I had an emergency visit for my first visit from an old silver crown spot and fractured tooth. Kylie did an awesome job cleaning my teeth and then Dr Perry explained work I needed. The following week I went in and I swear it was the best experience for what I was having done. Many of the reviews you read on here are about his dental work, office staff and atmosphere he provides for his patients, BY HIS PATIENTS! I am here to write about the experience he provides for his TEAM. Because you can read the over 140+ Google Reviews about his practice to know you have made the right decision by choosing Dr. Perry as your dentist. I want to tell you what happens behind the scenes. Dr. Perry, his wife (Cara) and daughter (Brynn), bring HEART to the practice. They are generous, fun, and a genuinely caring family that put their practice, staff, and patients first. By doing so, the staff you are greeted with are a reflection and extension of them. We are all human and all have unique personalities, just like any group would, but there is something about working for (and being a patient of) Dr. Perry's team that makes you feel you are part of something special. They make you feel like FAMILY!!! Maybe it's the combination of his love for his family, the Texas Rangers, TCU, and gardening. Maybe it's his background of growing up in Christian schools, singing with the Texas Boys Choir, traveling the world as a child or simply pride in his work that makes him who he is, but whatever it is it's rare! Moving to Austin, I was sad to leave a practice that set a very high bar for all other practices. A bar so high, I haven't been able to plant roots in a practice here yet, even though the offers have been numerous. I miss working with The Perrys and his team, my dental family. So much so, I committed 6 months ago to working 3 more weeks with them this August while his new Full Time Hygienist is on vacation in Australia. Despite being in significant pain and clearly explaining my symptoms, the office refused to call in a prescription for antibiotics without first seeing me. Unfortunately, the earliest available appointment was several days away--after the weekend--which left me without necessary treatment during a critical time. In situations where infections can escalate quickly, I expect my dentist to take pain and potential health risks seriously. Instead, I felt dismissed and unsupported. To make matters worse, the staff member I spoke with was rude and dismissive, which added to an already stressful situation. Ultimately, I had to seek care elsewhere and was able to obtain treatment quickly and affordably. This experience has made me realize the importance of asking future dental providers how they handle urgent situations before becoming a patient. Had I known that it was even possible to be asked to wait several days while having an infection before even seeing them to get a prescription I would have never chosen this dentist in the first place. My next dentist that will be the first question out of my mouth how do you handle critical care? I show up for a 7am appointment and I am shown a cancellation form. Took me asking multiple times to receive any form of contact info for an "office manager". Also told me that me that my brothers insurance was accepted and after 8 months and 5 separate visits, received a surprise bill and told they do not accept his insurance. Told me some bs about how it took awhile to fax over insurance information from provider. Never received one call from the non existent office manager. Dr. Young is great but will not be retuning after multiple problems with his front desk staff who only know how to swipe cards and setup appointment. Extremely disappointed after I have had extensive work done at this office.

I really like this dentist, because I feel listened to and the dentist is really smart. I had no…read moreidea I was a clencher. I mentioned a concern with a crown and gum recession. I asked if it was a bad quality crown, because the metal was showing under the porcelain. He explained not entirely the case. He said that part of the reason for gum recession on a back molar was because I was clenching. The process of clenching creates a wobble motion on your tooth and makes gums recede. This is my analogy: think of a post in the ground. You push and pull it back and forth and the dirt recedes. My last dentist just said it was because the gums don't like the material and recede. Long story short, he recommended a mouth guard for almost a year now and the pockets of recession continue to improve. 4s became 3s. 3s became 2s. Sometimes my dentist can run behind, but if you need to get somewhere and you tell them, they will do everything they can to get you out on time. This was the case last year when I had to run for kindergarten lunch with my child at his school. Honestly I would rather he take the time to educate and make me a bit late than just treat me as business as usual or a check box. My previous dentist was time efficient but never offered the same level of care. The previous dentist at a different practice just wanted to do the cleaning and send me on my way. My overall dental health has greatly improved here. There is data to prove it. Highly recommend.
