i cannot stress how awful my experience was. she did not do what i wanted at all. i asked for a green and pink ombré nail, she made a pink nail with spray painted green whatever you wanna call this. the shape was supposed to be long oval shape, i showed her a reference picture and all, and she gave me this mess. she couldn't shape the nails to save her LIFE. yall see how crooked these nails are? so ratchet. she has no business being bending the nail salon desk. playing all up on my nails. 70$ for this mess. look at the index finger and how much she messed it up. the nail is pointing so far east it's ridiculous. AND I TOLD HER ABOUT IT and she half ass*d fixed it and then went right back and snapped it even more worse. i was just so peeved and ready to go!!!! i was looking forward to this exact set for a while and she really ruined my day and set. i was in there for 2 and a half hours for this, THIS! just awful. do yourself a favor and never go here. she will freestyle your nails and make them look a hot garbage mess. read more

I've been here once before and I think my first visit was the better of the two. Today I had a hard time finding a place to park because there are these strange, large pieces of concrete that each block a full 2 spaces in an already small, shared lot. Once in, the wait wasn't long and my pedicure was fine, but there was this lack of relaxation. First, there was a smoke alarm chirping every 2 minutes or so. Replace the GD battery already!!! Then there were 2 TVs playing with sound about 2 feet apart on the wall across from me. They were on 2 different stations! At least put them on the same station!! Theeeeennnn there was a lady who came in with a crying infant. I love babies, but damn!! She was having a pedicure and just let the baby cry. Didn't even look into the carrier. She just totally ignored her crying baby. THE WHOLE TIME! I wanted to scoop the baby up and rock her so badly. I was so anxious and keyed up that I was ready to explode. I came to this nail salon as I had a last minute need and my usual salon could not get me in. The salon was clean and the people were friendly enough, but unfortunately that was all I got from the appointment. I got a pedicure with gel and a refill with gel polish. The pedicure was average, my nail tech was a little rough with the massage and it was pretty uncomfortable at certain points. My manicure is where I was most disappointed though. It was very painful- the filing, the buffing everything had me pulling my hands away. When she asked about the shape I let her know I wanted square round, and was very specific about not wanting my nails flat on top. She tried many times and I attempted to explain again and again but she could not get the shape right and was visibly frustrated as was I. My nails are not at all square round, and on top of that they are all different lengths and shapes because she didn't compare them to each other before finishing. I spent over $100 for my two services and am going to have to go elsewhere and pay more to have them fixed. I'm very disappointed and will not be returning. read more

Wasn't satisified with the service I recieved at my second appointment. Took over 2.5 hours for a refill and toe polish! My friend got a toe polish by someone else (not Julie) and it was horribly sloppy. She started my toe polish and Julie had to remove what she started and repolish, so sorry for my friend! :/ Will not be back, especially since the location is out of my way. I have since found a modern nail salon (Head2Toe) that does great work, is in a convenient location, and works efficiently- I went in at 9 without an appointment and was out by 10, perfect! read more

went in for my first time around noon on a weekday and the place was empty so I didn't have to wait. appearance wise, the salon is very clean and tidy & decorated for the holidays. I liked that the polish colors are painted on a plastic wheel so you can see them without opening the bottles and all at one time. she was very helpful when I was picking out a color & is right on with the trends! the owner Julie did my gel manicure & the younger girl did my pedicure. over a week later they both look perfect. both ladies were super attentive & nice, we talked the whole time. i've never been one to maintain my nails via a salon but I will DEFINITELY be back!! Worst pedicure I have ever had. I went with a friend after getting lunch down the street. We walked in and were immediately seated at pedicure chairs without being informed that the internet was down and they would only be able to accept cash or that it may be a hour before someone would be able to help us. After 25 minutes of soaking, one pedicurist started my pedicure. My friend waited an additional 25 minutes and left after we observed that no one would be available to help her anytime soon. No explanation or apology was offered in the time she was waiting. My pedicurist was reading the instructions while performing my deluxe pedicure and only used the products up to my ankles. And finally when it came time to pay and I was informed it would have to be cash, they asked my to go next door and use the restaurant ATM. They deducted the $2.50 atm fee, but my bank will still charge an additional $2 and the experience was not worth the over $40 I spent. read more

I LOVE this little salon! It's clean, staff is friendly & it's very reasonably priced! It's about $40 for a deluxe pedi w/ a regular manicure added on. ***I will say though, they take their sweet time, if you're looking to get in and out quickly you may need to look elsewhere, it does take a longer than I'm used to for the services....but they do an excellent job! Paint is never on my fingers or toes, they take the time to meticulously file & wait for the layers to dry a minute or two between coats. I'd highly recommend this place to anyone with the time to enjoy your service. I've had Julie do my nails twice and Mai has done my toes once & I would recommend them. It does appear that everyone in the salon does a great job though! read more

*acrylic fill + shellac review*** I'm new to the area and was in desperate need for a fill. The location was close to my house, so I thought I would try it out after reading some good reviews. There were no other customers when I walked in today, a Wednesday, around 3 o'clock, and 2 ladies working. The girls sort of took turns on me as other customers came in, but I always had someone working with me. Julie was wonderfully attentive to detail, and it took me this visit to realize how whacked the oval shape of my acrylics had gotten over time. She fixed this without asking, thumbs up. I was pretty needy with the design I wanted (I'm always a challenge), and the younger girl working seemed frustrated by my requests. Julie then took back over and gave me pretty close to what I originally wanted, but all that matters is that they look great and I love them! The place was very clean from what I could see. The only hygienic factor that bothered me was that the brush I used to clean my hands was at the sink soaking in barbicide with one other brush. I suppose that means it's clean but it kind of threw me off. For this, and the fact that my visit was about 2 hours, I give 4/5. Shellac ($15) and a design ($10) on top of my fill ($20) was well worth it, and I will be visiting Julie again. update: my shellac started falling off within 3 days of my visit, and nail chipped within 5....... 3 starts read more

I hate to judge a place based on 1 employee but I had an unpleasant experience and I feel the owner/manager needs to know. First, I had an apptmt at noon. I called to verify they could take me at 12:00 and they said yes. No one started on my pedicure til about 12:40. I sat there with me feet in the water for abt 40 mins. (This has happened to me there before and I walked out. They said yes we can take you and 30 mins later I was forced to leave bc I had an event to go to. So I went without having my nails done :/ I understand they don't want to turn away business, but if you're going to have to wait a really long time just let the person know). However, this really didn't upset me. I understand they take walk-ins etc. Like I said, that was not the issue. The girl that did my nails (not the owner Julie) was just sloppy. I had to ask her to do certain things that are pretty basic in a pedicure. My main problem was that she was painting on the skin a lot- and yes you can take it off with nail polish after (which she mostly did) but I have pale skin and the color was dark red so now I have stains from the polish around my toes and my skin looks reddish outside of the toenail. That being said, I tipped the girl $3 on the $25 charge. I thought that was just fine considering I really wasn't happy with how my toes looked. When she handed my card slip to sign, she hovered over me until I signed. Then when I wrote in tip, she very rudely said "ok. Ten percent!" And walked off. NOT OKAY. In addition, I had seen her be sort of rude while she was doing my toes when another customer handed her two dollars as a tip on her way out. Bottom line- be happy you're getting tipped. I found this very distasteful and entitled. Sad to say bc I think the owner is really nice and the place is close to my house, but I think I will avoid this place so I don't encounter this rude girl again. read more

I waited very shortly before she started and the gel french she did is still on my nails and only just started to chip. I have had it on for a month and a half. The manicures and pedicures always last a long time, however they are not worth the wait. The workers here jump between clients and never can commit to just getting one person in and out. Went to City Nails around the corner intitally but they were pa ked. I ended up yelping this place and going to try it out. I'm happy i did because I love my nails and can't wait to go back to get them done again. Ms. Julie was so nice and welcoming! You could tell that she really cares about her work. I went in the evening before and asked for a pedicure and a full, apparently there was some misunderstanding because they sat 4 people before me that came in AFTER me, so I left. Then I went back today, the pedicurist(love her by the way) remembered me from yesterday and immediately apologized and sat me in a chair. I got my pedicure then sat at the dryer to let them dry. 20 minutes later they asked me to sit at table for my fill, I waited for over an hour! The lady I like came and began my nails then said Julie would finish but by this point I I had been waiting for an hour and a half. I was so upset that I wasted my time just sitting with barely no acknowledgement. I asked to pay for my pedicure and left. Julie begged for me to stay and apologized but I was over it ! First time experience at Ocean. Woke up on a holiday to a broken nail. I called almost every salon in the city and I actually received a phone call back from Mrs Julie inviting me in to get the nail fixed. I arrived and she greeted me nicely. I originally just wanted my nail fixed, but noticed that my set was in need of a refill. After further conversation, Julie felt it best to change out the set and even insisted that I try dip powder. Let's just say, I LOVE IT! She made me feel comfortable and my nails look amazing. Shaped perfectly! I can't wait to return. read more

I went here bc I didn't want to drive across town to my regular lady. Maybe they were busy(only 2 others in chairs) but I felt the service was sub-par. I was asked to remove my own nail polish, which I found to be absurd considering I was paying for a manicure. But she ended up doing it anyway after I didn't do it. The younger lady doing my nails acted indifferent because I told her I wanted only 2 coats of polish and not 3 and then caught an attitude.
