Four of us went on a recommendation and we were definitely not disappointed. The ambiance was great and our servers were very friendly. But what really made the night was the food. Unfortunately we never made it past the starters. Oysters were amazing - plump, fresh and delicious. Then the fried shrimp were excellent but what really was remarkable were the artichoke, beef tartare and truffle mayo apps. One of the reasons we never got to mains were 2 orders of those. Amazing food, service, and ambiance! Bar do Fundo takes the cake as my favorite seafood restaurant in Portugal. I ordered the whole fish and the shrimp gamba -- and everything was cooked to perfection. The view was also beautiful -- you get the view of the beach. There's nowhere better to eat seafood than by the beach! I took an Uber from Sintra here -- it was about 30 mins and given that this restaurant is usually pretty popular, I suggest making a reservation before making the trek over. read more

My friend suggested this place for dinner when we were in Sintra last November. I almost I had doubts about going because it was quite far from where we were and we needed to head back to Lisbon. But I am so glad that we went. The restaurant has a beautiful view of the ocean. We went there around sunset time, so we got to see the beautiful sunset from the outdoor area we were sitting in. it was chilly, so they provided us blankets. Though the price range is quite expensive but the food was great; had flavors and taste. My friend and I, we both enjoyed the dishes we ordered. It was a beautiful memory. Would definitely love to go back to this restaurant if I am ever in Sintra again. Highly recommend if you don't mind the $$$. read more

Great spot at the end of the beach. We are out on the patio despite visiting in February. Our kids were able to run around on the beach, and even got a bit wetter than I would have liked in the waves. The staff was very kind and made its feel at home. What a magnificent restaurant! The location is unique and highly coveted: right next to the beach, with cliffs beyond it, and the ocean's horizon your view. Parking can be a challenge but, except on the beach's busiest days, spaces open up regularly all along the beachfront. That small complaint aside, let me be very clear: you NEED to eat here! Our party ordered an array of appetizers, entrees, and desserts, and everything was truly wonderful. Don't miss the white wine sangria, bursting with berries and apples. The burrata with tomatoes and pistachios appetizer was incredibly tasty and beautifully presented, with the burrata creamy and a pesto that gave a sharp salty kick that made the dish. The beet risotto was met with the kind of "Ooohs" that were repeated when dolphins popped up in the ocean outside the enormous windows. The filet mignon was excellent and the citron and rosemary sauce made it go one step beyond, into the realm of empty-that-plate-or-you'll-regret-it-forever territory. The shredded codfish with egg and french fries was gone in a matter of eager moments. And the tuna steak with coriander rice was literally a revelation to one of our party. And then came desserts: affogato the likes of which we've rarely experienced; a lemon meringue pie with freshly-torched meringue and a balanced lemon filling; and a praline chocolate mousse that I think I'll dream about for a few weeks. As if all this wasn't enough, our server, Cristina, was delightful and enormously helpful, especially in ensuring some food allergies were well catered to, and intuitively and quietly providing additional spoons for shared desserts. Bar do Fundo is really excellent, both in terms of this region and spectacular restaurants anywhere in the world. You need to eat here. You WANT to eat here! Make a reservation and hope you get Cristina; I'm sure every other server is just as good but she deserves all the plaudits for ensuring ours was a memorable, wonderful evening. read more

Absolutely delicious lunch! With a group of friends we had the shrimp risotto, black pasta with shrimp and the pan fried codfish with green beans and goose barnacle rice. And of course sangria! The risotto was melt in your mouth creamy, the pasta was cooked perfectly and the green beans were seasoned with rock salt. The codfish was equally amazing. The owner came over and spoke with us and was very nice, making sure everything was perfect for us! And to top it all the view was spectacular!! read more

Great view, , drove from Lisbon bc I found it on Instagram, but had a hard time finding parking. I was with my thirteen year old and I had request from the guy that stood by the entrance, assuming it's one of the staff members asked ver politely if he can open the sun shade so I can enjoy the view, he wasn't happy with me taking him away from the lab top of phone... he replied that it's hard for me to put my glasses on,, if I didn't have a tenth I would have replied in the way he deserved but I was polite, was fuming if anger, had finished my drink and what I ordered and left. Wanted to prove to my child that someone like that will not ruin my night but in return I was appalled by his behavior. While it might be beautiful and the waiter was great, the manager at the door ruined the experience. There's a lot of great places, that it's not necessary to get attitude on your vacation, especially when it's something so small. After traveling to half dozen places in Europe he was the worse. read more

This place is absolutely amazing!!! My boyfriend and I took a day trip to visit Sintra, and found this place to have lunch. Its located at the end of the beach and hidden treasure. We absolutely feel in love with the food and service. Everything we ordered was exquisite, and are already dying to go back! Definitely a must in Sintra, or even worth the trip just to go to visit Sintra. The view is beautiful, just watching the waves and drinking a glass of wine makes the experience there even better. We ate here twice during our recent trip to Portugal. The food was fresh and delicious. Most of the staff speak excellent English. Obviously they specialize in seafood and fish. Their grilled octopus is heavenly. I'd recommend making a reservation if you plan on going as they don't have a tone of seats. The place is newer and more modern than most restaurants in the area. Fantastic!! Had lunch here one day and dinner the next. View is amazing, food is excellent and the staff is super friendly and accommodating. If you want to have lunch best to drop by early and reserve a table or be prepared to gave lunch at 3-4pm. If you are in Praia Grande don't miss this place. It is also great place for a date. I don't know if they are open in the winter but it is a must during summer. read more

We went for late lunch and that i think that is the best time to go. The staff was very friendly and made great efforts to make us feel welcome, as well as making good recomedations. I had the grilled octopus which was very fresh and cooked just right. The salad with goat cheese was also very good. I would also try the sangria. Came to have lunch with our children 9, 5, 5 & 3. Yelp had opening hours at 1000. We asked at restaurant and were told they don't open until 1230. We said fine, we'll wait. It was 1145 at that time. Stood around waiting for restaurant to open. At 1230, asked to be seated only to be told it's reservation and they are booked. Horrible horrible business practice. Won't return.
