My children wanted a chicken nugget kids meal and a cheeseburger kids meal with chocolate milks. The restaurant was popping and they were running out of food. There were no nuggets, no chocolate milk, and no cheese. We ended up with two hamburger kids meals with regular milk. My 4yo took the burger patty off and just ate a ketchup sandwich ‍ the backseat was quiet, so it was probably was good. If you have pick eaters and are short on time, maybe skip this restaurant as your meal stop on a busy travel weekend.

Ever since we returned from a trip to Peru and Ecuador to explore Machu Picchu and The Galapagos, we take every opportunity to sample Peruvian cuisine. When I saw Mi Tierra in one of those Facebook ads (I guess they work), we made plans to try it out. Located off highway 484 by the busy intersection with I-75, traffic always seems to be crazy here with never ending construction. When we entered, we were seated in a booth and didn't realize they offered lunch specials (until 3 PM M-F) until we opened the menus. My wife and I ordered off the lunch special menu. She had the Arroz Chaufa ($11.99) and I ordered the Lomo Saltado ($13.99). We were also served chips and salsa while waiting for our meals. We both just had water. The tortillas chips were served warm. They were airy and crispy. The salsa was good but wished there was more of it...a bit chintzy on the salsa. My wife's arroz chaufa was quite good with savory soy sauce flavor and slight smokiness to it. My Lomo saltado was decent. The cut of meat was not the best and it lacked that distinctive smoky flavor we've gotten used to from meals we ate while in Peru. I've had better...but for $13.99, it's pretty good. Good flavors and good value. Service was OK with our lone server doing multiple tasks from bartending, taking orders, and cleaning tables...and watching the World Cup. Lunch for 2 came out to just over $33 with tip.

Now understand, there's no longer a DQ where we live (down close to The Villages), so we had to drive about 30-40 minutes one-way to the restaurant. But the drink made the ride worth it. A couple of days later, we took our parents back for treats as well. I ordered the same drink. This time, it was extremely thin with no chunks of fruit as I'm accustomed to seeing. I made the decision to not say anything and just drink it. I thought it may have been a simple mistake. However, today, my wife and I stopped by for another. We got in the car and started driving away. Both of us took long sips and made comments that something wasn't right. I turned around and went back to inform the young lady about our problem. Now I'm almost POSITIVE I've gotten chunks of both strawberry and banana in my drinks before. But I was told that the strawberry is just a purée that would not have any strawberries and that I was mistaken. I asked about the banana chunks. They said that there was banana in my drink. It must've been liquid banana. I never got one chunk. And this was both the young lady that made the drink as well as the manager on duty. I drove all the way out there, paid $8 for the two drinks, and did they correct the problem? NO! They didn't even apologize! They will not be getting my business again. They don't know what they're doing (except that one girl that made my drink the first time). The first girl should be the acting manager and training the one who only wore the manager shirt.
