The food was very good, but beware if you're a visitor. As soon as we sat down, they brought two appetizers to the table, octopus and clams. We were surprised that they'd bring two appetizers, but the place was recommended to me by a Portuguese friend so I assumed that was part of what they do. After sitting there for a while, my wife and I noticed that they didn't automatically bring the same appetizers to the tables of local people, just to tourists.
When they brought the bill, it included charges for the appetizers we didn't request, a charge for two butters (I'm not kidding), a charge for the bread that we also didn't order, a charge for olives that we not only didn't order but that were never put on the table, a charge for a salad that we didn't have, and the correct charges for our actual meal. They deleted the olive and salad charge when I complained. I didn't argue about the other charges since we actually received and ate the food, even though we never ordered it.
The bottom line is that it's a nice, simple place set in the woods just past Cascais and the food is decent, but they apparently attempt to rip off visitors from other countries. Maybe they never heard of the internet. read more
