Came here on a Sunday to try the menu. The inside is dated but clean, and it was relatively quiet for a bar. I went with a taco salad, my wife had the Buffalo chicken wrap, and my son had the fish and chips. The taco salad was very good, not great; the Buffalo chicken wrap was very good, not great; the fish and chips were way overcooked...bourbon dark brown overdone. The service here is quite good, but painfully slow. It took an uncomfortable amount of time to get our food (maybe because they just kept frying that fish). But seriously, I spent too much time in here. And yet, my server was great. I kinda felt sorry for the guy as he was trying. I'd go back. I just need to plan more time in my day when I do it. They are close to having it all together, it seems, but are just lagging. My guess is that they are understaffed as most places are. It's hard to find people. But if you're nearby I'd say it's worth a stop. read more

I am giving this three stars because the food was mid for the for the price not only that they have less than a handful of fries and the garlic toast was 1.5/10 edible but not good. Was very hesitant to try O'Neills as the reviews weren't the best. Glad I ignored the many outdated, cranky reviews, some over 7 years old, as we have gone two weekends in a row for the live music. Both bands were a blast so we didn't even care about the $10 cover as all the $ goes directly to the entertainment. These were rock concerts and at $10 a tix completely worth it. Now to the best part, I got 4 well drinks and my hubby/date got four beers with tip it was in the low $20s. Cheap, drinks, great music, clean stocked restrooms, hoppin' dance floor and friendly service fast! What more do you need from a bar? Haven't tried any of the food but anything that went by us smelled amazing and looked yummy. They were even still serving from the kitchen well past midnight. This is a great little Pub to stop in for a drink and a quick bite. They have indoor seating and covered outdoor seating. They have a variety of adult beverages and the typical pub food. They have lots of tvs around which makes this a great game time hang out. Then randomly they host live music from the local scene. The wait staff and bartenders are always friendly and helpful. If the kitchen is running behind, they will be honest to tell you before you place your order. I love that about them. If you are on this side of town, stop in and take a load off. Updating my review after visiting ONeills for their NYE party. There food has gotten considerably better from previous years. This establishment has been around awhile. They have great bands on Friday and Saturday nights. They were offering a 50.00 per person or 90.00 per couple NYE event. I thought okay that's not too bad. Probably a 2-3 drink max. Boy was I wrong. It was a buffet of food and open bar. It even included top shelf drinks. Anything goes. Wow! I'm not sure they covered their cost for the night, but I thoroughly enjoyed it there. The food: salad, beer cheese and veggie tray, potato skins( probably best in town) , cheese sticks ( definitely best in town), chicken tenders, stuffed mushrooms, wings! I had never tried the wings but they were really good. This was a great value for a fun night! Thanks Oneills! In search of fellow Yelpers recommendations for great places to watch a UK football game, I stumbled across O'Neills. It's in a strip mall off of Richmond Road, near Cobas and Durangos. I got there about an thirty minutes before the game. At first I tried sitting at the bar but soon had to move after being annoyed by the lady sitting next to me. She was attempting to make UK jokes in a sea of blue, who does that?! I moved onto the the low top table directly in front of the big screen, in front of the stage where a band apparently would later play. We started with an order of nachos (substituting the chili for grilled chicken). I hate not knowing the price of what I'm ordering so the fact that they didn't have a bar menu, was slightly annoying. Also, I don't venture out much when it comes to cocktails, so I like suggestions from a bar menu, one that doesn't exist here. So I stuck with wine. After my second drink, I learned that Happy Hour was until 7pm. When I asked what that included, I was told everything behind the bar. Back to the food... for the record, there were several people in our party, so I didn't throw down all of this by myself. The game day wings were $.75, which I think were a fair price but anything more would be overpriced. The game day appetizer sampler was a choice of any three appetizers for $10. I chose chicken tenders as one of the three choices and it included three tenders. The service wasn't excellent but I don't think the waitress expected us to order so much and only stay until half time, so she was a bit unattentive. The crowd was mostly middle aged. There was one group who looked younger than 21 though, most of them looked like hookers, they stuck out like a sore thumb. So, if you're looking for somewhere to show off your shortest skirt and take groupies in front of the big screen, this is not the place. Now you know one reason that I left at halftime. Wanted to try a new burger in Lexington, since I didn't feel like cooking one and everyplace we've tried has mediocre burgers (including the once-impressive but now flavorless O'Round). I have friends who love this place for the bands on the weekend, so we tried it out. Ordered two pub burgers and a beer cheese platter for a dinner while watching some college football. Very pleasantly surprised. The appetizer beer cheese had nice heat and depth of flavor (as former Winchester residents and beer cheese festival regulars, we're --maybe a bit sadly--connoisseurs). And unlike a lot of beer cheese platters, instead of 4-5 tiny pieces of celery and some package saltines, there were crackers, celery, carrots, homemade tortilla chips, cucumbers, and olives. So big we didn't finish half of it. For the entrees, I had my burger medium and my wife had hers well. Both were cooked perfectly to order, juicy, and flavorful. I was particularly impressed my wife's wasn't charred to a crisp considering it is a thick burger which would be hard to cook well and not dry out. The fries were...well... fries. Nothing special, but we're talking about a pub burger and fries here. They were fine. We'll order from there again, and having seen the bar, plan to visit for a drink as well. read more

I found myself here during a KY Wildcats game and it was surprisingly not crazy busy. A group of us needed to get some grub before heading out for a night run. They had some good bar food. All I wanted was loaded potato skins and they delivered. As more of our group arrived, the bartenders we patient with our obnoxiousness. And that night, there was an event that they were going to have to charge a cover for, but since we were not going to be there for it and that was not why we were there, the staff was nice and allowed us to come in and go out without having to pay the cover. I saw the green and white O'Neill's sign and stopped in on because I thought it was an Irish-style pub. It is NOT. It is a very average sports bar. There is a nice wood entry way and it looks like at one time it tried to be more like an Irish pub, but the only thing on the menu remotely Irish is fish and chips. They had Guiness and Harp but so does practically every bar in town. If there ever was a place that needs a name change and a new sign, this is it. I had a burger and a pint of Harp. It was average - nothing to get excited about. The menu is large (right away a bad sign) and it seems like many options are coming out of a freezer. The worst part of the experience was the slow service and the cigarette smoke wafting in from the side door to the patio, where my server spent most of her time smoking. read more

Nice bar and patio area. I honestly hadn't been in O'Neil's since the remodel and I was pleasantly surprised. My bf and I sat at the bar so bartenders doubled as servers. They were friendly and service was fast (the place was almost completely empty save a few random people around the bar and out on the patio) unfortunately the potato skins were burned and the onion rings were close to it. Overall the food was ok (probably really good if not slightly toasted) and the decor was that of the nicer sports-bars in Lex. I think we'll go back. So I'm only going to give this nook and crannie 2 stars. It's small but quaint and I really wanted to like it because it's close to home. We got our drinks right away but waited way to long to get our food. Its bar food. It was just ok. Never got refills on our soda. Had to finally get up and go find someone to get our check. :-( I'm not a needy customer so if I'm complaining about service...well...you know. Then there was 50's music playing. I felt like we walked into an old VFW post. Maybe just an off day. Not sure. There are so many better places to eat in Lexington that I would suggest you try them. Went do a sponsored drum clinic their tonight with Ken and James that play with Luke Bryan. Very informative for someone that played drums or bass. Had dinner club sandwich and potato skins they were wonderful. Friend had hamburger and onion rings they were wonderful also. I will probably go back now that I know where they are it was really good so was the service. Thanks for the Drum store on Southerland Drive that put this one it was really great. Was our second time there. First time the food was really good and was on a weekday night, so no expectations. Last night we decided to try something different then our norm route and went there to listen to some live music. Me and my wife went there to watch Zach Attack the band. It was a good venue other than the fact that when ordering a drink at the back bar. I ordered a Grey Goose Vodka and Soda and watched the bartender make the drink the entire time. I will not let anyone fix me a drink without me watching them fix it, even if they don't know it. He put a cheap vodka in my drink and came over handed it to me and tried to charge me. I said that is not Grey Goose, he said it was. I said it was not, and he got mad and I said I want Grey Goose. He is running a scam! Charging people for the good stuff and pocketing for the big ticket item. My wife told me that he did not ring her up. I found that odd. He is ripping this bar off. He then called me a name or two. He told me to leave his bar! I said no. He jumped out from out behind the bar like i was some type of terrorist or something and acted like he was going to fight me and put his hands all over me pushing me toward the door with the rest of the bouncers. I am floored. Here I am, only having 1 drink, only questioning a bartender for trying to rip me off. He's busted, so he gets in defense mode and kicks me out. The difference is, I'm not 25 anymore, I'm in my late 40s and I'm not going to fight back like they want so they can look justified in their thievery. I believe many are in on the act. I noticed that he should have been sent home immediately, and me not been kicked out of the bar. He should be fired for sure, as he is a thief, and is stealing from this establishment. Who knows how many are in on the scam? I own 10 businesses, and this is classic defense on how employees behave toward customers, and managers when they are caught. No rationale. He's caught, and this bar will suffer in numbers as long as he is around, and who knows how many others are in on the act. I suspect many more. Where there is one there are many. It was so obvious how they all took to his defense, and here I am being attacked by thuggery in a Lexington bar of all places. read more
