Really bad experience with planting trees. They plant 18 trees and couple of them started leaning to one side just after they left. Very poor quality of work. I called them the next day and they promised to fix it but never came back. When called again and talked to Mr.John who was not at all ready to listen or consider the request to schedule the visit early before the tree fall down. I will never go back to Oakland. Have been buying from here for a long, long time. Probably spend about $10,000.00 a year on average here. they had 2 benches on sale for $200.00 a piece. we purchased one and decided to go ahead and get the other one. i sent someone that works for me over to get the other bench and they charged him over $600.00 for it. long story short they gave us $200.00 back and still charged us $400.00 for the bench that they were selling for $200.00 crooked business owners here. not really how you do business . read more

Customer service is absolutely terrible, they all act bothered, like they hate their jobs, and that they would rather be anywhere else. I made a return for the first time ever and I could tell the man behind the information desk was visibly annoyed because we were playing a game of 20 questions. After blaming the plants death on me, he told me that hydrangeas aren't suited for full sunlight. Upon going out to their nursery on the giant sign in front of the hydrangeas that I purchased it said in bold letters that they thrive in both full sun and partial sun. This was my first time at Oakland Nursery and it did not disappoint, I was in HEAVEN! The amount of beautiful plants for indoors/ outdoors was amazing. I was looking for plants to fill for my pots outside the front door. The plants were labeled by annuals & perennials, the sign did tell you how much sun the plant needed. That helped me out a lot, it was my first time buying plants for my house and I had no clue where to look. Plants were kinda expensive but isn't everything. It would have been nice to have someone come ask if I needed help but all workers were busy doing something. However it was nice to wonder around and get a feel for the whole place. We were eating lunch at Rebol so we stopped by. It's a great place for landscaping stuff as well as indoor plants, bird feeder stuff and other related decor. There's a place next door with more decor and such for your home. You can buy all kinds of soil, peat, etc for your plant and find pots for your plants. We mostly hung around the green house. They have your typical trendy plants: succulents, dracaena, terrarium plants, Palms, bamboo, air plants, etc. Had to get a fern! It wasn't a bad price at $9.99. My sister found a neon pothos and a peace lily. I will add that parking is kinda atrocious. It gets filled quickly! And some parts of it, you can't even turn around. If you are into horticulture, gardening, or just like decorating this is the place for you. We usually like to come a few times a year to freshen up our holiday decor and get some new plants and such. And they have some of the prettiest wreaths, benches, and lawn decor around. We came in specifically for all things fall and oh my gourd they did not disappoint. From mini hay bails to every type of squash we could think of we were set for the season. The staff at Oakland Nursery is always super kind, friendly, and helpful. While the store is organized well it is huge and can be overwhelming at times. The staff is always great at letting you know how to find items with ease. They can be a little pricey on certain items but we have also found some deals as well. Stopped in here yesterday on my personal outing to feed my plant addiction. :) I walked through the store area first that had a variety of home decor items. There was also a huge bird area in the front with alot of different varieties of items to choose from for your house. I made my way back to the greenhouse where I was in awe. I walked around to see what was available - from pothos to snake to spider to floor plants, etc. My list for the day was to find a much bigger snake plant (score!!) and spider plant for the bathroom and front room of my house. There were many different sizes of snake plants to choose from as well as the other plants that they offer. After much looking around, I ended up buying a marble queen pothos, a snake plant, a coffee plant and a new planter. For what I paid, it was quite reasonable. Buying from a nursery allows me to know that I am buying from the right people. Definitely will be coming back here again! read more

I went to Oakland Nursery in Dublin today to buy English ivy. Flats were priced at $54. They had one flat left, only partially full with 40 plants instead of the complete count of 54. I went to the counter to check out, thinking a partial flat would be priced less that a full flat, but was charged $85. The person at the counter called over someone who I assume is a manager (Kevin or Keith), who said he'd charge me $54. Full price for a partially full flat? He said it was a deal since he wasn't going to charge $85. I told him that I would be taking by business to somewhere where pricing makes sense. He literally rolled his eyes and said "okay." Could not possibly care less. I am never shopping at this store again. read more

My wife was accused of removing price tags from some plants by an older man. She was trying to find a tag to tell her how much the plant was worth. She approached him to find out the price when he accused of it. My wife is a Pacific Islander but has in this country for over 50 years. I don't know if this man was being racist. We had heard that this nursery was the best place to get large pots and concrete decorations. We were definitely pleasantly surprised when we pulled in to the parking lot to see so many wonderful items right up front! This was our first time at this location and it was pretty awesome. We spent about two hours walking through their greenhouses, their outdoor plant spots, and their home goods indoor shops. So much to see in such a small area! I likes how they had larger trees for sale, which you don't see in many other locations throughout the city. The plant selection was also better than most locations and they had some very unique varieties of indoor plants you just don't see anywhere. The prices are a bit high in my opinion, but the choices definitely make up for that additional cost. We will definitely be coming back for more! read more

First time going and I was very overwhelmed. The place is HUGE! I liked all the knit knacks and would definitely go back. My only negative comment would be the lack of staff support in certain areas of the nursery. Due to the place being so huge and lots of different sections , a person in the location would of helpful. There were areas where you could tell staff was suppose to be present and they weren't. Could of been helping another customer not sure. I would definitely revisit. Been coming here for many years due to convenience and expanding selection of organic plant starts and natives alongside the standard nursery plant fare. They have a lot and the place is very well organized. They aren't the cheapest but the plants are well cared for and many grown by their wholesale nursery. Careful that sometimes plants are sold well before they can safely be put out and some things just won't ever do that well here in Zone 6b. Staff can be incredibly helpful or cold depending on who waits on you. They are busy and the work is hard though, and it would be good to recognize this is poorly compensated physical labor that actually requires you to have a lot of expertise. There are a lot of people who really know their horticulture here! You'd be hard pressed to find a better nursery in the city and they work hard to make it a positive experience. I'm a dedicated plant person and pretty much always look forward to shopping here. read more

There is ONE spot to park for people with limited mobility at the Oakland Nursery on Dublin Grandville Road . They have placed plants in the accessible spots and are absolutely NOT in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Beautiful place that had what I needed; however, the customer service was lacking severely... I called and got hung up on 4 times... I went in and a manager lady at the front barked at me... Then I walked back and got the run around again...They transferred me to a man in the back who walked me to the front to pick up my item...Heard an employee chide me for saying it couldn't be put on hold on weekends on the walkie... Today I visited Oakland Nursery in Dublin. I had a store credit of $134 from last year. I wanted to use this for the plants I had purchased which amounted to $130. Unfortunately, I was told that my store credit expired 3 days back and there isn't anything that they can do. They showed me the fine print on the bottom of the receipt. I know its my fault for not reading it and not being aware of it. They said its their strict policy and its not possible to do anything about it. It just doesn't seem right for Oakland Nursery to take the whole amount $134. At least they could have deducted a small portion of it. Nothing is impossible, I am sure the store can make an adjustment, but they didn't want to. Its just sad to see how these stores treat their customers. Oakland Nursery off Dublin-Granville Rd. has a lot going for it. Tucked on the service-type road it's location is seen by huge numbers of drivers skirting between Sawmill and Riverside Drive. My tours of this gardener's paradise but their household plants department for cacti and mini-plants is low on selections. There what I call a "Big Box" dealer in plants which is cool. I'm not a fan of their pricing on pots for planting but that's because I found a shop up in the Marengo/Fargo area that is country-fied and sells for less. Oakland Nursery sells a ton of household things, covering a lot of ground that shoppers in this Dublin area will like. Plenty of plants in spring/summer and a really nice indoor/outdoor materials. Good location. Decent pricing. Nice for home owners with above average size dwellings. Hit up Oakland Nursery. read more

Had a good experience while purchasing terrarium supplies recently. I had not dealt with tiny container gardens since the seventies. Happy to say the art form is popular again, and the Dublin Oakland Nurseries is ready. Among the other wonderful greenhouse plants such as orchids, etc., one will find the miniatures. They feature the green to the succulents and cacti. Hats off to Felicia who re-educated me on what and how to build the basic terrarium. She took time to walk me to each ingredient. The huge selection of display and growing containers was very impressive. So whether you've been saving that old vase or jar, you'd be sure to have that base covered regardless. This store and its people are lovely. Most recent wonderful experience was a search for seed packets for lemon balm as a stocking stuffer for Christmas. I looked in the garden section of a couple larger stores with no luck then called a couple garden centers with no luck until I called Oakland. The person who answered took the effort to confirm that those specific seeds were in stock. I would have been happy to know that any seed packets were stocked and then taken my chances to visit. This was by far the best experience my family and I have had getting a Christmas tree. I wanted a balsam fir for our Christmas tree, and after a few phone calls I was realizing it may be harder than I thought. I called and spoke to a lovely young woman who was fantastic. She told me she had them! So we headed down that evening. It was kind of confusing as to were to go and were to park - but we figured it out. We walked around the inside of the store for a bit, and that was amazing. Then we headed to the back where the Christmas trees were. Walked around for a second and found a gentleman that pointed us to the Balsam fir's. We found our tree and he took it and said he'd meet us around front. We walked through the store a bit more and then paid for our purchases. We pulled the car through and just as smooth as everything else they secured it to the top and we were on our way!! I didn't realize this place had so much more than just plants! As soon as you walk in you'll find a pretty good sized home decor section with neat little nicknacks. Beyond that toward the back of the store is a tea station with free tea! Republic of Tea seems to be the most abundant brand available with many flavors to choose from. They also sell cute little tea pots, which are displayed nearby. The houseplants are located inside with a section towards the center of the store and another towards the left posterior side. I love the nature sounds of chirping birds that play overhead as you peruse the orchids, ferns, and cacti. My only suggestion would be that they expand their selection of houseplants. I was shopping for maidenhair ferns and didn't feel there was a big selection of them. Also, airplants are fairly popular now and they were sold out. Out back is where all the outdoor plants are kept. (duh). They have a nice selection of annuals and perennials. I recommend heading straight for the tea when you arrive and enjoy a cup as you shop around. Awesome! read more

Oakland Nursery is definitely the best place (in my view) in Central Ohio. My favorite location is on 161. Great selection of plants all year round and I love the gift section. Over the years have found some great presents. I just purchased greenery to make porch pots and they have a wonderful selection. Prices are not the cheapest but you pay for quality. Ample parking and the additional Home store next door is a plus. read more

Went shopping at the Nursery around 9:30AM in a Tuesday. There was 5 female employees standing around gossiping. They did not greet us as we entered or walked around instead they looked as and kept talking and walking around the store. I made a $90. purchase and had to ask for a bag. The customer service was horrible. Nothing but stuck up and disgruntle women who are very unprofessional and racist. I will not return and advise everyone to find another Nursery. Compared to most nurseries around, I prefer Oakland. As Stephanie K. points out, there is much more here than just plants. I often browse the home dec/entertaining area inside for ideas. You can always come here to put together a stocking or an Easter Basket for a mom, sister, or friend. I think some of the items are a tad overpriced, but sales abound, and inspiration is always free. Besides, not having to run around town looking for something unique has its convenience charge, too. Last time I went in, I noticed the complimentary tea-tasting station was gone. If they simply moved it, I didn't see the new spot. In its stead, however, was an increased inventory of Tea Forte teas, and less inventory of Republic of Tea teas. The (possible) removal of the tea-sampling station, which was exclusively Republic as I recall, may be because they are phasing out that brand. As I have a modest investment in the Tea Forte system, I'm happy with the swap to more Forte supplies. Another favorite aspect: the options for outdoor pottery. If you go straight back and outside, turn immediately to your left as you exit the indoor part and enter the outdoor inventory. You will find beautiful glazed pots and planters for your potted garden. They are simply beautiful and I've not seen anything even close anywhere else. These go on sale in the fall, if you find them too pricey in peak times. You'll find more traditional terra cotta/plastic planters around the side of the building. I think the plants are in better shape than at Strader's. The selection is slightly less abundant, but I've always been able to find what I need. Nothing looks leggy or dry. I plan on going back soon to get gorgeous glazed planters for my front porch, begonias to last me through the spring/summer, and kitchen herbs for my back porch. Oh! And to help offset some of the cost-- there's usually a coupon in The Mint for $5.00 off a purchase of $40.00 or more, plus another coupon for something seasonal (rose bushes in the spring, par example). Often, but not always, they'll have a little free gift at checkout, too. read more

North Linden is not so bad we've got all those great Afican restaurants on Cleveland Ave, Ena's Caribbean food, Suzies Subs, and Oakland nursery. It's a great nursery with a huge selection. Some items are a really good deal, some things are way overpriced. Love the $15 annual flat deal. read more
