We took a seat near the front door, so we had a front-row seat to the live music duo that came by around 10 or 11 PM. They performed wonderfully, and it was still quiet enough in the rest of the bar to continue chatting as we enjoyed the music. The drinks were solid; I had a caipirinha, and my friends each had a mojito. It's a bit odd to say that the British Bar was one of my favorite bars in Portugal, but it was still a phenomenal time.

First, this place is a must if you want an easy way to see amazing views of pretty much the entire city, which includes the Catelo de Sao Jorge. It worked out well that this was a last spot in Lisbon because it gave us a great last memory of the city (not counting the airport). Since we visited on a late Sunday morning, we were the only folks on the roof, so we had very "personal" experience. ;) However, I think this probably isn't the case after late afternoon because I can see this as a potential hotspot. Although we stuck to simple cocktails and beers, the bar has a pretty decent food menu with a bunch of items for folks to enjoy. Personally, I went with and stuck with the passion fruit margarita. For me, this beverage had a perfect blend of sweet and tart with a potent amount of tequila. For the roofbar aspect, I thought the cocktail prices (around 15 euro and up) were in line with a hotel bar (at least for US standards). Overall, the service was great because we never had to wait too long for another round of drinks. This spot definitely will remain on the list of things to-do.

And you're directly facing the Castelo de Sao Jorge. It's very intimate and there wasn't a lot of people when I was there. Since the Santa Justa lift is closed, one of the best locations to see a very similar view. I will say it was extremely difficult to find it at first. That is the main reason why I didn't get my five stars. The GPS gets confused because it's located on the second floor and so it keeps taking you down the street of the santa justa lift. I was getting so frustrated because I was looping around a bunch of times. In order to find it, you have to go to the Carmo convent and it is behind the Museum. Otherwise, though it has a classic drink menu for a decent price. There's around 50 people worth of seating covered and uncovered. I will say, though when the sunset happens, you're completely shaded by buildings and so it's on the cooler darker side until they turn on the lights.

We presumed Principe Real is Lisbon's mellower gayborhood. Embedded in an affluent residential area, this is where we headed after a full day in Belem. Despite some navigational challenges, this bar was our first stop. If you happen to gravitate toward the bulkier, more hirsute members of your brethren, this is the low-key bar for you. Initially we were confused by the smattering of straight couples hanging in the front patio, but when we entered, the gay element was much more prominent. Groups of gregarious men in tanktops were at the various hi-top tables. Lonelier bears hung out at the smallish counter. It wasn't that crowded even though it was a balmy night. We managed to secure a table for ourselves and had a couple of refreshing 8,5€ Expresso Martinis (Photo 7). No thumping music, more '90's dance pop. It was quite chill. I came across Cinco Lounge through my travel guide and I'm happy I did. Cinco Lounge is located in a residential neighborhood across the street from a casual park. As you walk into Cinco, you immediately feel the vibe with the dim lights and lounge feel. Since I was riding solo, I sat at the bar and was welcomed immediately by the friendly bartenders. They also have some tables and comfortable seating. I really can't say enough about the service. Both bartenders were cool and make you feel right at home. They have an extensive cocktail list and this is what you should go with as their cocktails are creative to say the least. I saw one guy next to me drinking a cocktail that had an ice cream cone in it...mind blown. I went with a refreshing cocktail with kiwi and other fresh fruit which hit the spot. I only stayed for an hour or so but met a girl from Argentina at the bar. Along with the bartenders, it was nice to be a part of a group in a foreign land. All of them were friendly, welcoming and went above and beyond. Seriously, not only did they do their job, but they went out of their way to make us feel special and welcomed. It was such a great experience. Oh, did I mention the view? Amazing! The food there was great, we had mostly sushi, sashimi, tacos, etc, all of which was fresh and tasty. The wait team gave us recommendations which were spot on. No upsells, but honest and right on the money based on what we described we wanted. They knew their stuff and delivered. That was a highlight for sure. Well done, SEEN team. And as a side note, the folks - well one person in particular - who complained about the dress code, it's seriously not a "thing." It's very clearly spelled out and it's not a huge burden. Image attached. It's clearly referenced when you make a reservation, it's on their website, and it's frankly not unreasonable. We saw a range of people there and they were all welcomed. The bottom line is, this place is a nicer place. If you feel like being overly casual, or sloppy, this likely isn't the place for you. And that's totally ok. There are plenty of other rooftops you can go to and be overly casual or sloppy at and fit right in, no problem. But honestly, you have to proactively work to not meet the dress code here. Especially during lunch. All that being said, we loved this place and will definitely be back. Highly recommended!
