Smoking in the bar made the atmosphere horrible. Combined with poor service this is somewhere to avoid.

It delivered on smokiness to the point of entertaining me too! My glass of rose was great, a normal choice for me. The gumbo had excellent flavor and the small whole bird on top was such an interesting presentation. The crispy skin had great flavor as did the chicken itself, complemented the creole flavor of the gumbo perfectly. I hate to admit that the tomato broth, dare I say gravy, kind of stole the flavor show. We both loved it. I nearly forgot I had grilled bread to accompany it as I was spooning up mussels and the delightfully flavorful tomato broth. Service was totally on point until the very end, when getting our check was a bit slow. We had a new server respond to our rescue though, and they did discount our check a bit, which was more than we were expecting. The seating arrangement for us ended up being at a communal long dining table, not a private booth. It wasn't our first date, and we loved being in the middle of the room and watching all of the dishes and drinks flow by. The view of the booth tables by the window would also make for a great view when the street is busy with ample people watching. Great experience, would definitely recommend. Take note, they do not take reservations so either come early or allow time to wait.

I asked my foodie group for recommendations and read reviews here and chose this place because they have a Sushi Ninja popup on Wed-Thur-Fri. We LOVE SUSHI! And hubs loves whiskey! Traffic was SO BAD it took an hour and a half to get to the Terrace from Goose Creek. Left at 4:45, parked at 6:15. Show at 7:30. This is why I stick close to home. But we hit Paddock & Whiskey and had the best time, great drinks, and excellent Sushi Ninja sushi! Best in Charleston? That's a high bar. But wow. This was excellent sushi. I ate a piece before the pic, it looked so good. We got the Nigiri Mori at the recommendation of the amazing bartender, and I also got her favorite gin and tonic. Local, very fruity and naturally sweet. Lovely! The drink was good too LOL Seriously, though, the Tropical Gin from Beyond Distilling Company is sweet and fruity-good. The Aburi scallop is not to be missed! I swear I got an almost Bleu cheese taste from it, in the most pleasant and pungent way. The A5 Wagyu was also a hit. The Bluefin Tuna, Hamachi, and regular scallop with smoked sea salt were all so fresh and delicious. It was all so good. The sushi chef came out since he was told it was our first time and was so kind and genuine in his appreciation for the fish. I am impressed. The sushi was gone in a minute so we ordered another round and hubby was offered a discount dram (or 2) of a special bourbon and of course he couldn't say no. It was worth it. The space is tight but that makes it cozy and sincere. I would totally hang out all the time if I were local. The outdoor seating is great, too. This is an incredible locals bar tucked away in an art theater strip mall with an amazing sushi meal three nights a week. Where do I sign up? If you're in the area, check 'em out! If you're on the way, be patient and turn up the music. It's all waiting for you. Would brave the horrific traffic again for it.

The room is small but a very nice space that takes you away from the noise of the bar. The quality of the bourbon and the information shared by CJ made this a great experience and one I would recommend. It was fun to chat with CJ and learn more about his experience working in the industry and Charleston. It was great to also be able to try their oysters, new slider, and wings. All of the dishes we got were unique spins on classics and flavors we wouldn't be able to get anywhere. All of the whiskeys were very smooth but we could definitely tell the higher proof ones. I also tried their house made ginger beer to have in case a chaser was needed and honestly it is the best ginger beer I've ever had! I can't wait to come back to try more of their drinks especially something with their ginger beer and other menu items.

It sets the tone immediately, and the festive energy carries straight through the meal. We kicked things off with Bloody Marys and a Morning Fog -- simple, classic, and done right. For starters, we shared the Hula Hoisin Wings. They were definitely on the heavier side with the hoisin, but still absolutely delicious. The Mistletoe Mango Tuna Poke Tacos were a standout. They come as a small plate with three appetizer-sized tacos, and every bite was bright, fresh, and beautifully balanced. The Buddy the Elf Burger offers a choice of a single or double patty; ours was cooked perfectly. The smoky bacon really brought everything together and gave it that extra "wow" factor. We rounded things out with the O Come, All Ye Fried Rice with Hanger Steak, which was another winner -- perfectly cooked, flavorful, and incredibly satisfying. As if the meal wasn't great enough on its own, we happened to be there while Emily Curtis was performing. She's truly incredible and added such a fun, memorable vibe to the day. I'd be remiss not to mention Kevin our server. Go see him. He was great. The whole team works great together. Don't let the bar-like atmosphere fool you -- Prohibition is far from your typical bar food or bar scene. There's a great space in the back, and the elevated menu makes it absolutely worth the visit. A festive, flavorful, all-around fantastic experience.

We had to order drinks off their holiday menu, and they did not disappoint! My wife tried the Heat Miser with Hangar 1 Vodka, pineapple, ginger beer, and habanero tincture. The drink resembles his flaming hair with a little red-light lighting up the ice. You can choose your heat level as well from mild, medium to hot, my wife chose the medium and it had a nice kick. I tried the other side with the White Christmas with Hangar 1 Vodka, Cointreau, rosemary simple, lemon, and white cranberry juice. It glittered like new fallen snow with a little white light to add to the glow. The cranberry provided a great festive flavor. For our appetizer we ordered off the happy hour menu and got the chips and queso for only $5, but we added chorizo for just $2 more. The queso was very flavorful with the right amount of spicy chorizo throughout. My wife ordered the steak sandwich off the Factory Classics menu. It came with shaved beef, onion, arugula, green tomato aioli, on a cheddar rosemary hoagie roll and a side of chips. The steak was nice and tender and that hoagie roll was spectacular. Finally, I order the Reindeer Chilli, which of course was not reindeer and chili was misspelled to add the "chill" factor. Why this is not a regular item I don't know. It was beef prime rib, kidney beans, cheddar, scallions, and sour cream. It literally had hunks of prime rib, and the flavor was warm and inviting enough to melt any grinches heart. So, if you are looking for a place filled with the holiday spirit offering great drinks and food head out to Bar Mash!
