Exceptional service: Izzy was warm, helpful and very efficient! This place is huge and we were the only people there for nearly a half hour. They opened at 8:00 am on the dot. The menu is fairly extensive and they serve everything (breakfast, lunch and dinner entrees) in the morning. We went to fairly traditional breakfast food: my grandson chose an à la carte waffle and then we asked to have whipped cream and strawberries added. He adored his choice. I went with a Country Biscuit which was truly ginormous! The biscuit itself was H U G E and had two eggs, cheddar cheese, bacon and chicken fried chicken all covered in creamy gravy. Wow is the only word that comes to mind. It will end up being three meals for me, at least. The prices seem pretty steep, but considering the huge portions, the prices are probably similar to other places (ounce per ounce). Oh, and the last thing I wanted to add is that your plates are delivered to your table by a robot, which was pretty entertaining for me, but even more so for my grandson. First, let me say- I recall coming here with my mother as a kid. So, while staying in Woodland briefly and seeing it was still open for business...I thought- must still be a favorite place. NOPE! We had to inquire if they were open because it was dark and empty when we walked in....(Warning) We were seated and our server was very pleasant and promptly offered beverages- we ordered a soda. We examined the menu that was Extensive. Maybe Too Extensive (Warning) - seems like places that go overboard on menu options and have low volume have more opportunities for food spoilage. We took the SAFE route and went with Breakfast options....Wise Move!! Both our breakfasts were delicious!! Hot, tasty and just what we were hoping for!! We were especially Shocked that this Dated little spot was forging ahead with Technology....with a Robot Waiter!! We're from Arizona where trends are the Rage. I hadn't seen one in person before!! Kudos for trying to stay cutting edge!! Here's my suggestion...use some funds to upgrade/update to ambiance, simplify the menu to focus on What your Specialties are...and, try to recapture the energy/community it used to have. First time visit 10/01/2025 09:50 hostess greeting me seems pissed, whatever the opposite of friendly is. Smells like an old bus station and kitchen grease. The carpet floors are gross! $15.00 for 3 eggs + 4 piece bacon (small skinny strips of bacon) $5.00 for coffee. Only thing available for cream is on table in self serving packets of sweetened vanilla industrial chemical crap. I asked server if anything else available? answer: "no whatever is on table is all we have" Won't be back. We visited at lunch and were surprised to find the bankrupt stew on the menu. That stew was a major draw for us years ago and under a different owner. Needless to say, we were pleased and I was quick to order. However, was a tad disappointed when it arrived because it definitely wasn't the same. The name was. I thought it was disappointing. I was looking for a place for a cocktail and happy hour snack which is almost impossible in Woodland. I found out they just started serving happy hour food so I ordered two tacos. Absolutely flavorless meat very little lettuce and cheese. They charged me $.78 for a teaspoon of onions, which I asked to be added to the tacos. The salsa was canned tomatoes with some onion and cilantro in it, again, no flavor or heat whatsoever. For having such a huge menu, I just have a hard time finding anything I like to eat in this place. Maybe they should reduce the choices and concentrate on making it fresh and delicious! We stopped in here for dinner on our way home from visiting the Ape Caves in Cougar. The restaurant was clean, well decorated and pleasent. The menu was extensive and made it hard to choose what to pick as it all sounded delicious after a full day of travel and hiking. Everything we ordered was delicious, freshly prepared and served with a smile and a robot! I ordered a margaritas from the bar which was personally delivered by Bob the Bartender. Bob stopped by after after we ate and asked how the drink was - my rating was in the top 10 of margaritas I've had over the years. I ordered the chicken cordon bleu. Don't see it often on a menu, so I was excited to try it. It was very unimpressive. Seemed to be from frozen and not freshly prepared. The Oak Tree was much better on a previous visit, today was a major disappointment. Crispy hash browns, good. Huevos rancheros, meh. Too much cilantro in the ranchero sauce which was a surprise since it rarely has it in it from my experience. But whatever you do, DON'T GET THE BAKED GOODS! I got a cinnamon roll to go. Big mistake. I'm giving these guys a bump on their rating because of all the bad reviews. I was regretting that I agreed to try the Oak Tree after reading all the dang negatives. But my dinner was delicious and the wait staff were amazing. We had Dulce and she was so friendly, thoughtful and attentive. But we interacted with others, everyone was great. I had the fried chicken, it was yummy. Everyone told me to try the Mexican food, so I'll do that next time.So glad I came. The only down sides: very dated interior, but honestly I thought it charming. Especially given its years of serving food road side of the freeway. The bathrooms were clean. The Oak Tree used to be an institution along I-5. When we went to Woodland the other day my elderly mother wanted to have lunch there. When we walked I it was like walking into the 1970s. Even with the spacious lobby contains refrigerator cases of desserts it just looked sad. Dark and nearly empty with aging leatherette booths. The food was just terrible. My mother ordered the pot roast which came with mashed potatoes and green beans. It smelled terrible and was covered with gluggy brown gravy which probably came from a jar. She ate a few bites and said she was full. I ordered the Mushroom Swiss Burger. Hard to ruin a hamburger, right? Nope. The bun was thin and soggy, there was a skiff of melted Swiss cheese and a few grilled onions on top of an obviously microwaved patty. No lettuce or tomato. 2 little pickle chips on the side. There was a tiny bit of bagged salad under the pickle. I ordered tots and they came out blond and barely warm. This is a sad, outdated place. So you'll have to ask them to turn the lights on for you, lol. BUT I ALWAYS GET SUPER SPEEDY service once they know I'm here. THEY EVEN HAVE ROBOT WAITERS!! TBH, the bathrooms are not always 100% functional, the bar is dark, and the staffing levels are low (only one waitress for the whole dinner and bar), not to mention the decor seems a bit "flea market finds." But I come here regularly for the awesome value. And the food is great! These ain't your tiny street tacos! They are nice and big crunchy corn tacos (they can also do flour)... and yes, I usually have to put a napkin on my plate to absorb the extra grease. But seriously! A traditional pub in an area of Woodland Washington with impeccable service. As someone waltzing in at 10 am with a suitcase in tow, they made me feel welcome and were super nuce. Ambiance is great as the lounge offers a pool table and a table for card games but the place still has a homely country vibe. The food is pretty good. I love how their specialty is "mess" mashups which typically involve a mixture of eggs, hash browns, cheese and some other ingredients that while it may not be the most visibly appealing, it tastes great! read more

However, the food was not good. The french toast was on this huge, thick piece of bread which I don't feel like works for that kind of dish. The bacon tasted like the cheapest they possibly could find... I didn't finish my two pieces. Which says a lot because it's BACON. The eggs weren't good either unfortunately. It had been many years since I ate there. Before it was a casino, we went for Sunday buffets and had celebrated work holiday parties there, always having great meals and service. I was pleased to hear it had reopened and on a sentimental journey stopped by on a Monday afternoon. Each staff server was very pleasant and I chose to be served in the lounge. The bartender/server gave me great recommendations. I had the hearty beef stew, 1/2 sandwich and an ale. Service was prompt and food was hot and tasty. I enjoyed chatting with my server and even took home a huge fresh cinnamon roll! (I've been enjoying it for breakfasts since!) I want to be clear that our server, Eladia, was great. The restaurant was very understaffed. I called 1/2/2024 and made a reservation for 13 people for 5:45 dinner on 1/5. We arrived at 5:25 and had to wait to have the table set. We were served our dinners 1 hour and 15 minutes later. Some items were cold. The fish and chips was 4 tiny square pieces (2" square) of flattened fish sticks. Most of the other food ordered was good. I fault the owner/manager of this restaurant. You put an undue burden on your staff. If you can't afford to hire staff don't accept reservation for large groups. Sadly, living here in Woodland, there are so few places to go. Went to oak tree for the first time since the remodel and new ownership. I got the chicken fried steak, eggs, hash browns and toast. The building had a really nice face light. It looks great inside. Very inviting and classy. My only complaint is that they don't seem to have air conditioning in the restaurant except the bathrooms. The bathrooms felt amazing. I'd definitely get my meal again but most likely not on a summer day. I thought I'd come in to cool off and finally try the oak tree. Just a bit too warm in there for me. Good was ok. Was empty when I went in. Finally found my group I was going to meet. I parked at a gas station in front. First I went in a foot and it was under construction. Kind of an odd place. Well, I used to visit Oak Tree when our family lived in La Center. I now live several miles north. Had come to see family and friends and began to realize I was quite tired and probably unsafe to drive. So, I parked under their huge oak tree and took a short nap. Waking up,I realized I needed to use the restroom quickly - Went into the restaurant and was quickly approached by a staff member who refused my entrance. I am not a homeless person, just a well dressed smiling traveler. So, knowing the nearby Casa Tapatia to be kind, courteous and professional, I moved on to there. Have been coming here for decades with our families, so when it was announced that there was a reopening, we were excited. Especially for the beet salad, as it was legendary. Our visit today was truly a disappointment. The beet salad wasn't even close. It was some greens with 1/10 the amount of beets they used to put on. Not even comparable. They didn't have dressings I preferred, one of which is always on the beet salad. It's 3 hours after opening, how can you be out already? The rest of our meal was very good, which is why 2 vs 0 stars. Service was horrible. Waitress brought our order then never saw her again. No refills of water, 6oz glass so it was small to begin with. No checking to see if our food was ok. Asked another waitress for help twice and she ignored us. They were not busy either. Only had maybe 6 tables going. Sad to say we won't be back. Had told our kids and families we were going to take them there sometime, but not now. Now plan to tell people it's not the place to go anymore. read more
