A long time ago...In a state with insanely generous tax credits…read more.. I had solar PV panels installed to supplement my water heater system in a glorious effort to lower what was becoming an ever growing power bill. Between all of the household appliances and the increased air conditioner use to keep things cool (and sane), the power bill was going up... So it was a worthwhile investment. Many years later, I noticed that the system wasn't producing quite as much power as it once did and after noticing the panels were quite filthy with mildew and dirt build-up, it was time something was done. After doing a google and a yelp search, a shortlist was quickly produced and I gave Clean Solar Panels Hawaii a call. Dorian happened to be in the area and quickly stopped by to produce a quote that he explained what would be done and how they would safely clean the panels. The cost-effective person in me still sought out a few quotes and found his to be the most reasonable and he made me feel the most comfortable with the work that was to be done. He and his associate came at the scheduled time and quickly started going to work. They were quiet and efficient to the point I didn't even know they were walking around on the roof above my head as I worked the day away... He was even able to fix a broken part on my system that prevented it from reporting the power production a few days later. The results came in that night when I turned on my shower and found the hot water practically scalding. The water panels clearly needed a cleaning after 15-20 years... The proof came in the next power bill where it clearly was producing far more power and the electric bill went considerably down. Was it cheap to clean, no....it was a little bit of an investment, but it definitely is worth it to see your electric bill go back down. Dorian and his associate were very professional, affordable, and most importantly: effective in safely cleaning my panels to make sure what was a costly investment to install, continue to generate the returns I hoped to get, while being more environmentally friendly as I blast my a/c.

As expected Kelii was very knowledgable and patient as he answered my questions and gave me several options to bridge the 3,000 watt gap. More surprisingly he even honored the low pricing I received from the original PV install since it was within 2 years. Within 3 days his team arrived and installed 2 more panels using the same high quality methods, hardware and professionalism. I am extremely happy and grateful that I have such a solid PV system and installer anytime I need them. I still highly recommend Akamai-Energy. Side note: Kelii informed me that they started doing Air-Conditioning too which goes hand-in-hand with Solar. I wish I knew that sooner, I could have had one stop shopping for my new Air Conditioning and added more solar panels at the same time on the same day.

My husband called uncle Jes to come by and he sent his brother instead (whose availability depends on his location - he mentioned working on a neighbor island too). His brother came to "fix" our skylight and patched some areas on our roof, which we appreciated at the time. Unfortunately, the issue persisted. We had a drizzle during hard rains; clearly it wasn't fixed. After many ignored calls and no follow-up, we hired another roofing company to address the skylight, along with repairs for wood rot on our rafters & eaves. What we learned from the new roofers was that our roof installation wasn't done properly and definitely not up to standard. Pamalu should have removed the old, multiple damaged layers of rolled roofing (a full tear-off) instead of just overlaying the new one on top. We were advised that, due to this installation lacking a full tear-off, the roof is likely to need a full replacement in the next five years or so. In contrast, during our consultation, uncle Jes stated it should last 20 years and comes with warranty. That's a disappointingly huge gap in expectations. Ignorance was truly bliss and I'm honestly embarrassed about my old review now that we know more.

Regular solar panel cleaning is necessary to keep your system working properly and to get the most out of your investment. Due to the fact that we regularly spray down our system, I felt that wasn't dirty, I was wrong. Kai and his assistant arrived promptly, I could hear the power washer going but there was no deludge of water which was nice! Lopaka took pictures of the before and after and I was very surprised at the difference that panel cleaning makes. We are at the tail end of the solar production season, as it's late October, then come the winter months, but my system used to produce approximately 35-40 kwh per day but after the panel cleaning, my system's been hitting 45-50+. This is nice since we recently installed air conditioning downstairs. I came up with a Gayle special for cleaning, mention my name when you call and you will get a substantially discounted price just for my Yelp, and other social media connections. In order to get it, you need to mention the Gayle special. A price that you will not find elsewhere with the service that you will get.
