Oh my goodness, where do I start? I really liked this place! Okay, here are the challenges first: Parking is limited, they don't open till 4 pm (so no stopping in for lunch), and a mandatory surcharge of 5% is added to every ticket for the kitchen staff - but that's it. The positives are: seating was plentiful, the menu was comprehensive, the food was remarkably delicious, and the service was top-notch. Neither my friend nor I had been here before so we were OC Taco virgins. We ordered chips and guacamole first, then added on some "real" food. I had a camarrones de diablo taco (spicy shrimp) and Mexican rice, then topped it off with some freshly made churros that came with a super yummy caramel dipping sauce. She had a tinga de pollo taco (chicken) and refried beans, then finished it all off with a tres leches cake, which was huge! I'm adding OC Tacos to my rotation of good food near where I live - but I sure do wish they were open for lunch!

We had so much fun here! Margaritas were delicious, food was great, the service was even better. We'll definitely go again to try other items. Highly recommend the churro sticks! The guac and queso dip were my favorite I think. Restaurant is super spacious, good for group settings, or date nights.

Food- the food is decent. We had chips and salsa and chips with guacamole- which I want to say usually it's standard practice to just give those for free however this specific place charges for each. The guacamole is alright- I get a sense that it's not homemade. Something about it doesn't feel fresh. The salsa is ok- it also just doesn't scream homemade. Feels more store bought. The chips are also super crunchy. They don't feel like they're authentic chips. I had a bowl with carne Asada- it's ok. Drinks are glass Coca Cola. So no refills. Service- the server checked on us quite a bit. Almost too much. I couldn't get a bite in before being asked how is it... allow time to eat and process. Ambiance- it's got a nice location and nice decor. I don't feel that I'd come back to this restaurant. I want authentic Mexican food and I don't feel this as authentic.

I've been wanting to review how solid OC Taco is for a while but kept forgetting in my foodcoma. Excellent flavors, quality taco options, tasty salsas, killer guacamole. Great value and everyone there is attentive and kind. Good Tequila selection too!

Ceviche Tostada and Yucca Root Fritters to go

Super friendly and helpful staff! Cute and spacious spot in Oregon City, yet easy and busy access from I-205. Menu posted in the front right at the entrance door to help decision-making easier. However, it was outdated during my quick stop-by for takeout. The Ceviche Tostada listed with fish which was the only reason I came in since fish ceviche is my thing. The friendly staff informed me that they were no longer serving fish ceviche, only shrimp. I went ahead with the shrimp ceviche tostada since I was already there and hungry. While waiting for my takeout, I ordered the Virgin Nada Colada. I liked the taste of it, yet a bit more ice than needed so it was more slushy of a drink and a bit to a sweeter side. I ate the tostada shrimp ceviche as soon as I got home. I was disappointed with the fact that the shrimp tasted pre-cooked and then topped with whatever tops they put on it and some lime/citrus-based. Pre-cooked ceviche, especially seafood is not my preference. The Yucca Root Fritters sounds so good so I had to order it. They were so disappointed as well. They came in almost round ball shape. Mine was neither cooked nor heated through. It was like I ate half-cooked egg dough. Despite my first visit disappointment, I would give OC Taco another chance simply because I think OC needs and could benefit from more variation of eateries. I wish they would add tamales to their menu in the near future.

This is the ceviche tostada without the weight of the avocado or the bowl

Great tacos but not impressed with the ceviche serving size. I expected more for the price. I'll definitely be going back but will stick to the tacos.

We were visiting family in the area and had two people in our group local to the area who had been there several times in the past. We first went and checked in and were told there was a 10-15 minute wait. The hostess was very kind, took our number and sent us to the upstairs bar to wait for a table. We were greeted by a friendly bartender who took our drink orders (cocktails and wine) and we enjoyed our beverages while chatting by the bar. The restaurant is beautifully decorated with large velvet green booths, all new, updated and well done. The drinks were all great. The downstairs hostess came upstairs to let us know our table was ready, and we paid and went downstairs. So far, we were all really happy with our experience. The prices of the drinks were all around $15-20+ but we were all okay with it given the good service (thus far), high end atmosphere, etc. There were people in there but it was a pretty mellow Saturday evening. We were given a nice large area to sit and thanked the hostess. The waitress came and was clearly a little overwhelmed but took our drink orders. I mentioned a drink my husband had upstairs and asked if I could have it, but was told they had a different menu down here and I needed to order from that menu. I looked it over while the others ordered their drinks, and when she came back to me, I asked if I could go upstairs to order the drink I wanted, and bring it down. She said sure. I put in an order for a couple food items with her, and she left. My brother in law kindly offered to go upstairs and order the drink and was gone for quite a long time. We learned that when he was upstairs, he went to the bar and mentioned I wanted a drink from his bar. The bartender's mood shifted and he said he had 10 drinks ahead of my BIL, and asked him to go downstairs to order. My BIL informed him he was told the downstairs bar didn't have the ingredients, and was sent up here. The bartender was annoyed and asked my BIL to go downstairs for 10 minutes and come back again to order. My BIL replied that he was happy to wait at the bar instead and took a seat. After a long while, the bartender curtly said that my BIL would have to pay for the drink up here, which my BIL of course agreed to. My BIL said it was very uncomfortable and the bartender was being rude (a couple sitting at the bar also mentioned this). We are guessing he was overwhelmed and didn't handle it well. He brought the drink downstairs, no problem. We were all sitting for a while and noticed that my BIL never received the beer he ordered from the waitress downstairs. And after about 45 minutes I asked about the food I had ordered (she hadn't checked in with us at all during that time, and I should mention it was not busy at all - several tables open). The waitress said she forgot to put it in. That was it. No offer to quickly put it in, no offer to comp a drink, no real apology. We asked for the bill and split it between two cards. When we got the receipts and cards back, my husband found they had given both him and his brother (the other payer) copies of my husband's receipt-so he assumed he was double charged. He went to the front to bring this to their attention and explained how he was upset by the poor service throughout the evening. He received a quick response that they had printed the receipt twice (didn't charge twice) and were short staffed that evening. We are all understanding people and my sister in law ran restaurants for years, we all had food service jobs and are sympathetic but really just disappointed in this place. I'm writing this review because the employees there just didn't seem to care about the issues we raised. They had an acoustic artist playing that evening who was phenomenal. If you go there on a different day with different staff, I'm sure you'd have a great time. But for the price and ambiance, we really expected better service.

They rearranged upstairs adding another pool table and some lounge couches. They have pushed all the tables and chairs against one shorter wall, in a line making it tight quarters and forcing you to sit next to strangers. There is no elbow room. It wasn't busy up there so I tried not to be bothered with this. Our waitress greeted us immediately. Brought our waters, menus and checked on us 3-4 times. She was great. Our food was NOT great let alone, ok! I ordered the shrimp scampi/risotto dish. It came with a side of garlic bread. My husband ordered the lemon capered chicken and my daughter the smash burger. My food and my husband's food tasted like I was eating CREAM OF SALT with garlic and the bread was even more salty. He was starving and just ate it, I only got through about half. It was so salty. My daughter said her burger was dry and tasted weird. She didn't finish it. Her fries were good. We didn't complain. We were hungry and uncomfortable being squished up like that. I just wanted to be done with the whole experience. I won't say that I'll never be back. I understand that chefs and restaurants staff are human and mistake like over salting a dish can happen. Prior to this past weekend, hadn't had a problem with food, staff or seating. However, I do hope someone in management/ownership sees my review so improvements/changes can be made. Not only with the dishes that are being served to paying customers but the seating arrangements upstairs. Those tables and chairs are far too squished together.

Verdict Bar & Grill in Oregon City is a really cool whiskey bar with a speakeasy-style atmosphere,…read moregreat drinks, and seriously impressive bartenders. I stopped in recently to pick up a to-go order and ended up sitting at the bar for a drink while I waited. I was greeted right away when I sat down and given a food menu. The place was completely slammed, but the two bartenders were absolutely dialed in. They were mixing signature cocktails, pouring wine, draft beer, and spirits nonstop while still checking in with guests. Watching them work was impressive -- the focus and efficiency looked more like professional mixologists than typical bartenders. The space itself has a great vibe. You enter from the 8th Street door and it feels like stepping into a hidden basement speakeasy. The interior is dimly lit with a huge illuminated whiskey wall. The bar is centered in the room with booths along the outside, making it a really cool date-night spot. While waiting for my food I ordered a Fort George City of Dreams Hazy IPA, which was cold and fantastic. As soon as I saw the cocktail menu though, I immediately regretted not ordering one of their house drinks -- the 8th Street Margarita looked especially good. I also noticed that all the whiskey drinks coming out had these beautiful crystal-clear 3" ice cubes, which is a great touch and shows they take their cocktails seriously. I originally came in because I've been ordering the Buffalo Mac & Cheese from their food cart about once a month for the last few years. Their Oregon City cart recently closed, so this was my first time getting it from the bar. My to-go order took about 30 minutes, which was totally understandable given how busy the place was. The staff stayed friendly and attentive the whole time. The Buffalo Mac & Cheese was still very tasty. The macaroni was great with a creamy cheese sauce and good buffalo flavor throughout. The chicken tasted like it may have been frozen at some point and was a little chewy compared to the crunchier chicken I remember from the food cart version, but overall the dish was still really good and something I'll definitely order again. Great atmosphere, skilled bartenders, solid food, and a really unique whiskey-bar vibe in Oregon City. Next time I come back I'm definitely sitting down and ordering one of those cocktails. Tip: Sit at the bar if you can -- watching the bartenders craft the drinks is half the experience.
