Horrible!! The lawn care team rushes through the lot. My grass is inconsistently cut and there are weeds through out my lawn. Do not use this company. Overpriced and there is no care in what they do. I'm a previous customer who they don't seem to care if they lose. So for the 2nd year in a row I've received a text about aeration. I've called and explained to them I do not want my credit card info stored in their software. I am happy to pay for services the day of service, before the service is even provided, but they won't accommodate. This is actually how they used to do business. I called for an estimate on aeration. The company sent an email but no estimate. I scheduled with a different company. A week later I received their estimate in the mail. I call to schedule two their services, overseeding and fall soil enhancement. I didn't need the aeration because it had already been done. I spoke to Tim who said he couldn't sell the other services unless I scheduled the aeration too. No where on the website or on the estimate does it say the services are all or none. If fact, the estimate has the services broken down with a cost for each service. Maybe this is part of the reason the reviews are so poor. read more

UPDATE: After this review, and this pitiful lack of customer service response from the "owner", they are still calling me, harassing me, and soliciting business! Just got a call again today from some foreign lady named Carol. Talking to somebody in the office doesn't matter, so them typing it on here as a solution response is ridiculous. Why the hell can they not just take my number out of their system, as I have been asking them to do this for YEARS ! Evidently this company is never going to quit harassing me, unless I either change my number or they go out of business!!! Biggest regret of my life ever giving them business!!! Reviewing a company includes everything about that company from the quality of service, to billing, to customer service, and everything in between. This is their response in regards to customer service, and it's quite sad, not to mention no apology nor accountability given for their 8 years of poor customer service. The way this company does business with customers, is the correct way to leave Google reviews. They apparently only want reviews based on the quality of their service, but that is not what Google reviews are set to do. There is no limitation on how or what to review for each company being reviewed. I encourage others that might be experiencing issues that are outside of their desire for just quality of service reviews, post their honest reviews. If they're negative reviews, then you would hope the company would read them and learn from them. Provide a positive experience and you receive positive reviews. That's simple. There are many companies out there that DO care about customer service and do a great job! I really regret giving them my business. I used them in 2017 to do my mulch beds. That was the last time I used them, 8 years ago! Every year I get numerous phone calls and emails soliciting me for business. I have consistently told their staff on the phone to quit calling me, and to take me off their list because I like who I have and I will never use Hoffmans again. Just a couple weeks ago I responded to an email, sternly this time, reminding them yet again to take me off their list and never contact me again. And now I get it yet another phone call soliciting me for business! There's an Asian sounding man there that will not leave me alone! And every now and then it'll be an older sounding woman that calls. I get that I gave them business once so they can "legally" contact me, but 8 years of me telling them numerous times each year to stop soliciting us for business, is beyond ridiculous and has become flat-out harassment! I hate to put this in a review on Google, but since phone calls and emails are ignored, hopefully this one the owner will do something about and take me off their list. It used to be that I just wasn't going to give them business because I like who I have, but now I can tell you I would not give them business if they were literally the only landscaper within a hundred miles of me! I work nights at the hospital and get home and bed around 6 am. At 7 am hoffmans comes to wake me up with extremely loud large mowers on a tiny lawn. Hoffman sent me a bill for lawn mowing that was done over 2 years ago. The last prior communication from Hoffman was in August of 2015 (following our final service from them) indicating that the $32.10 due would be automatically charged to our credit card on file, as had always been the case. To make matters even worse, I received a follow-up email the next day threatening to report me to the credit reporting agencies and turn my account over for collection!! When I followed up, they didn't answer their phone during regular business hours. When I finally heard back from someone via email, I was told it was too late in the season. Undependable company. Leo is the best. He had mentioned how the company takes pride in the lawns they service and at the time I thought it was just a nice sales pitch. A few months later, I just happen to be home when he is there applying a spot treatment. He even took time to remove some of the weeds by hand. I also need a lot of education when it comes to the lawn, and I've always been able to get answers from Leo and other employees. So when he said that they take pride in the lawns, I believe him. We use their weekly lawn mowing service, fertilization and aeration. The crew does a great job each week and is very thorough. We've also used them for tree removal and fall cleanup. First, the company does average/good work. No issues with that. My issue with them is communication. I requested repeatedly to be called before fertilizer was to be laid, but this rarely occurred. Then, to my surprise, after requesting a quote for the new season, and not accepting it, I found out that they automatically roll customers over from one year to the next. Lastly, in the confusion about this issue, they closed the order, but also applied it to a different work order I had agreed to for bed edging and mulching without notifying me. This has left me to scramble for another company at a late date when everyone is booked. I asked them to re-consider for this job, but they refused. Interesting how the owner is trying to use warranty, wet season and Colorado Spruce not being suitable for Ohio climate (really??) as reasons for his company's deplorable service. First, the wet season had nothing to do with the failure of the trees as they were planted on a rise. His foreman never mentioned anything about such a potential problem before or when they were planted. The fact that they had contracted Colorado Spruce "blight" before being planted was the only problem. Andrew did not want to believe that a customer actually took the time and effort to do some research when they started looking poorly a few months after. Secondly, a third party expert determined within a few months that the trees did in fact have blight. Thirdly, as far as any warranty is concerned, Andrew let so much time go by without replacing the diseased trees that the so called warranty was voided anyway. As far as Colorado Spruce not being suitable for Ohio climate, well, just look around and see for yourself that is fake news. The fact that so many are doing so poorly is in fact because of the blight. Colorado Spruce that have blight die from the bottom up. As a landscape company owner one would think he would know that and either steer customers away from them or not sell them at all. Why now say that they are not suitable for this climate? The fact that this customer kept meticulous records, photos and got an arborist to inspect the trees soon after planting (and determined they were diseased when planted) is the reason we proved the owner wrong and got our money back. It is natural that he would be embarrassed because of his many oversights but no amount of trying to explain away his mistakes will make his excuses valid. We are happy campers now because we proved our case, short of litigation, and got our money back. If you do use Hoffman's Landscaping, we advise you to keep meticulous records, take photos and take great caution if or when the owner gives you his word. read more
