Had been here once before but thought we would give it a second try as we weren't impressed with the food the first time. So on a Thursday night, which are pretty busy nights around here, we were told the wait was half an hour due to a back up in the kitchen. Only the restaurant was only about a third full. When we got seated I ordered a cocktail and also ordered our food. After About 20 minutes the cocktail finally came followed by the salad about 15 minutes later. When we ordered the waitress said she would hold off a few minutes on putting our entrees in to give me time when my salad came. By the time the salad came we had been there about an hour so told her to go ahead and put the food order. I kid you not she hadn't been gone from the table a minute before our entrees came. So I was torn, do I eat my salad or let my food get cold.... I could go on and on but you get the drift. $90 later we decided it's likely not worth a third try read more

I was visiting Melbourne Beach over Thanksgiving and was disappointed in the local food until I tried Ocean 302. I tried the bison dish after my server, Allie, described the specials to me. What a disappointment!!! Despite a reservation, it took about 30 minutes for the waitress to stop by our table and get our drink order. After ordering our food, it still took another hour for our meals to come out. The waitress was no where to be seen in this time and only apologized when we asked where our food was. What a disappointment. When the arrived, food was lukewarm and one dish was raw and inedible. We left hungry and frustrated, and we weren't the only ones. The food is excellent! However the cafeteria style seating is not for me. I made a reservation for four, and when I arrived at 6 pm. the restaurant was fairly empty, but hostess wanted us to sit at a table with a family having dinner. I was getting together with friends and wanted our own table. I was told this was not an option. I opted to sit at the bar and have dinner. At no time during the two plus hours that I was there were the tables filled. I was not the only one who had a problem with their reservation. Another couple said they could not be accommodated so they were going to Dijon's. That is exactly where I will be going my next time out for dinner. read more

It looked promising from the reviews and the pictures so when we got there we were expecting a great experience. We sat down and ordered calamari for the starter and it came right out 5 minutes later! It was good calamari actually a little greasy but still really good, we put our orders in a chicken sandwich with truffle fries ($5 extra) and the catch of the day which was a seabass with jasmin rice and a beurre blanc. It took about 20-30 minutes for the food to come out and when it did it was cold. The bread on the sandwich had hardened up and the chicken breast was cold, the fries extremely soggy, greasy and almost comical size slivers of Parmesan cheese. The catch of the day which was $37 came out looking like a child plated it. The rice just thrown on the plate the seabass which was cooked fantastically and tasted great on top with 3 drops of the buerre blanc. So overall not a great experience at all and our bill was $100 with 2 glasses of wine. The pizza looked and smelled good but we honestly don't know if we want to even bother trying it. read more

Food was so pretentious. It's "tweezer food" that isn't even good or interesting. I ordered the fried green tomato's and the batter was thick and the avocado hummus they put on top made them completely soggy. It was inedible. Friend got the Caesar salad which was a head of romain cut in half with "deconstructed" ingredients laid around the lettuce. Stupid and not tasty. The best thing about the experience was our waiter, James, he was very accommodating and without us asking he removed the dishes we didn't eat from our bill. Would not recommend. read more

Beautiful place, good ambiance. Ordered the Caprese as a starter, it was good; but it took a little too long for it to come out. One of my friends ordered the old fashioned before we ordered appetizers or dinner, but our server forgot three times, and it didn't come out until we'd already got our plates. I was really looking forward to my Charlie burger (I love lamb, and love a good lamb burger), but it was pretty insipid; I was really hungry, so I ate it all and didn't say anything. One of my friends didn't like her Charlie burger, so she ate only a couple of bites; the server offered to box it up, but my friend said 'no, thank you, I didn't like it,' and the server only said 'oh.' We had an eight-year-old that ordered chicken strips (how do you mess that up?!?), and it came out 10 minutes after the first dinner plate; she didn't like it either, so she didn't eat it. IMO the server should've offered to comp the old fashioned and one of the plates, but he was as 'insipid' as most of the food. Needless to say, we're not coming back :-/ read more

Absolutely amazing!!!! My husband and I went for his birthday and sat at the Chef's Table. The food was fantastic the service was excellent and the experience was 5 star all the way. We had a 5 course dinner and each course got better and more creative as the evening went on. Chef explained every aspect of the dishes down to where the proteins came from, this a truly a farm to table restaurant. We have lived in the area for 2 years and have tried to go to every "farm to table" restaurant in the area and 302 absolutely "Crushes" them all! In addition to being so awesome everyday they offer an amazing happy hour from 4-6pm. If you don't check this place out you are doing a disservice to yourself. read more

Reserved a space for 20 for a birthday celebration, and considering it was a lot of separate checks and somewhat sporadic ordering, the server and kitchen staff did a great job! My only gripe would be that the establishment would not come off of a $15 dollar corking fee applied to two bottles of wine we brought in. The wine was not comparable to anything they have in house and considering we brought in so many people on a Monday night, we thought it was an easy ask to get the $30 in corking fee removed from bill. I had made a reservation for 6:30 on Friday January 3rd. Arrived at the restaurant at 6:20 only to be told by both hostess at the stand that only 2 table options are available and both high tops. One beside the pizza oven and the other beside the pole/column of seats that is a continuous table that seats about 20. There was already a big party sitting at that table and they wanted us to sit there beside them. All the while there are 3 open booths behind the hostess stand sitting empty. We were not walk ins , we had a reservation. Needless to say we left there disappointed and headed down to Dijon's for a nice dinner. read more

We did the chef table for our anniversary and enjoyed every second, sip, and taste. Chef Matt was super friendly, down to earth and patient with our questions. We had shrimp consume, shrimp and grits, pompano, and rib eye. Every side, every sauce, every compliment, and every wine was perfectly paired. Bravo. Good reviews and an interesting menu brought me in - the special earned the rating. Any recipe with a skirt steak and chimichuri sauce elicits both concern and excitement. Skirt steak can be like chewing on a rubber band if not prepared properly - not the case here. Took a risk with the "Chimi Chimi Bang Bang" special and was delighted. Ocean 302's chimichuri was more subtle (less garlic) than I'm used to, but it paired beautifully and made for an excellent, well prepared meal. Enjoyed it thoroughly! John did an excellent job selecting wines with each course. Some of them complement the food while others contrasted but they were all spectacular. So, my wife & I have been watching and waiting excitedly for this place to open. It's in a great spot & we've gotten bored with Sand on the Beach around the corner. We were seated fairly quickly, but then they just seemed to forget about us. Sat for close to 10 minutes without our drink order being taken... and to be quite honest, the menu really, really sucked. They are trying to do some sort of clever hipster thing with the menu but ultimately you really can't tell what the hell most of it is describing. Cozy booth seating, bar seating, bar table height seating, at kitchen seating bar, tables and more, good lighting, nice modern atmosphere. Menu is quite imaginative and items we had were very good. Not inexpensive, but so much better than many other more expensive restaurants in Melbourne. We had 2 beers, 2 appetizers, 1 (personal size and superb) pizza and a salad - the bill was about $55 not including tip. If you get there before 8, be sure to visit the wonderful adjacent market - and bring a cooler for your inevitable purchases. They have a real (fully qualified) butcher, delicious meats, outstanding deli, and numerous things that are hard to find elsewhere - 15 different brands of capers (from tiny to large berries), many kinds of tahini, stuffed grapeleaves, spices, on and on. You could spend l/2 hour in each aisle finding things you have given up hope finding! The wine selection and prices are excellent with lots of small wineries without massive production. We live here in the winter and I buy everything I can there - even produce now because it is much improved this year. The fresh baked bread is excellent. The corn chips (thin, thin, thin) and great price and just made are not to be missed. The staff have all been there for a long time and are very helpful. Great selection of premade salads, 4-5 types of feta, lots of middle eastern foods throughout the market), Boar's Head - and the prices are not outrageous at all. Don't miss it! Ocean 302 is definitely as good as it gets - if you like trendy atmosphere/food and a good time - in the Melbourne area. If you are looking for old fashioned typical menu - not here. read more

Went there with a friend for happy hour. Bar staff was not at all friendly especially the senior person on duty. We tried a beer from the Playalinda brewery; it was terrible, mainly because it was flat and had no life at all. We couldn't drink it. No offer from the bar staff to remove from our bill. Other choices we tried, wine and beer, were good. The saving grace was the hamburger we shared. It was outstanding. Stay away from the bar, sit somewhere else, have a burger and enjoy it. read more

The service, ambiance, drinks, etc. were all great but I'm so upset with how awful the veggie burger was because there were plenty of other delicious sounding dishes on the menu. I had a double surprise this past Saturday to find an awesome foodie establishment but also the fact that Chef Jeff is back in town. The menu at 302 offers something for everyone from awesome gourmet burgers and pizza selections to amazing dinner entrees. All this coupled with a vast beer selection makes 302 my new place. They haven't even had their grand opening yet so they're still working out the kinks, but so far off to a great start. The atmosphere is fantastic and I love the mixture of seating options including long family-style high-top tables. I was excited to see quite a few craft beers to choose from, and even more excited about the digital temperature readout on the pizza oven (sure to impress any napoletana style pizza lover). Unfortunately, no simple Margherita pizza on the menu, but the Bruschetta was quite good with appropriate leopard char on a good quality crust. My wife had the scallop dish which was delicious (though for the price, I think it should include more than 4 scallops). We've been a couple times now and the service has been decent (with the exception of a dud bar tender once). Again, they seem to working that all out. read more

Had lunch today - The menu print is so small you can't read it. The place is nicely decorated and shows promise - great presentation and service but very little flavor and WAY too slow for lunch. Might try a little salt and pepper. A little less fluff and more flavor is my recommendation. We have been there (without reservations) and sat at both the bar and a table. The food was good and the experience friendly and warm. We decided, for my friends birthday, to try their 'Chef's Table' which required a 24 hour prior reservation. I called a week in advance, made the reservation and was told the chef would call us to plan our dinner. The Chef called a few days later and I selected a four course meal with wine pairings. I was becoming impressed, and I eat out a lot and am well know around the fine dining establishments in the area. The night of the reservation we were running late so we called, told them so and they stated no problem. We arrived when we said we would. The staff had no reservation, no idea what we were talking about and was not prepared, in my opinion, to offer any sort of a well planned and executed fine dinning experience with appropriate wines. If they were, why the minimum of 24 hour notice? Needless to say we left and drove two minutes to Dijon's Steak and lobster house at the other end of Ocean Avenue. We had an excellent meal properly prepared with excellent table service. I may eat again at Ocean 302 but never at their 'Chef's Table'. I will never again make a reservation there and if they can't accommodate me as a walk in i will quickly walk out. Barry Gordon read more

My second favorite resturant in Brevard, second only to Crush Eleven. I love this place because it can be a really nice, well executed meal, or it can be pizza and beer. And they have great gluten free options for things I never get to eat, like flatbread and burgers. Worth a stop, no matter what you're into. read more

Horrible service, poor meal prep. Waiter didn't know menu. My husbands meal came without his potatoes and waiter was no where to be found. My salad I asked for dressing on the side and of course it didn't come that way, again waiter was not to be found. My new came with French fries which were uncooked and limp. Arrived at Ocean 302 for our 6:30 reservations a few minutes after 6. Table wasn't ready which was no big deal as we decided to go to the bar and grab a cocktail first. The bar staff was ridiculously slow. Bartender was more interested in talking to employees than being attentive to the needs of the customers. Took ten minutes to order two drinks and another ten to get our drinks and another ten to get the bill settled. There was a bar-back or bar manager standing behind the bar. Not sure what his job was as he didn't smile, or make eye contact with any of the patrons, nor did he assist the bartenders. Finally sat at our table at 6:45. Once seated the experience went much better. Our waitress, I believe her name was Michelle, was a pleasure and the service and food quality were perfect. We shared a 10-oz filet with lobster along with a couple appetizers. Glad we ordered the steak medium rare as it came out medium. Overall a good experience however their bar service needs work. read more
