The owner, Gil, has run the business for DECADES and invests into making and reproducing difficult or impossible-to-find parts. Every year, there's a new trim piece, or lens, clip, bolt, etc, that was once impossible to buy that becomes available, brand-new. In addition, Gil has a stock of used parts in various conditions. If you just need a certain part to get by until you can afford a more permanent fix, he may have the correct part on his shelves. OGTS has exclusive parts that aren't available anywhere else, like sway bars, side-draft intake manifolds, starters, ignition switches, so many varieties of taillights and side markers, and others. As customer facing employees it is your responsibility to treat customers with respect and courtesy, they need your help to figure out what parts they need, customers are not professional mechanics and should not be belittled for not being so. As a former small business owner I know how hard it is to find good help, but as a business owner it's your responsibility to monitor your employees, many times when an employee has worked a job for too long they become bitter and unpleasant with customers because they are unhappy, when this happens it is time to insist that they change their attitudes or move on. The employee who is allowed to have a bad attitude and treat customers poorly is not doing you any favors, just costing you customers. Whoever owns or manages this store.. It's time to wake up! After speaking with "Ron" on the phone I was left with the impression he knew what he was doing sufficiently to hire him. Once he discovered that a physical disability was the reason I called a mobile mechanic he decide to complain about every detail and how it added to the cost. I was going to Pay the $300.00 plus $100.00 if his performance was satisfactory plus another $100.00 if he exhibited espirit de corpe. His completion was, also, untimely as he took from Friday to Thursday to do a one day job. Thus, I was gouged for $290.00, the $690.00 minus the $400.00 I should have paid given satisfactory completion, however belated, but clearly absent the desired spirit de corpe. While I should receive a refund of $290.00 I would be satisfied with $190.00. Clearly, there is room for younger, more talented and more honest practitioners in the Mobile Mechanic Industry. In the end, the JBA's really do give that extra low end boost to get up the hill, but the next time I need service I will not call Ervin's Mobile Mechanics.
