I used Joseph Tree Services to remove a large white pine, grind the stump and remove the debris. They came highly recommended by a friend. While their actual tree take-down and stump grinding was done well, the removal crew arrived early morning the night after a torrential downpour. When they arrived, they should have seen the wet conditions and left immediately and called to reschedule. Instead, they put down heavy, rubber lawn "protectors" which only served to damage property. Yes, there is a clause in the contract stating they aren't responsible for lawn damage, but this was negligent damage. Something completely different. They also trespassed on my neighbor's lawn - which they didn't have the authority to do and most of the damage was to his lawn. I don't know what happened to my flowerbed edging. It looks like they dragged the tree trunk through it, completely demolishing it. On a positive note, Charleston, who did the stump grinding, was a delight. After the fiasco damage from the last crew, he carefully followed my instructions on where to drive and place the grinder. He even took extra time to remove more of the pine chunks after I asked him to do so. I did ask for and received a discount on the invoice, but the main point is the damage should not have occurred to begin with had the tree removal crew noted the wet yard conditions and rescheduled. So, if you hire this company, be sure you are home when they arrive so they don't trespass on your neighbor's property. And if conditions are not ideal for the work they are contracted to do, that you intercept them so they don't damage property as much as they did with me. read more

My neighbor and I had a mammoth maple tree right on our property line. It had probably been there for hundreds of years. Watching this company remove the tree was one of the most professional things I've ever watched. These guys are as skilled as it gets. Knowledgeable, safe, and efficient! You seriously could've set a China cabinet beneath this tree while they cut it down, and it would've been unharmed. Not to mention, we are in Clintonville, where space is extremely limited to get large equipment maneuvered, but these guys did it without missing a beat. read more

I highly recommend you contact this business before you make your final tree removal decision. We had an 80 year old Oak tree in front of our business in Powell. I contacted several tree removal services for an estimate. I found Joseph Tree Service estimate to be very competitive. But that wasn't why I hired them. They are just very nice people. So I scheduled the job. They arrived promptly. They took great care to protect our property and great care to protect their employees. Watching them professionally take down the tree was like viewing an acrobat show. They carefully selected and then surgically remove large branches which were tied together. They were then carefully lifted out of the tree area and softly lowered to the ground. Once there, they smaller piece were loaded into a chipper, again with great precautions for their employees. They didn't just hand feed it, they tied it to a rope and pulled it in while walking away from the chipper. The larger pieces were carefully picked up and moved to a larger truck. Both the chips and larger pieces will be converted to mulch and firewood. The clean-up was immaculate. There weren't any large pieces or even small pieces anywhere. The entire area was raked and cleaned up. It was like they were never there. Two brothers own the business. They are both fire fighters and paramedics. Many of their other staff are also a part of CFD. Like I said, I would place them on your list to call. You won't be disappointed if you make the same decision I did. read more

I have used them twice since becoming a new home owner and they have done amazing work on both occasions at a reasonable price. They are true professionals! They removed the trees I wanted removed, ground up the stumps, and when I got home from work I could not find a single twig or leaf as they do an amazing clean up job when they are done. I cannot tell you just how fabulous of a job these guys did. I cannot imagine ever calling anyone else for tree work. They took down 2, 80 ft tall evergreen trees and trimmed 2 sugar maples that are enormous. They were totally awesome. You would never know they were even in our yard! Most professional team ever. If you need tree work done, this is who you want to call. Their online estimate request system couldn't be easier and they respond quickly to schedule the appointment. They are extremely professional, detailed oriented, and priced competitively. There are no worries with this tree company about changes to the price once the work begins. More importantly, however, they go above and beyond. We had them out to grind a 60" stump and remove several trees and their employees were beyond professional and courteous. They even pulled down poison ivy for me off a tree they had to climb since I had a newborn and couldn't get there out there to do it myself. In addition, they came to the door and warned me about a hive of carpenter bees living in a tree/stump they removed out front near our mailbox so none of us would get stung.
