Occidental was a fun bar in LoHi. We only got some apps which were tasty but the whole food menu looked good. Normal variety of drink/beer options. Our waiter was attentive and nice!

Nice little place we stubbled onto after a concert at the junkyard. Cocktails were delicious and food hit the spot. Service was on point. Highly recommend the chicken tenders as they are quite good! Turkey club sandwich is worth the order to I believe.

We ate and had drinks here. The food was way more than you would think for bar food so totally worth it. Dom and jimmy were our servers and bartenders. By far the best service I ever had ever. It was a very nj vibe which I loved. Always had my water refilled without even asking. I was there when it wasn't so busy but it is a hidden gold mine. I will be going here every time I am in Denver mainly because of jimmy our bartender. Even gave us a special ice cube that was carved specially for us. Absolutely incredible.

Finally got the chance to try this place on Thursday. I live so close by but I've been lowkey intimidated by the noisy and rough exterior. The servers could not be nicer and the chicken tenders are fire. LoHi needs a "grungier" bar like this. We tried the Nashville hot chicken and the hot honey BBQ. Both great accompanied by a large portion of tots. The chicken alone is enough to fill you up if you aren't super hungry so take that into account before you order. Both orders were breaded and cooked to perfection (at least for a bar). This isn't your run in the mill bar chicken tenders, it's worth making the stop for a casual dinner.

Cool bar for a casual night out or to catch a game. Being from NJ it's awesome to find a home turf for NY/NJ sports teams. Occidental is the more casual "sibling" of Williams and Graham next door (which reminds me, I still have to review them because they are AWESOME), but I digress.... Love the edgy, no fuss ambiance of Occidental and they serve up some tasty food and drinks. The chicken tenders are fire and the tots are perfectly crunchy and delicious.

We stumbled across this bar when trying to get into a nearby distillery. Couldn't have found a better place for my husband who is a North Jersey kid and huge Giants fan. The atmosphere was packed but a blast. Bartenders kept the drinks flowing even though they were slammed! We had a great time and plan to come watch a Giants game next football season. We are from the Springs and wish we could come more!

What do you really know about a great bar?!?

I think Ben K. was having a bad day! Don't let the Tomfoolery persuade you otherwise! This place was a blast, if you didn't have fun maybe you're just not doing it right! Come check it out for yourself!!!!! Chopped cheese was everything I needed! Plus those delicious deviled eggs!! Rock on Occidental!!

What a fun and slightly stinky place. Decent service, solid cocktails, great chicken tenders, music is questionable.

The prices were incredibly reasonable for craft, microbrew and a most excellent selection as you could want. I would go back just for him.

When I stopped by, the main room was set up with comfy couches, lounge chairs, and bean-bag-style seating that practically invites you to settle in. I got so relaxed I ended up hanging out for several hours without even realizing it. It's the kind of place where time disappears in the best way. We didn't take advantage of the patio vibes or rooftop deck with a fire pit, but this is still on our list! While waiting for a table, we cozied up to the bar and ordered drinks. One of the bartenders noticed I ordered the hibiscus margarita and asked me, offhandedly, if I was a fan of spice. Yes, please. With that, he cancelled my order and made me something "not on the menu" but what I called the "Patrick special." So good. Thanks, sir! We ordered burgers and shared their buffalo cauliflower starter. This, my friend, was absolutely amazing. Loved the buffalo spice paired with the bleu cheese. Easy way to enjoy some veggies. And along the same theme, I ordered the Buff and Bleu burger. This was so good, so flavorful and so messy. Don't judge me, but I resorted to using my fork, lol! It was so well balanced. Will have again. Parking here means street parking, but there were plenty of open spots on a Saturday night. The walk was nice. Great location, relaxed vibes, especially on a Sunday evening. The beer was solid, but the food stole the show (mostly across the board). Most of our group was happy with their dishes. I had the steak sandwich with a side salad, and the sandwich was top tier. I'm a sucker for a good sandwich, and this one absolutely hit the spot. It was also pretty large, which made it more of a fork-and-knife situation than a handheld one, but no complaints there. A few people in our party upgraded their sides to the sweet potato fries, which were next level. Perfect balance of crispiness with a hint of sweetness that made them stand out. One miss in the group was the mac and cheese; my sister ordered it and wasn't a fan, felt it was too liquidy/runny and underwhelming compared to everything else we tried. Only minor knock overall was that the kitchen was pretty slow, especially considering it wasn't very busy late on a Sunday evening. Not a dealbreaker, but something worth noting if you're in a hurry. Overall, great first Denver meal; good beer, mostly good food, and a relaxed spot that made for a solid welcome to the city.
