EXTREMELY disappointed in the fit of the dress in the chest area (aka boobs). Purchased a dress at Occasions by Miosa in Folsom for a 2026 summer wedding. Staff took my measurements: chest, waist, hips. Then told me I was a size 2. I questioned a size 2 because the dress I tried on was a 6 and too snug. A separate gal then said I'm a size 10, maybe an 8, but the dresses run small. So she recommended I order the 10 to make sure it was large enough to fit my 29" waist measurement. Well, I have the dress and it does fit my waist, but I need a WHOOOOOOLE lot more boob to fill the ginormous, pre-cast, chest cups sewn into the dress. My chest is a 34 B, which they measured and wrote down in my info. I met with their seamstress and she can't alter the dress because of the style of the bodice and how it overlays the ginormous cups. But she did tell me I can "get a push-up bra AND some bra fillers/push-up enhancers and it will help fill the gap." Help??? If I wanted big boobs I'd have the surgery. But I'm happy with my little gals. For the record, I tried her recommendations and with both a push up bra and the bra fillers in place, the cups are still half empty. Or are they half-full...? Either way, the poor fit in this area is upsetting. Paying hundreds of dollars for a dress and waiting 6 weeks for it to be assembled and delivered, I (naively) expected ALL of my measurements to be taken into account when the dress was made.... So it would fit, not require a push up bra and inserts to attempt to fill the cup space. Staff was helpful in the color options available, and making darn sure I signed all the paperwork saying there are no take backs... But they failed to inform the buyer the dress will fit the largest measurement on your body and the rest of the fit is a crap shoot, and their alterations department may, or may not, be able to fix a problem... One final note... when I picked up the dress, it was very wrinkled (it's chiffon). and I asked if they steam it so it's ready to wear... Yes, they will for $15 dollars. Lordy lord! Please, let me walk out of your shop with my $400 dress steamed and ready to wear. Tried to shop local. Didn't work out so well for me. MH read more

We went into this place looking for dresses for our family wedding. The staff was not helpful at all. Then we find a dress on our own and they MAKE you sign a no refund policy. Well when we got the dress 2 months later it was at least 2 sizes too big. This is after we had one of their employees do all of the measurements. The manager then said that this is normal as alterations are usually required. These alterations were going to cost an extra $175 on top of the $250 dress. Almost seems like they purposely do not buy the correct size so you are required to pay extra for alterations. Interesting... I will not recommend this awful place to anyone. read more

Absolutely will NOT be coming back. We have a wedding coming up and went into this establishment hearing about all the good things they do. Instead our experience was awful. The girls working were no help, we had an appointment and felt as if we were taking their time. The selection is big for dresses but definitely has more prom dresses than anything else. I went with my sister to get her bridesmaid dress and was told it would be ready in a couple of months. The time has come to put it up and the doors are locked. They are "open" from 10am-6pm DAILY except when I have been there, the door was locked before 6pm with no note on the door. Rushing through traffic and rush hour to make it on time to not get charged an extra $250 for holding the dress. I will never be coming back and will make sure none of my brides and bridesmaids will be using this company. read more

First impression was it was in a great location, and very clean, walked in and was able to browse. I do think they could use more seating inside especially for the family that comes to look at the dresses with you. We came in for bridesmaids and mother of the bride. It would be nice to have more than one staff member, she was doing amazing answering phones and helping the many customers that were inside. We did however have to wait a while to get our measurements. The prices are good for the dresses, around $250 for a dress and we thought it's worth it since it's a dress she can wear for many occasions outside of just the wedding. They also don't have the biggest selection of dresses but a modest amount. 4 stars just because of how long the wait was for everything. read more

Maddy and Alison have both helped her find the perfect dresses while being patient, supportive and really listening to what she is looking for. I have had two wonderful experiences shopping for a dress at Occasions! I first went in to shop for a dress for a wedding that required formal attire, and chose a stunning pink Sherri Hill dress. Jaylin helped me find a beautiful dress and was able to tell me if the color and size I wanted would arrive in time, since the sample I tried on wasn't a perfect fit. The second time I went in, I was looking for an evening gown for a formal company holiday party. I was able to work with Jaylin yet again, and I received help from their stylist Kyiah as well. They were both so kind and helped me track down exactly what I was looking for, I couldn't be happier! I did alterations on both of these dresses with their alterations department, and they did a great job. Overall, I have had a fabulous experience at Occasions! Purchased my gorgeous gown from here! After many failed shopping trips online and other retail stores, I finally found a beautiful dress for a family wedding event here! My friend and I browsed around and pulled a few dresses that caught our eye and this Sherri Hill dress was the winner! The sales girl up front was nice and helpful as well. As I go to purchase the dress of the rack, I'm taken aback at the policies in place. I wanted to use my credit card to make a fairly large purchase ($600 dress) but was told if I use credit, there is a 3-5% upcharge since they get charged from their machine.... I would've had to pay extra to use my credit card and get some points just because the store has bad merchant services... also, I understand all sales are final and I was going to get my dress altered and there was a policy if I don't pick up the dress, by the fifth day, there's a $150 holding fee... I came the next day to pick up my dress from alterations-- long story short: the chest area had small cups inside so the alterations lady said she would remove the small cups and add the big cups inside the dress...well, when I picked it up, she had removed the small cups from inside the dress and added bigger cups on the outside. (that's not what I was told would be done) When I picked it up and saw what it turned out, they had mentioned that there is a inseam right on top, and that the bigger cups wouldn't fit inside. In that case, I should've been notified before sewing bigger cups on the outside, so I could deny the Alterations in the first place. essentially, I had to come back another time and wait about an hour so that they can fix this problem and my drive to this location takes about an hour, so it was inconvenient to say the least . read more

Daughter went in- -Her assigned consultant DID NOT SHOW. - finally assigned another consultant 30 minutes later and placed in the front of the store, not offered ANYTHING to drink- although ALL OTHER parties were! - only was shown samples in plus size! YES my daughter is plus size, but should have been able to try on ANOTHER DRESS in stock, that can be ordered in plus- WE HAVE ALL SEEN SYTTD!! This was supposed to be a special moment of selection and my biggest decision for my wedding day. I'm so disappointed in my experience so I'll share the experience in a nutshell and then narrate the details if you're wanting to know more. So the quick version: During the scheduled appointment there was no ability to see the different selections, only what your assigned stylist selects FOR YOU. In 2 hours I was only given 8 or 9 dresses to try on. I quickly selected one and paid a 50% deposit for a dress. I realized the very next morning I made a rushed decision and needed to change my mind. I contacted the store and was told my money was non refundable and they would NOT transfer my money to a different dress. I paid $800 for a dress I'll never wear. They are keeping my money. To select another dress I'll have to schedule again and start all over. They won't transfer a dime of the $800 I paid to another selection. More It was a weekend and I was told the In a 2 hour fitting I sat in a room where a stylist gathered dresses for me to try on, based on my best description. Not one of the dresses was exactly what I was looking for. This wasn't surprising when I wasn't allowed to look through the selections...I sat in a room sipping the champagne they provided. In total I was only able to try on about 8 or 9 dresses. There were long stints of time while I sat waiting for the stylist to return with more selections (that she chose for me). The 2 hours came to a close and I was pressured to make a selection. I was told the dresses may not be there if I waited and chose later. I quickly made a decision, after being told 5 months isn't much time to get the dress ready. So I signed all the things they asked me to sign, including all sales final. I left the store at 6:30 pm on a Saturday. I paid 50% of the total cost of the dress. 50% !! The next morning I scrolled through photos and realized I didn't make a good choice. My wedding is going to be pretty conservative and this dress showed too much skin. I immediately regretted my high pressured decision and promptly contacted the stylist via text (she had text me after I left her store because she forgot to ask for my email). I asked to please select one of the other dresses that was more conservative and move my down payment. I had left the store at 6:30 pm on a Saturday and had contacted them promptly the next morning (a Sunday) before noon. Some one from the store told me the stylist was busy and that unfortunately they had already ordered my dress. The money was non refundable and they told me I should have known that. I asked to please allow me to change my quick decision. It was a Sunday and I couldn't imagine the order couldn't be changed, or that it had actually already been ordered. It was only a few short business hours into a SUNDAY. How could the order have been placed just a few hours prior with no ability to change it?! To no avail. So I've put hundreds of dollars down with a store who is keeping my money and the dress. I highly suggest anyone think twice before scheduling with this store. UPDATE: The store reached out this week to tell me my second half of the payment is due. So they are now charging me the rest of the cost of a dress THEY ARE KEEPING in their store. My sisters and I went here to look for bridesmaids dresses. We were told we didn't need an appointment by miosa bride which is allowed. We were waiting to speak to the front desk girl because we didn't know how it worked. While waiting, we were just browsing while chatting and laughing with each other. The girl finally gets back to the front desk but doesn't acknowledge us. So we go right up to the desk and she looks up at us with an unwelcoming face, asking us "what we want" with a big attitude. Obviously, we said we were here to look for bridesmaids dresses and she asked if we had an appointment, which we didn't, so she gave a break down of the sections. But it was hard to look when she had this nasty rude attitude towards us. I'm not sure if she was treating us like kids who didn't belong in here or was annoyed by our laughter in the store. But the way she treated us shattered the joy of us wanting to look. This occurred January 12th around 3:30pm and the girl who was unwelcoming was wearing a white beanie, puffy crème jacket, and had dark hair with light streaks in her hair. We did browse for a few minutes and then another girl comes up to us with a way more helpful and more welcoming energy. She's the only reason for the 2 stars, or I would've given less. Yet, after talking to her, my sisters and I were already over it and decided to leave and look somewhere else. This review is more based on the customer service of the front desk girl who treated us poorly. read more

The sales person was pleasant, but did not ask me what specific styles I was interested in, but pointed me to the section of the store with the mother of the bride dresses and told me they were organized by color. She did offer to help a couple of times, and did get me things when I called her. Since I was alone, I could have used a bit more help with finding and fitting gowns, and the sales people at the sister bridal store had been much more involved when I went there with my daughter. Also, the mother of the bride dresses and bridesmaid dresses are all bunched up in a relatively small area, compared to the prom dresses and Quice dresses which are all carefully packed in plastic covers. Just seemed odd that I was there to look for a dress that might cost lots of $$ and the sales person was less involved than people I have worked with at other stores. I may go back, as there are few choices in the area, but I am discouraged. read more
