This place is a joke. I bought a 6 session laser hair removal Groupon. Since I was using it on my underarms they cut it down to 3 per. STRIKE ONE. My first session went OK, but directly after I finished they asked for a tip. Um, excuse me? Did it again on my second visit, but this time it was more of a demand. They gave me the technicians tip envelope and told me to put it there. STRIKE TWO I haven't been back for my third session, and I don't care if I lose the money. AVOID AVOID AVOID. I went to O Spa on a whim to get eyelash extensions before a big date. SO NOT WORTH $140. The extensions were $95 and then I chose to upgrade to a thicker lash for $10 -- some how the total came up to $140? The technician took over an hour to apply the lashes and I could feel the glue seeping into my eye. Are you serious? There was almost no light in the room, how could she even see? When she was finished, I basically had to pry my eyes open because she was really sloppy with the glue. On top of that - My eyes were tearing/ stinging NON STOP due to again, glue going into my eye. The tears and pain lasted for over 20 minutes - you would think I had just broken up with my boyfriend. TERRIBLE. I went to their new location in Garden City. It's closer to my house and they also participated in Spa Finder Deal Days and Spa Week as well. They have great deals all the time. This location acutally opened last month replacing another spa called Mahalo (which was also pretty good). O Spa renovated the place and completely redid everything and the location is so beautiful. They did so much to improve the space. Ok, now for the spa services: I had the swedish massage, seaweed facial and cellulite treatment so far. I came here 2 times and both times it was so amazing. The massage has to be one of the best I had. The facial was ok, I rank it a 7.5 for the good products and the massage and the way the masks feel. The extractions on the other hand are too rough and not well done. But I guess depending on which person you get it would be different. I had the same person both times already. The cellulite treatment was nice, better since it was on sale. I would recommend this place, they have good packages and they don't rush you at all. They also have free parking. I went there 2 days ago for a relaxing 50 minute massage and it was not relaxing! The place is gorgeous, exactly what you expect zen and serentiy to look like! Terrible. Miserable. Do not recommend... What's the opposite of recommend? We had service at the Garden City location. But the problem was really with the management/owners, so I'm reviewing them here. I hate to slam a privately owned business on yelp. I do. But we were treated so poorly. There was not a single positive element to speak of, except that the place is pretty. The lousy attitude at the spa, as well as on the phone with another manager, and the owner, is enough to warrant this long-ass tldr review. We bought a laser hair removal groupon for my husband for treatment on his back. Before we even got started, dealing with them was a hassle. My husband called to inquire about treatment areas (asking about natural borders and such) and despite the groupon page clearly stating under "large areas - full back", the man on the phone insisted it was half back only. We decided to buy it anyway, and I guess to their credit, when we showed up for a full back treatment, this was one area where we received no further problem. When I called to book an appointment, they told us that the laser machine at their flagship Brooklyn store was broken, and the other Brooklyn store was booked. When I asked about the broken machine, the owner actually said this: "You have machines in your house? They break?" Yeah, dude, my machines break. But I'm not selling discount coupons to hundreds of people for the services of my broken toaster, ya heard? So anyway, we made an appointment at their place out on Long Island. So before we went, my husband called up to see if he should prep in any way. They said trim to one inch. I actually trimmed him shorter than that, because being the Jew-talian I am I have some laser experience myself and I know if your hair is too long to start, it can burn you. So when we arrive (after an hour long drive) they tell us he's not trimmed short enough. That's when the term "not our responsibility" started getting thrown around. They said the trimming wasn't their responsibility. They told us to come back some other time, even after we told them we drove an hour AND had called ahead for this very reason, AND no one even offered that information on their own - we called of our own volition. They started lifting his shirt and shouting "BACK HAIR" in the middle of the waiting room, full of ladies. Happily, my man's comfortable in his skin. But their insensitivity could have been really upsetting if he was a different sort of guy. They then said they could trim him properly, for an additional charge. After going around for a bit, and explaining we'd called, and were given misinformation, and so...shouldn't they own some culpability there? I decided all the arguing was dumb, and we just decided to pay the extra fee to friggin get on with it. So anyway, here's the best part. They take him into the room, and have him take his shirt off, and whip out this pair of scissors that are basically what you'd give a kindergartner to cut construction paper. They were this pair of dull-bladed, plastic handled, child craft scissors that pulled - not cut - the hair out of his back. My husband looked so miserable, I left the spa, drove to Walgreens, bought an electric trimmer for $30, and brought it back, plugged it in, and handed it to the technician. Who then happily used it. They treated his back with the laser, with no protective eyewear. At the end, with my husband all covered in that gel goop that's a part of the process, they ask me if I (me) want to take him into the bathroom to clean him up. I had to hunt down some paper towel, and find a sink myself. They were going to leave him all goopy and sticky, otherwise. Then they start in with a few other points of conflict, including where/when we could make another appointment, and an argument about tax. So, as it turns out, the groupon did *not* include tax. Which, had someone been patient and courteous, and taken the time to show us the groupon screen, we would have said well fine, okay, and paid the $14 or whatever the tax would have cost. But after all the aggravation and lack of professionalism, we argued about tax. We were very courteous, I think, but we did get frustrated. At that point, the manager got super nasty, and halfway incoherent. The receptionist (a pregnant woman) was apologetic, but once the crazy manager jumped in with her talk-to-the-hand-'tude, I lost my temper a little, and we stormed out. I said I'd deal with the tax issue in Brooklyn with the owner at our next appointment. Long story short, they charged us extra on the front end and extra on the backend. They didn't have the proper equipment, and management has no idea how to deal with people. They didn't know what they were doing. This is the WORST service I have ever had. EVER. NEVER EVER EVER GO TO THIS HORRIBLE TERRIBLE ESTABLISHMENT. DO NOT SEND YOUR WORST ENEMY HERE. I bought a groupon for a brazillian wax a few months ago. I typically buy brazillian groupons because they are much cheaper than paying full price at a spa. As a result, I have had NUMEROUS brazillians over the years, in multiple cities, and I feel I am somewhat of an expert on them. A brazillian is never a pretty experience. You are usually laying on the table, exposed, with your legs bent and your getting a very uncomfortable hair removal procedure done. You want it done fast, quick, and well so the whole experience is over with. First, the woman NEVER told me her name. A NO NO! Second, I was asked to lay on the table with a towel over me. Typical. But then, she takes the wax heater and moves it onto the table with me! And then say "be careful" because if I moved, I would have hot wax all over my legs. WTF?!?! If this happens to you, it is not professional practice. Second, she over used baby power all over me. I felt like I was a baby being changed. Third, during the waxing process, she laid USED WAX STRIPS all over my legs, because she couldn't be bothered to throw them out right away. I came home and found wax spots on my knees. Fourth, the procedure. So many things went wrong here I don't know where to begin. The NAMELESS woman (since she never gave me her name) was so slow. The whole thing took over 45 minutes. A good brazillian should be 15 minutes with a good waxer. Then as she was waxing me, the wax kept on getting hotter and hotter. Now I have an extremely high pain threshold, so when I say it hurts, it really HURTS. I said to her the wax was too hot, so she said sorry sorry and started BLOWING on the wax to cool it off. I WAS APPALLED!!!! (I really can't make this shit up). Then since she did a bad job to begin with, she didn't get all the hairs, so she went over the same spots, MULTIPLE TIMES, with the SCOLDING HOT wax, burning my poor lady area. I finally said, "really, its ok, I can finish it at home" (which should not be the case). After all the burning, she says to me" you have sensitive skin", in which I replied "anyone would have sensitive skin if you kept on RE APPLYING scolding hot wax over and over to the same areas!" After words, I was swollen for two days, itched like crazy and pealed. I am STILL pealing over a week later. THAT IS NOT NORMAL! The worst part of the whole experience was the management. This manager is an absolute ding dong and has no understanding of the word customer service. After calling 3 times and speaking to the STUPIDEST receptionist on the planet, I finally got a call back from the manager, A WEEK LATER! I explained the situation, in which he said "we do that for our experienced clients" (bullshit, you don't know what "experienced" means). I asked for a refund from him, and since it was a groupon he told me I had to call groupon myself. This should not be the case, his company gave me the service and it should be his responsibiltiy to refund me in full, regardless of the groupon. Please beware. This place is the biggest ripoff. Very unprofessional. Purchased a 3 massage package for a full hour, but apparently in this place it means that it's only 50 minutes. Was charged the difference after my last session. I have never had that time of experience in my life! Let's start off as saying this a classic hustler run business. I really hate writting these reviews but it's a few days later and I'm still angry. -I went in after being recommended by a friend who said they like it Bc they have sensitive skin. I found them on groupon also after looking them up, before I purchased on groupon I walked in since it was in the nigehborhood and spoke to them they said don't worry about Groupon I'll charge u $40. I went in for the facial the room was freezing. She did the extractions which hurt so bad and I've gotten professional facials before from other places that my friends cried at and I didn't even flinch. She got product in my eye so it made it even more unbearable, her arms were all over me. Then she left a mask on me for over 20mins it was an hour facial. That took up a portion, I have acne skin and built up black heads which aren't that hard to remove, my skin barely looks any different from when I walked in. So now it's time to pay, she takes out an old calculator and types 40.50 and tries to make it look like that's with tax included, I ended up paying with card so I was actually charged tax which is $44. I was low on cash so I wrote in the cash on my card, she also hovered over me while I was signing and insisted I paid with CASH for the tip. Already got on my nerves, I pulled a 20 out of my wallet and ask for two 10 dollar bills, she stops dramatically and says "OH only $10 then just leave it on the card" I said don't worry. I have smaller bills on me she gave me a dirty look. After she takes my 20 and only hands me back 1 ten dollar bill and keeps the other for herself I found this rude and selfish, so I took out another $2 and slammed iron the counter and they just looked at me didn't say have a nice day or anything. Now I understand that tips help however your boss should be paying you enough that you don't have to scare customers away with demanding tips; I've read a lot of the other reviews as well at least I'm NOT the only one. I am one of those who went here with a Groupon for an aromatherapy massage. I agree with others: there wasn't anything "aroma" about it, but I didn't really care. If the aroma part is important to you, you will definitely be disappointed though. When I first walked in the door, I wasn't wowed or anything, but I was impressed by the care taken with the decor as soon as I walked past the front desk. Clearly, they are making an effort to create a spa environment. In my experience, there are two kinds of massage: 1) feels good at the time, but doesn't have any lasting benefits and 2) feels pretty miserable some of the time and maybe good a little of the time, but the benefits last beyond the session into the week and even month. This massage was definitely the former. I doubt that my masseuse is an LMT or had much training at all, but she did make me feel relaxed during the hour and, unlike most massages I get, I wasn't looking forward to the end--I wanted it to go on. In the future, I'm not going to pay for that really. I get massages primarily for the lasting benefit. But this was a nice way to spend some time and unwind. If I had the cash to do both, I'd get these sort of massages too! Why not? For music snobs, a warning: straight Muzak for the entire hour. Although this place is quite nice I will Give it that much the services are pretty crappy for the price, I should have read the reviews before going. BTW THEY DEMAND a 15% tip for services. The only good thing about the pedicure was the plastic bag covering the bucket, yes a bucket that you dip your feet in while sitting on this uncomfortable straw chair that's a 25 dollar pedicure. I went there for a massage today and DID NOT enjoy it at all. Not only was the massage at bit on the weak side, the lady had gloves on which made the experience unpleasant and unbearable. This is the FIRST time I had a massage where the masseuse put gloves on. Not sure what is the reasons behind the gloves but my back felt rough and somewhat scratched up after the hour massage. I'm wondering if the owner of this spa is aware of the usage of gloves during a full body massage or is it purely the masseuse's decision to utilize gloves. I've only ever been here for deep tissue massages. I think prices are pretty comparable. People have always been nice. I like the atmosphere. The basement might be considered creepy because of the dark, winding, vertical staircase, but I didn't mind. Quiet, controlled atmosphere for the 1 hour massage. No problems. I had the deep pore seaweed facial at O spa yesterday. I am giving only one star for many reasons. First I booked two facials for myself and a friend. They tried to put us in the same room. I asked for a separate room. The rooms were both behind the front desk with an open concept. Yes the door was closed yet I could hear phones ringing and conversations. This is not a spa experience. I had to ask for music to be put on. The room was bright. The woman who was giving me my facial left me on the table for about 20 minutes with the mask on. This was quite unusual to be left in a flat position for so long. The facial itself was nice but this was more a a facial you would receive in a nail salon. Very disappointed for $90.00. I wasn't given a massage on each arm and hand yet I was asked to wear a spa wrap. There are other places on third that are more expensive but give you a true day spa experience. This was by far the worst spa experience. I went there out of desperation for a good massage and a facial. I got a 2 hour special package for $153. The room for the massage is tiny, though pretty clean. You have to undress in the room. The towel is scratchy and uncomfortable. But that is ok I'm thinking, at least the massage will relax me, followed by aromatherapy facial. Well... Here comes the masseuse. First of they don't know what the word AROMATHERAPHY means. The girl used regular oil on me without any aromas. Massage was very light, like rubbing up and down. I know I didn't sign up for deep tissue, but come on! Put some effort into it. Then she would massage one arm and not the other, one foot but not the other... Needless to say by the time she was done with her light touch and I heard her dragging the facial apparatus into the room, I knew that I had to leave. No way would I let that inexperienced, unprofessional and not licensed lady touch my face. So I explained nicely that I'm too tired to lie for another hour. I need to go home. They made me pay the full amount (I didn't even have the guts to complain to the manager) and gave me a GC for a future facial. Let's start with tipping last time I checked it was optional and based on the level of service you receive. The staff is rude and does not listen. Before my facial even began I asked the where ladies room was and was told that there's someone in there and I would have to wait. Really quite unbelievable the way they think it's acceptable to speak to people. No I thought I would barge in and ask the person to leave immediately because I needed to use the restroom? The facial itself was poor. The staff person performing my facial kept touching my eyes and rubbing the product into and touching my inner Eye. Even after I pushed her hand away several time she kept doing it. Two of the products used were burning my skin very badly and I asked her to stop which she completely ignored and kept rubbing it into my face. After the service was completed I was waiting for my friend who had the same service she handed in a tip for both of us which apparently wasn't acceptable they thought that was for one person not for both even though I told them it was for both people. It's my own fault. I did it to myself and have nobody to blame but myself, well that and my laziness. You see, it was my pure LAZINESS that propelled me to try eyelash extensions at O spa. WHY WHY WHY did I do this to myself. Why? Because I was slightly mad that JJ eyelashes made me an appointment with my fave tech and when I got there she wasn't there, no phone call telling me this - god forbid! Miffed more so because I waited 2 weeks and a day to specifically see her and they charge me for the extra week when I was over just one day. Whatever, I am not going to complain about JJ now because this isn't JJ's review it is O spa and quite frankly at this point I am so sorry to have ever even THOUGHT about complaining about anything remotely regarding JJ's. I will take whatever they are giving and just shut my big fat yelping pie hole. Why you ask? Because not only did I pay $141.00 for extensions that look like I put on a strip of false eyelashes and rolled around my bed on my face for 8 hours, I tipped $30.00 too. The tech was sweet, just simply did not know what she was doing. My first red flag should have been when she said we have to take off the old lashes, um ok there are like 5 left since I was stubbornly boycotting JJ's really spiting no one but myself but okay, do what you must. The set is $95.00 I was told walking in, how I got to 141.00 is truly beyond me. I should have asked but you know when you just want to get the hell outta there because you are literally going to burst in tears because you are so angry? Yeah, that was me. HOW can this happen Lily??? We spent 20 mins going over what I wanted and didn't want. I saw you get the individual lashes all ready for me!! I had a coupon for a massage and facial special here. I went to the Bayridge location. Give yourself plenty of time to find a parking spot! I was 20 min late for my appointment searching for a spot. Oh well. The staff took it in stride. The decor is Asian inspired and very nice very calming and low lit. My masseur guided me down stairs to the massage room very nice and professional. She gave me time to disrobe and lie down on the table. Beautiful soothing music was playing in the background she covered me up and started her work. The work on my legs and arms was so so but then she started on my back. Every bit of tension and stress I had been carrying in my shoulders melted away. I had been having problems with my left shoulder. She gave it extra attention and I came to understand that pain was actually coming from my neck and radiating down to my shoulder. I could feel the pain leaving the area. She worked my shoulder blades and my spine till all my tension was gone. I had my mind already made up that she was getting a big tip. To end it she used steaming hot towels to wipe away the excess oil. I felt so good. I thought it was over but she flip be over and worked my body again from the front. I was in Bliss! But it wasn't over no, no, no! After the frontal work she rested my head on large pillow and began the facial. Her fingers found every pressure point in my face and relaxed every muscle even my scalp. There was lite facial scrub and lots of lotions and massages. She then placed a cooling mask on my face and let me rest like that for ten minutes. The mask was removed and my face cleaned again and moisturized. My face was so smooth, like silk. I was blissed out! She left me so I could get dressed. When I looked in the mirror I was surprised to see such a happy woman there. My skin was glowing! Not only did I give her a generous tip. I bought a discounted package from Groupon and I've never had an issue with any Groupons I've purchased. When I made the appt, I was surprised to find that I could make the appt for the same day. That was the only good thing about the place. Not one person spoke English well enough to communicate easily but I live in Brooklyn so it's not the first time I've experienced this. Then I find out that the person that made the appt neglected to inform me about something I should have done prior to the appt and they wanted to charge me for it. Not my fault, not my problem. I wasn't paying for it. That issue was resolved. I didn't have to pay for it. After the session is over, I went to the front to make my next appt cause I had purchased a 6 time package and I wasn't going to waste them. Plus the faulty fee issue was resolved. After I made my next appt, the receptionist shoves an envelope under my nose telling me that I HAD to pay the tip now. I wasn't satisfied with the service so I decided I wasn't leaving a tip. (it was a hair removal treatment and yet there was still hair in the treated area) At that time, an argument ensued with them telling me I had to pay the tip because that's what you do when you go to a spa and because they didn't charge me the other fee they waved. Basically I tried to tell them that tips were voluntary for good service and I didn't feel it was merited. They did not hold the same opinion. Suffice it to say, I will not be returning to that place and I contacted Groupon immediately to get a refund or an exchange. On a good parting note, Groupon was able to facilitate a refund for me almost immediately and I have to say they had the best and fastest customer service I've ever experienced. read more

The massage itself was fine. I had a Groupon and read the other reviews so I was not expecting much, and thus my expectations of the actual massage were exceeded. However, in the middle of the massage, another employee (female) slid open the pocket door and entered the room, leaving the door open to the hallway. My behind was waving in the breeze at that exact moment as she was working on my lower back!! I couldn't believe it. I complained and the masseuse kept saying sorry, sorry. The other woman walked right through the room past me, and dragged a big heavy laser machine through the room, scraped my elbow on it as she passed me, wheeled it out of the still open door and then closed the door. Never in all my life has someone entered the room while I was having a massage. She didn't even knock to give me a chance to cover up! Dear God, can you say UNPROFESSIONAL, UNHEARD OF, UNACCEPTABLE. I said so at the time and she kept apologizing. I really thought about getting up and leaving, but I was dripping oil and of course I would have been out of the money because you know they were not giving me my money back. I never relaxed again, I was so embarrassed and angry. All that aside, the oil was ice cold, they don't change the linens on the beds when one person leaves and another comes, they just put a paper strip about two feet wide on the dirty linens which means you are getting everyone else's skin cells from the edge of it to the edge of the table. Plus guess what happens when you turn onto your back? Paper sticks to you and you are laying on the dirty linens. It's a small salon, so the rooms are right behind the desk, and I had to listen to the front desk yelling at someone on the phone in a foreign language the entire massage. Then, when I was leaving and complained about what had happened again, the masseuse apologizing over and over (I gave her a $20 tip because it was not her fault) --- She asked me for $4.00 because the Groupon doesn't include tax!! The staff is very pleasant and they take their time during your facial. The prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is quiet and serene in the basement area. I had the microdermabrasion treatment three times now and my skin feels amazing. I will definitely go back! read more
