Coming from San Francisco Bay Area , I was not expecting much when my friends drag me to this place. I lived in MO for 3 years back in the 1980's. I have been disappointed too many times by Chinese restaurants in small towns. But I was truly shocked by how good most of the dishes were. $8 is a great deal for all you can eat lunch! There was a descent selection of sushi/sashimi, but the sashimi were not very fresh looking. I ate a roll with some sashimi and it was ok. My friend loved the sushi and loaded up on it. I was not in the mood for hibachi, but it was available. There was a good selection of the usual Chinese dishes. The fried items were not excessively greasy. I love shrimps and they were very fresh. My favorites besides the shrimps were stirred fried rice noodles and the fried chicken wings. The service was good; they removed the dirty plates quickly. The restroom was clean; which is always important. If this was back in Cali, I would give it 3 or 4 stars. But the fact that you now get decent Chinese food cheap in the heart of MO is amazing! read more

Maybe average as far as chinese buffet food goes, but as they get further away from their opening the food quality has started to go down. Pretty soon the y will be serving cat food and Sirachi (sp). This place is cheap! Military get a 10% discount. They have sushi (kinda), a Mongolian-style BBQ type hibachi grill, and a hot and cold food buffet. Food is all pretty decent, they have some strange stuff on the menu, like fake crab in cheese casserole. I think what we can eat here is reasonable for the price. It's about $12 per person, and if you like Chinese food, you'll like it here. They also have desserts and non-Asian food. I love Chinese buffets and sushi bars and this one is a great one. The food was amazing and there was a large spread with several things to try. I didn't try the sushi this trip but everyone who did was impressed. I especially liked the cocoa nut shrimp, and the general tso chicken. read more

They're pretty good. So if you're from the area, it's the same owners of chopsticks. Hibachi is there and the food is the same. The only thing is the name is a little misleading. You think Ocean buffet you think lots of seafood crab clams oysters fish more fish more fish. That's not what you get here. It's a Chinese buffet. The food isn't terrible i actually like it. My mom LOVES it. To my dad it's just another Chinese restaurant. Either way you get your fix of yummy greasy Chinese food. read more

Came here today for the first time with a group of friends & I am overall satisfied. The variety and quality of food was none the less satisfying and everything was cleanly and I didn't see any health cautions being a public buffet. I was very impressed when I went there today. I don't have too much experience with buffets but it was the nicest I've ever been to. The sushi was very tasty and they made it in front of you. The Hibachi looked cool but I couldn't fit any more food in my mouth after exploring the other entrees they had on the buffet. They had everything that I could've imagined and some kind of random stuff too, probably for picky kids who go to an Asian buffet and still want to eat pizza. I had cheesy mussels and that was a bit strange but still tasty. The service isn't friendly but they seemed to be pretty attentive. I give it the 2 stars for the atmosphere. It is very beautiful inside. The food however, not as beautiful. You can tell they have food sitting out there all day if nobody has touched it. They need some kind of times or something on the foods to ensure they are getting switched out. That is my only real complaint. The food has the potential to good, maybe first thing when they open, but not after the lunch rush... if they even get a rush anymore. The servers however, not the friendliest, but not rude. Food is average at best, when it is hot, have had ice cold food there. Choices are alright. The prices are outrageous for the quality of the food. I had high hopes when they told me that Chopstix and Oceans were combining, it's like they don't even try. Huge variety to choose from. There were a few dishes I didn't care for but there was plenty more to choose from. I assumed it was a typical Chinese Buffet but it had such a large variety of everything from pizza to sushi. The sushi chef was on site making it fresh, the Hibachi grill was my favorite though. I had a whole steak that was tender and flavorful with mixed vegetables I got to choose myself. The Hibachi was almost as good as any of the expensive Japanese Steakhouses I've been to. The restaurant was extremely clean and our service was fantastic. Our server was very sweet and took better care of us than most full service restaurants. Stopped for Sunday lunch and the place was very busy. Food is just ok. Not terrible, but bland. Buffet had quite a bit of choices, but it's hit and miss if the food is overcooked. Been here many times food was always decent for the price. Until the last time we will ever eat there. Friday night went with my family had the pleasure of sitting next to the busser beverage station. What I observed was every server using that station sticking their hands in to a dirty busser tub and peoples used plates to retrieve half consumed food and place it in to a small folgers coffee can with a smaller trash bag in it. Dont know what the smaller can was for. Often times the staff would reach into the larger trash can where most if the "bussed waste" was tossed from tables of customers to retrieve cups utensils other pieces of food. One instance a employee reached in grabbed a half eaten steak rinsed it in the busser tub then tossed it in the smaller foldgers coffee can. With all of this drink refills and bills were written Up at this station and not once did i see an employee wash there hands before doing so. Dont think its true go to the busser/drink refill stations at ocean buffet and see for your self. read more

I saw that this restaurant had 4 stars and gave it a try for lunch one day. While there was a large variety of foods on the buffet, it was not the best quality or extremely fresh. I went to get some fruit from the buffet bar and several tiny bugs scattered off the food. Very unappetizing. I and my traveling companions also ended up getting upset stomachs after eating there. If you are in the mood for sushi, Mongolian, or Asian, you have come to the right place! Ocean Buffet is much better than Chopsticks, hands down. You can taste the freshness and some of the food is even made to order. Even the sushi chef is fabulous; the man I spoke to made a special roll upon request (how cool!). Love this restaurant!...A bit of a drive for us,but worth every minute! Food is always fresh...sushi...awesome...pans are always full....it's just darn good food! Also the pictures I posted of the two people...Don't even know them...just asked them if they wanted to be on Yelp....2 thumbs up... I am also really aggravated at myself for not posting or taking picture of the sushi bar or the hibachi grill...oh by the way all you can eat too new your strip...now mind you they r thin..shoot just have them make you two and put them together...always tender and always cooked to perfection..
