Will sell you a Chevy, no problems at all. But when the engine or transmission/power train starts failing.. they will just reset the computer and light, say they can't find the problem, hope you keep driving until you hit the mileage where the warranty runs out. Had a Silverado, late 2015s, had transmission issues, there were class action lawsuits for this and Chevrolet was fixing them. Service manager looked at me straight face and said that was against corporation not the dealer, would not replace the transmission even though he knew it was failing and part of a class action. Could've fixed the problem but i guess he decided that he couldn't bother chevrolet america and add another service request on a recall where corporation paid. Maybe he was told not to by the owner to maintain a reputation.. Either way, he kept jerking us around until the warranty mileage was up then demanded 8k for a new transmission. We got rid of the truck after they reset the computer and check engine light AGAIN (yeah just unplug the battery) and charged us a diagnotic fee. All in all, it's a shitty dealership ran by shitty people with no morals other than to make money. If you're local then you already know. read more

On August 5th 2024, I took my 2010 Mazda 3 in for it's yearly oil change tire rotation and state inspection. Went to pay and get my car but it failed the state inspection due to the horn not working and the brake light was on. So I said OK no problem fix it. But I was told we can't "it's a Mazda thing" from the lady I was talking to. I kind of looked dumbfounded at her not believing what I just heard. Nothing like OK we can't today but let's schedule you for another appointment which would have been fine or it's gonna be awhile before we can get you in for repair. Not something like it's against the law but we can't "it's a Mazda thing". So tell me this a couple years ago a family member replaced the horn and it worked just fine it's and easy replacement no offer to fix just that but "It's a Mazda thing". So where is the problem in replacing my horn by your dealership? Must be "a Mazda thing right"? So I'll replace the horn my self. Which by the way works when I beep it must be "a Mazda thing". The brake light is just on there is nothing wrong with the brakes themselves I drive the car every day. In fact your dealership fixed all of my brakes a couple years ago. Must be "a Mazda thing" right? No it seems like "a lazy thing" a "customer service thing" to me. So I'll see about fixing the light myself or better yet taking my car down the road to the service garage I used to use and get them to fix it. I'll be sure to spread the "it's a Mazda thing" around. The attitude of this dealership as to service is terrible. I bought a new vehicle from them in 2015. All service work has been done by them except buying new tires. When my radio went out I was told I needed a new antenna. The cost was quoted as $600. When I researched it I found that there was a recall on the part due to poor gasket design. When I asked about a recall replacement, I was told that the recall had expired. I ended up replacing it my self for $30 and about an hour labor. Yesterday I took the vehicle in for an oil change. The cost was $92. I went to pay for it and handed the girl a coupon that was mailed to me by the dealership. She told me she could not accept it because I did not give it to her before service. Really? What business asks you for coupons before work to be done or before buying anything? When I called back to ask what a service code was, she was very rude. OBX Chevy, I'm done. read more

I have owned vehicles through OBX Chevrolet for 3 years now and everytime I have had to take it in for service or recalls, they tell me how long it will be and it's always triple that time or they keep it into the next day or two or more! I am so disgusted with this. They never have loaners and this is the only vehicle I own. When I get upset over this, I'm made out to be the unreasonable one. They always have an excuse. I think you should have a separate service department for your customers who have purchased cars from you and have warranties that come in for regular maintenance service. I'm always waiting on someone else's emergency who doesn't live here and is bumped ahead of me when I've had an appt for 2 weeks or a month! If it's not that, then it's because they didn't know how to install something before hand and it took longer. Then don't tell me it will only take a half a day and then have it all day. Or the the time I waited on an oil change and check on alignment, that I made an appt for, that was only supposed to take about an hr, took 4 hrs! It's been every time I have been in there that this has happened. Just bought a brand new truck from them and I'm already regretting it! Never been treated this bad, anywhere else I have lived! You need to figure out a way to put your customers first and treat them with respect beyond the sales floor! Here on vacation with a 2022 Silverado parked it a came out 2 days later nothing started and no gauges. Place a battery charger on the truck over night and still nothing which means a dead cell in the battery. Called the service department had to leave a message finally after a couple of hours called back repaedly finally got a person that said they are backed up for 2 weeks so I called the parts department to see if they had a battery which they did it cost me 300 bucks and no warranty could be done. As a wheelchair user and my truck is customized for me even telling them this no one cared I even had to install the battery myself good thing my wife is willing to help. lousy customer service could not even take 10 minutes to change a battery. read more

This is the worst dealer I have ever dealt with. My wife got into an accident and their body shop was recommend by a friend. They fixed the vehicle told my wife to pick it up even though the manager Jeff sent the ins company photos expressing he wasn't happy with the parts and job. i Negotiated with the insurance company and they were willing to supply the parts they requested but they wouldn't not repair it correctly unless I paid $2100 for the labor. They wouldn't stand behind the bad work even while admitting it was bad work. I have 4 Chevy vehicles and I will never give this dealer one dime of my money ever again. read more

Rude, unhelpful bunch of standing around with their hands on their pockets, going out of their way to not help ya kind of guys. I'm 5-10 early for an appointment on a factory recall issue, I'm parked just outside service entrance, after finally making eye contact and getting a verbal response from one of the three dudes hanging around at desks, he finally tells me, I need you to go get it and pull it in here. Really? Anything else I can fetch for ya? While um pulling in, out of the blind entrance tunnel , with nary an orange cone or safety flag in sight, comes the poor lady that was in front of me. Good thing I'm a cautious driver. No marked pedestrian walk way, she's strolling out the slam in the middle of the driveway service entrance. Eff-ing dangerous. Difficult to see entering a dark garage bay. Piss poor planning snd straight up crap customer experience so far. Now the head useless guy , upon confirming my name and address, tells me if they crack my dashboard during the repair it's not covered. DISGUSTED read more

A mostly courteous front line of service reps gave way to a dismissive (and likely) set of inept shop managers & techs. Take your 2018 car in for warranty work? Good luck - they seem to find multiple ways to avoid real troubleshooting. Why did I buy a GM car? So I could have access to dealership service in an otherwise remote area to avoid driving 90+ minutes to another manufacturers showroom. Plus, U.S.A. made? It's unfortunate that one bad dealership's experience has turned me away from an entire brand of vehicle due to an otherwise minor issue that they refuse to address. My vehicle was repaired at the body shop per a reference from my insurance company. After the body repair I had to take it back to my dealer to get the lights repaired due to the wiring being put back improperly. I would no recommend them for any repairs. They offered no assistance. read more

Super friendly service, my car was repaired ahead of schedule and they kept me updated the whole time which eased the anxiety of being out of state. Three times into service to fix one problem - Cost $4,500 Had my Husband's 2015 Acadia in for the same problem not once; not twice; but three times. With this time we'll be up to $4500 - $4700 in repairs ALL for the same problem that it was brought in for. They take NO responsibility for not diagnosing it correctly the first or the second time and the dealership would not share in the cost of the third repair in any way. When you get put on hold when you call them, their message is that "they diagnose the problem the first time". What irony! I am so disappointed in how little they're willing to stand up for their own shortcomings and do the right thing. When we asked for a loaner -- sorry we just don't have any - you'll have to enjoy being carless. After I posted this review . . . Sometimes people and businesses do the right thing. I wouldn't even take a bicycle to them to get it fixed. My wife and I took our Jeep Cherokee to them after an accident and not only did they have it for a month, three lug nuts went missing, completely screwing up a wheel and my wife almost getting in an accident. The only reason that we took our car to this shop is because it was the only shop in our area that was in our insurance network. Pathetic. read more

Without a doubt the worst chevy dealer in NC. Took truck in and service manager Bob Parante explained he would call me the next day and let me know the diagnosis. No call came so I called 4 days later. Bob told me he thought the mechanic had done something but would have to check with him. Advised me that mechanic was test driving another vehicle so he would have to call me back. I guess the mechanic never came back because I got no call. 3 days later I called where as Bob put me on hold and never came back to the phone. Decided to go get my truck and they had trouble even locating my truck on their lot. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place at all cost. Totally unprofessional!! Miserable. We brought it in for one problem. They had the car for three weeks and while they were fixing the first problem somehow two new problems occurred that we were charged thousands of dollars for. Then after we got the car back, the problem still wasn't fixed and we had to take it back AGAIN Where now there was another new problem. After another week and more money we picked it up. As we drove off we say som kind of bungee cord/clip dragging from the front of the vehicle. Extremely unsatisfied and feel as though the garage may be incompetent and messed up our vehicle permanently. read more

I was on vacation with my family and my mother's 2015 Buick Encore (with only 3000 miles) wouldn't start. It was the first time it happened so we didn't think anything about it. We jump started it and figured it would be fine. Well after having to jump start it 5-6 times that day I knew something was up. I drove it to OBX Chevrolet Buick on Aug 30th and explained the issue. The service advisor Bob Parente advised us that they were booked and didn't have an appointments available but he would see what he could do. He ended up taking the car in and told us it would be at least a couple of hours if at all before he could test the battery and see what was going on. We explained to him that the lease on the car was over in about a month and wouldn't mind looking at possibly leasing a new car. He steered us to a salesman named Cory Piddington. Cory was an extremely nice guy. He was very personable and had us our test driving a new Encore before the sales floor was even open. He texted the manager Marc Hellman before he even got in and explained what we were looking to do. After a little while the manager Marc Hellman came in and sat down with us. He asked about some finance stuff and went to work on getting us the car my mother wanted. Unfortunately we couldn't get the monthly payments where we wanted them. This was not due to anything lack of trying or help on their part. They did everything they could to give us a great deal but as I stated my mother wasn't able to get to the payment she wanted. We then left and waited to hear back about he car and battery. Around 4:30 that afternoon Bob Parente called us and told us that they were able to check the battery and the car. It turns out that the battery had faulty cells and they replaced the battery under warranty. No cost to us. A lot of dealerships knowing that we were pressed for time and were leaving for home in two days might have tried to get over. They could have said the battery was bad and that it needed replacing and charged us for it. The service people at OBX took the time to do the right thing and make sure we got the service that we needed. I have nothing but great things to say about this dealership and the people we dealt with. Don't hesitate to stop by for your vehicle needs and service. Thank you Bob, Cory, and Marc. I saw a vehicle online that was exactly what I was looking for. I called to confirm the price and they sent a quote which showed price ,fees, tags and taxes. I advised I wanted the vehicle so he asked if I wanted to pay deposit over the phone. I Said I preferred to see it first. They failed to advise there was damage to front bumper.!When I asked was that the best price he came back with a price $4000.00 higher but he said the sAles Mgr would honor the original quote ??? I called 3 days later to tell them I was on the way there (3.5 hrs away) and they advised that it had been SOLD. Next day it was still on web site so my wife called to inquire about availability. She was told it was in stock?? We made the trip there and it was on the lot for Sale.! After being lied to several times I showed them the quote and they said they made a mistake on the price and left off freight and prep. It was a local trade! Prep was 699.00 .he said that was cleaning and oil change.Oil indicator showed 65% left on change??? YOU CANT MAKE THIS UP! Probably will consult my attorney friend.The General Mgr even came to me and my wife and said if we weren't happy we dont have to purchase it...That was professional! I can only speak to my experience, stopped in for an inspection was asked to return later in the afternoon, which I did. While everyone seemed friendly and nice it took 2 hrs and 45 mins for a simple inspection. I recently took my other car to Meinike for an oil change and inspection which for both only took about 35 minutes. May be a good place to purchase and as I said they were friendly but hanging out at a service department all afternoon is not my idea of fun. read more

Came to the outer banks for vacation and my 2017 malibu went into reduce engine power mode several times. Looked up causes online and everything pointed to gas pedal. I dropped the car off at OBX Chevrolet Buick on sunday night and got the po home call that it was "fixed" on tuesday. Went there they said it was a loose wire but these 3 codes came up wich 2 of the 3 said there was a problem with the gas pedal. Did they fix the gas pedal...nope instead they said it was a loose wire and it was fixed. They charged me $250...I asked if we needed to order a pedal and they said not it's fixed dont worry about it. Well we paid and went about our vacation...we didn't drive that much on the island so we assumed everything was fine. Little did we know that the day we went to leave to do the 10 hour drive back home the car broke down again with the same problem that the dealer said was fixed and dont worry about it. Since they are the only dealer on the island they can get away with messing with people's wallet "fixing" things that dont need fixed and not fixing the the things that need it and is covered under warranty. read more

me and my girlfriend went to look at trucks and they tried to sell me a lemon and got mad and aggressive when i called them out on thier BS told me the carfax was clean but it was two pages worth of repairs and the truck had a possible rod knock and a serious lifter tick, they told me thier best tech looked the truck over and said it was perfect, guess they didn't know i have certifications that could tell them different. ricardo and bobby are terrible great salesman but shitty people. they almost got my girl to sign the paperwork while i was looking at all of the issues on the carfax that they told me was 100% clean i asked them why there were over 15 repairs and an accident and the answer was "this can happen to any vehicle" i had to walk out before i lost my temper because of how rude they were and how hard they were pushing this truck on us trying to tell me i didn't know what i was talking about. seems like they might need some new techs also. worst car buying experience ever. read more

"Mr. Take my painted new truck and shove it." I bought a 2015 chevrolet silverado from a dealership from atlanta Ga. This dealership got my truck from OBX Chevrolet. OBX chevrolet did 4500$ in repairs to this truck and never disclosed to the dealership i bought or to me as the customer. I have since found and have approached them. After weeks of speaking with the General Manager Marc Hellman and also the Owner of the Dealership Jeff Cappo who also owns Victory Automotive Group. We came to a resolution or so i thought at that time. The vehicle next morning I recieve a phone call from Jeff Cappo telling me we are doing nothing for my situation and it is not there problem. I have major problems here. This dealership has basically sold this other dealership and bad vehicle and so i have a bad vehicle and they wont do anything about it. I have tried over and over to get help. I have emailed and called and they wont assist me except saying they will not do anything. I will never do business with OBX Chevrolet or any dealership in the Victory Automotive Group ever. anyone who has done business with them needs to check into there vehicle make sure theres does not have major repairs like mine does, This is supposed to be a brand new vehicle, however it is destroyed from there work they did. I have bought several vehicles from this location over the years. I have never been through anything like what we went through buying the latest vehicle for my daughter. This was not a luxury purchase. Someone almost killed her in a car accident, causing her to total her vehicle. We were working with insurance money and had a hefty down payment of two thirds of the asking price of a particular vehicle. We get there and are approached by Hunter, the salesman. Apparently, they have imported a whole new crew from all over the country for this business very recently and he was one of them. He needs to learn how to treat folks. This was not a luxury purchase. We went in with exactly what we wanted and the terms that we wanted. He was told right from the beginning that if he couldn't meet these terms, it was ok, but we would have to go else where. We got a lot of confusing talking in circles from him the entire four hours we were there. He put a wad of chew or tobacco or something equally as gross in his mouth and was spitting in a Mountain Dew bottle during the test drive. Upon exiting, he left a nice, big chuck of the stuff with a huge smear on the cream colored fabric interior. He tried to push some Car Doc maintenance agreement on us when wanted an extended warranty. He said it WAS the warranty. It wasn't until he walked away and we were able to actually look at it that I realized it wasn't a warranty. He tried to pass off a $900 maintenance agreement as a warranty. When I called him on it, he said he wasn't familiar with NC warranties and I'd have to go talk to someone else about one and he went right on to the next subject. Whenever we wouldn't agree with his offers, he'd use this annoying "Well, let me ask you something" catch phrase and give us some ten minute scenario. By the time the car got there, it took two hours for the people that test drove it for four days to bring it back, we just wanted to leave. We tested it, dealt with the chewing tobacco, decided we wanted it. We thought the mess he left would be taken care of when it was detailed. It wasn't. There's a nice, brown stain there now. Before we even looked at the car, he asked me twice for the cash down payment. I told him I wasn't giving him any money until we looked at it. After we drove it, I gave him the cash and asked for a receipt. He left with the cash. No receipt. After four hours of this mess, my daughter left the building in tears and I demanded my cash back. I got his stupid catch phrase question again and I interrupted him and told him all this was ridiculous. She had the credit, the two thirds down, ect. This should not have gone on this long and we were leaving. This went way beyond the typical haggling that goes on. He went and got the manager. I repeated it all to him and began walking to the door. All of a sudden, we were offered the warranty and the less than $200 a month that we wanted. I told them this should have been done in the beginning. We had to leave, as we had to get to work. Signed a hand written document of intent, got a receipt for the cash and left. We came back three days later for the car. Took two more hours to do paper work. Now we're up to SIX hours. As she's signing things, there was the Car Doc thing that we DID NOT want, all added into the loan along with the warranty. I had had it by this point. The manager, Moses, took it off. It shouldn't have been on there to begin with. Good Grief. I gave two stars instead of one because the manager and finance lady were great and because nothing was wrong with the car except for the nasty smear. I was surprised that the tank wasn't full of gas after all that though. As I said before, I've bought roughly eleven cars/trucks from various places, including this one, and have never felt bullied before. Until this time. Be very careful who you deal with there and make sure you stand your ground and demand what you actually want and stick with it. People around here are a fickle bunch and word of mouth is a huge thing in such a small area. The new folks there need to get this fact and act accordingly. That place already has a less than desirable reputation. Behaving like this isn't going to change it around at all. read more

I don't take the business of buying a new Buick lightly. The last time I did so before last week was 16 years ago. The Century that I purchased in March, 1998 carried me reliably and comfortably for 152,000 miles. So when I ventured out to OBX Chevrolet after work one night to look at their inventory, I wasn't sure what I wanted, but I knew what I did NOT want. I did not want a high- pressure sales person. I did not want an inflated price. I did not want to be insulted by the offer for the trade-in value on my Century. (Hey, just because it had 152,000 miles on it didn't mean it wasn't in terrific shape!) With a long list of "Don't Wants", I was a little disappointed to see that the sales manager (whose name I learned was Ricardo Rojas) was still working at 7:38 PM. I had thought I would have the lot all to myself. Nonetheless, I decided to ask him a question about one particular vehicle. I was sure he would be in a hurry to go home, because it was obviously after hours. To my delight, he answered each of my questions patiently. There was NO high pressure. There was no question too insignificant for his complete attention. The next thing I knew Ricardo was introducing me to General Manager Marc Hellman. Marc should write a book on customer relations, because he won me over right away, when I was prepared NOT to be won over. My Thursday night drive up to Kitty Hawk for the express purpose of checking out the inventory in solitude ended up with me taking a loaner home for 2 days. Two days later, I returned the loaner, which was a 2013 Buick Lacrosse. I loved the car, but wasn't overly anxious to make a deal on that day, because I still had my beloved 1998 Century to think about. Trading it seemed to be a non-starter, because I didn't want to be offerred $500 for it. But the process that Marc used was fair, based on Kelly Blue Book, a reference I frequently use. Other incentives came into play, one of which i want to pass on to all of my fellow educators. OBX Chevrolet has SPECIAL PRICING for educators now through early January, 2015. TOURIST beware. I did not have a good experience. My vehicle sat for an entire day before it could be diagnosed which was communicated but then I still had to follow up to get answers. Recall work was performed without my authorization. Ultimately work I came in for was not performed as I was on vacation and wanted to use my dealer who was willing to do the work at less overall expense. However upon my dealer receiving it, the ball valve in the high pressure line was damaged and the entire line needed to be replaced at $450 plus 3.5 labor hours. I left a message for the OBX service manager to call me. After 4 days of waiting for his call I am done and the store can have my CSI survey. This was a very bad experience, luckily OBX is not my local Buick dealer cause I would not do business with them. read more

Now called OBX Chevrolet Buick. I have had bad luck both with the service department and the sales manager. I used to own a Buick Rainer. I took it in for a check engine light. They said it was a bad "something" (I blocked it out) and charged me $400.00. Three days later the check engine light was on again. Brought it in. They said the unit they replaced three days earlier was bad again. Charged me another $400.00. Then I received a letter asking me to come in because they wanted to buy my Rainer. I went in and they gave me a written offer for $11,000.00. I went elsewhere and bought a car. Within a week I returned to OBX Chevy, written offer in hand, which stated "offer good for one week", and told them I wanted to sell. Then they said the Rainer had to be re-appraised by the sales manager because it may have depreciated. OK, how much can an SUV depreciate in less then a week. Answer, $1500.00. New offer was $9,500.00 and that was after I argued. Initial offer was $9,000.00. read more
