had a wonderful birthday celebration. The location is beautiful. However, the accommodations themselves did not meet the expectations created by the property's marketing photographs, and management's handling of the situation left us disappointed. I encourage future guests to look carefully at recent traveler photos and ask questions about the current condition of the specific room they are booking before making a reservation.

Kitchen has a sink, microwave, coffee pot and fridge. We brought our own Keurig to make coffee though. Quiet, old Florida vibe. Friendly people. Free breakfast on site. We drove to Publix to get supplies to make sandwiches for lunch and frequented local restaurants for dinner. We would stay again.
