Fantastic shopping experiences and the quality is superb. I recommend this place for your every special icy

Tiramisu and Black Forest slices

Hit or miss depending on what you pick from the case, which I've experienced at other locations too. I would say about half the items (last time I got 6 treats ranging from cupcakes to mini tarts to cake slices and a kolacky) I paid for were actually fresh. The other items were clearly not made that day and had been sitting sadly in the case for a while. On the last few occasions, whatever flavor of cake slice I chose was definitely staling, so I definitely don't recommend buying cake by the slice. No wonder all sales are final. I do support buying custom order or pre-order cakes here though! Really fresh cake when made especially for you. Easy parking in the strip mall lot too.

Baptism and Chrismation celebration cake.

Always impressed with this bakery. Cakes are outstanding - beautiful and delicious. They also whipped together an amazing baptism cake with a little over 1 day notice - absolutely perfect! The miniature goodies are also works of art. Highly recommend!

OMG, this place is Chicago's bakery for a reason. They did our wedding cakes (why get one when you can two at twice the price, lol...) and we also got this DELICIOUS "Cherry Yogurt Gateau" for a recent birthday. Gosh, this place kicks those cheap grocery store sheet cakes to the curb with all the flavor and quality! Thanks again, Oak Mill: your cakes rule!!! :D

Oak Mill Bakery has a number of beautiful wedding cakes on display at their bakery in Arlington Heights, and we started working with Bill there. The first step was to arrange a tasting. We had two of our close friends join us for a cake tasting. For an hour, we leafed through books of cake designs, and tasted various cakes and frostings. At the end we had decided on our cake design, and flavors. It was a very enjoyable experience. We ordered the cake, and provided our own topper before the wedding. The cake was absolutely beautiful, and tasted delicious. I receive numerous compliments from guests about the cake. It looked, and tasted wonderful. I recommend Oak Mill Bakery without any hesitation.

With demand and supply, we now have a vast variety of Asian bakeries in the suburbs. However, we…read morecontinue to keep Pastry House Hippo on our revisit list because there are several baked goods that we thoroughly enjoy: melon pan, choco melon pan, cream pan, Doraemon, apple custard pan, and raisin bread. We recently diverged from our usuals and tried the sando with pork katsu. It had some shredded vegetable and ketchup-base sauce. I am indifferent to it but I am not opposed to trying the other savory items. We have gone on different days and times over the years. The shelves are almost always well-stocked. Sometimes we would have a brief wait for them to replenish the raisin bread loaves but it is the mister's favorite so it is worth it. The bakery staff are very friendly and quick so the lines are kept moving.

This has been my routine for decades, yet I just realized that I had never actually left a rating for it. What makes this bakery especially appealing is its soft, airy, and smooth bread and buns, which are handmade using ingredients sourced directly from Japan. My personal favorite is the red bean bun. While my sister loves their sandwiches and milk bread, which has an incredibly soft, fluffy, and moist texture. All of their bread and buns are made fresh daily. Many years ago, they even allowed their staff to take home any unsold sandwiches and bread at the end of the day! With increasing competition from newer Korean and Taiwanese bakeries, I hope Pastry House Hippo continues to stay competitive. As a self-serve bakery, it would be nice if the buns were individually wrapped, something many other bakeries already do, to help prevent contamination from careless customers. My most recent visit was on the second day of the new year, and I was happy to see the shop bustling with customers. I hope this little bakery continues to thrive for many years to come.

Jarosch Bakery recently moved into a new location, but it still has all of the same amazing flavors…read moreas before. The new location is in a brand-new building, and their coffee selection has expanded as well. Their butter cookies are the best I've ever had, and it's difficult to leave without a box. Sometimes I even buy two boxes--one to eat on the way home and another to share with my wife when I get there. They have delicious, fresh donuts every day, and I especially love the donut holes they sell on Fridays. I also love that they carry Ideal Bakery's kolaczki and some of their other products. They offer fresh bread that they can slice for you when you order, or you can take it home unsliced. The staff is extremely friendly and patient while taking your order, and they never make you feel rushed, even when there's a line of customers. I ordered a cake and a dessert table from them for a party, and they did an amazing job. Salma was incredibly helpful throughout the process, offering recommendations and assisting us with our order. She took the time to answer all of our questions and made the entire experience stress-free. Keep up the great work, Jarosch Bakery!

However, the past few times I've ordered from there, the products have been somewhat underwhelming. Got two kolaczki's and both were very dry. Also got a slice of German chocolate cake and it was dry, too sweet, and tasted old. The doughnuts are generally very good as well as the coffee cakes. But the pastries do not taste as good as they look behind the counter. I admit, I did arrive about 20 minutes before closing, but that should not affect the taste that much.

Donuts, apple fritters, and eclairs were very tasty. The custards were yummy. Cons: Place was dead, not one customer to be found on a Saturday morning at 7:30am. Stop going to the chain coffee joints and try a small place that needs us. I preordered a little leas than $100 worth of cakes, pies, and pastries so I grabbed some of the cookies to make it $100. The butter cookies are $33 a lb. Ouch! As soon as you take a bite they fall apart and crumble everywhere. The kids didn't like the taste and didn't eat any of them, a waste of $12. No prices anywhere other than the boxed goods or coffee signs. 4% fee for using a credit card which I get, but have it posted better. Couple small signs I caught over by the fresh stuff saying price tags reflect cash price, but yet didn't see prices anywhere other than on shelves by boxed stuff. Have prices posted. French silk pie was very thick and not very chocolaty. No one really cared for it, def would not get again. I looked back at receipt after I left and see a random charge for "open retail" for $3.12, no clue what that is. So was over charged for something I didn't get.
