You don't get a cleaning on the first visit, only xrays and an exam, meaning you have to pay the office visit fee twice. Despite only have a handful (less than 9%) of gum testing showing a 4mm depth (a "warning" level by their own metrics, with 5+ being signs of dental/gum disease) and zero bone loss shown on xrays, I was told (after being forced to wait 30 minutes for a "treatment plan") that I had to pay $400 for a special deep cleaning. A standard cleaning was REFUSED despite no formal disease diagnosis. All of this came from a business manager, not even the dentist. When she started talking about "discounts" and "legal requirements" I knew I was being jockeyed for a service I didn't need. There is no law preventing a cleaning, and they also could not provide a policy showing this was the expectation from their parent company. The parent company was unresponsive to inquires about said policy and if this was a company decision or a business manager going rogue. Be wary.

The Initial Examination by the Dental Hygienist took the liberty of pushing the sale of expensive orthodonics to align and straighten teeth and expensive Deep Cleaning Gum Therapy Treatments. During the Dentist Exam it was determined that an Old Capped and Root Canal Tooth needed to be extracted but instead of simply doing the Tooth Extraction which was covered by the UNUM Dental Insurance decided to refer me to an expensive Dental Inplant and Surgery Specialist ( A Good Friend of the Dentist). After taking all the expensive pictures and scans of my teeth and jaw scheduled the Expensive Deep Cleaning for a week later to allow time to complete the time consuming procedure. When I learned that Deep Cleaning and Gum Treatments were not fully covered by the UNUM Dental Insurance I called to Cancel the Appointment as I could not afford the Expensive Dental Procedure which DFL quickly changed to a Simple Dental Cleaning in order to get a few last dollars out of my Dental Insurance was subsequently advised by DSL that my UNUM Dental Insurance would not longer be accepted by DSL and that I would need to find another Dentist Office that accepts the Insurance or pay Full Price (Non-Insured) Costs for Future Dental Services Rendered by DSL. Now forced to have to find another Less Greedy Dentist that will accept my UNUM Dental as Full Payment for Dental Services.

Her regular dentist kindly coordinated with Dr. Zaher (Dr. Z) at Ideal Dental to have the replacement tray mailed to that office so my daughter could pick it up locally, saving her from having to drive out of town. Unfortunately, when the replacement arrived, Dr. Z refused to release the tray unless we agreed to transfer my daughter's entire (and expensive) Invisalign case to her office. Keep in mind: this office incurred no cost and performed no work other than receiving a package in the mail. At first, I assumed this must have been a misunderstanding. I asked to speak directly with Dr. Z, but she was unavailable. My daughter's regular dentist then called to clarify, the message relayed back through the front office was the same: transfer the entire case to Dr. Z or the tray would be sent back to Invisalign. The front office staff were polite on the phone, but the situation left us feeling that financial gain was prioritized over patient care and professional courtesy. My daughter has a long-standing relationship with her own dentist and would never consider moving her entire case over a single replacement tray. Based on this experience, I would strongly suggest others proceed with caution. What should have been a simple act of professional cooperation turned into an unnecessary and disappointing situation.

I went into a routine cleaning today with a few concerns and questions about whether restorative dentistry would benefit me, and got a very in-depth and honest explanation about what that would look like in terms of responsibility and upkeep and how at this stage, I don't really need anything that intense. My hygienist walked through my options with me about how I could improve my smile with gentle whitening and smoothing to address a few small chips in my front teeth. Which, we did and I'm beyond happy with!! I'm so glad I didn't go the route of potential veneers or composites, which is what I feared my only options were when I first went in. But once they move your kid to the the adult side, then a whole other story, they want to do the same, even if no parent is presenting to consent. She is only 16, so instead of working with you to add a note to her file not to allow additional devices unless there is a parent consent, they want to threaten you with canceling the appointments and not providing the basic/ intended service.
