This review is pointless I guess. They are closing as of January 1, 2026. Are they closing because of the terrible service? Or did I get terrible service because they are closing? I sat at the bar and was ignored for about 15 minutes, even though they looked right at me. Finally one of the bartenders asked if I wanted food or drink, and I said just drinks. "I guess I can do that," he said, and then told me to move over to the other side of the bar to be closer to him (it was right by the door, so I got to experience cold rushes of air the whole time I sat there). Also during my time, a German cockroach skittered across the bar top. I thought maybe the bartender was just sullen, but he was very animated and interactive with the younger couple who came in after me. I had to flag him down for my second drink. Everything seemed like an imposition to him. The drinks were fine and well priced. But the drinks don't matter when the vibe is that bad. I got the check quickly and left. read more

Really cool atmosphere. Speakeasy bar style... 3 women set up and played holiday music on violins. It was lovely. Very reasonably priced as well. Server and bartender were friendly. I ordered the Cuban and the Patty Melt, both with fries. The Cuban was soooo good!! The bread is grilled and crispy, buttery and amazing. The pulled pork and ham were so flavorful and perfect with the melted cheese and pickles. I would 10/10 order this again. The patty melt was also great. They also have my favorite fries (similar to McDonalds style fries). I'm sad they will be closing at the end of the month. A wonderful dinner. read more

Stopped into Thirsty Fox for a casual Sunday drink. The inside had a beautiful bar, large from patio, and decent amount of indoor seating. The bartender was also waiting tables as it wasn't too crowded. Our group tried the Myrtle Molly, Quiet Quitting, and local hazy ipa beer. The cocktails were well balanced but not strong. Drinks were priced fairly and looked very presentable. There is street parking right out front. Cool spot to check out in downtown Lexington! read more

Chef Ouita is genius with her multiple unique restaurant concepts and Thirsty Fox/Zims Cafe is no exception. The old courthouse location is such a great vibe. The servers are amazing with great knowledge and recommendations. The homemade ranch is just delightful! I can't wait to sign up for one of their Wine Ne Up classes as well. read more

A hidden gem! Thirsty Fox is near the hustle and bustle of downtown, but when you walk inside the vibe is completely different. It's upscale, yet low key. It has a patio and a good sized indoor space with games. They have an impressive cocktail list and assortment of wine and liquor. They also offer a few local beers on draft. The bartender was great. We had a large party and came late on a Saturday night and he was willing to accommodate us all. We will definitely be back and recommending this place to others! read more

A cozy little downtown bar on the ground level of the newly renovated court house on Main Street. There is a small area with tables adjacent to the bar. Outdoor seating is a plus. If you're hungry you can order from neighbor Zim's menu. read more

My girlfriend surprised me with a date night and while ridining out bikes we saw this small restaurant. When we walked in we were asked if we wanted drinks or food and drinks, we replied with the latter and were promptly instructed to find a seat/table outside and would be helped shortly. No sooner had we sat down then the young man came out and welcomes and asked us what we would like to drink while also offering us/explaining to us how to access the menu for dinner options. We first ordered appetizers which were the Fried Sweet Banana Pepper Rings and the baked brie and for dinner he recommended the Dr. P's Crispy Chicken which my girlfriend ordered and I chose the Old Fashioned Kentucky Proud Pulled Pork Plate. We then got our drinks mine a cider and an Arnold Palmer type drink as well as a Kentucky mule later. The waiter/bartender brought out our appetizers out and then maybe 10-15 mins later brought out our main food. The appatiezers were amazing and the chicken sandwich was so hot and crispy it was amazing. The pulled pork plate was hands down amazing and the Bartender explained why it had a hoecake and what exactly a hoe cake was to my girlfriend and I. This restaurant is a locally sourced food to table eatery Will definitely be visiting the other owns restaurants out here locally owned and sourced. read more

I didn't even realize that this place existed until I walked into Zim's. They have several tables that appear to make the place very intimate. They have a good selection of great bourbon but cannot comment on the prices because I did not order anything. They have a couple of seats at the bar but if that's not your thing with pandemic going on there are several other spots for you. read more

Tonight was my third or fourth visit to Thirsty Fox, and on all but one occasion I ordered food from Zim's Cafe (separate review). It's not a huge place, which is one of the things I like about it, but it can seat maybe 40-50 people in all. Around the bar itself you could probably fit 8-10 people, depending on how tightly you want to pack them in. The ambiance is very mellow, aided by the dark color scheme in the bar and low ceiling in the dining area. There is at least one TV in the corner of the bar, so you aren't totally cut off from current sporting events. The range of the bar offerings is impressive, especially given its small size, and the liquor is counter to ceiling. The drinks are inventive and delicious - try the Honeywood - and it really is great being able to order from Zim's. I dock them one star because the service is hot and cold, usually cold; I haven't had a single outstanding service experience there. We had an event there tonight, so it was wall-to-wall, but normally it's not crowded at all and you can enjoy your drinks at a leisurely pace. Something to keep in mind when there's an event at Rupp and downtown is crawling with people. read more

I attended a private birthday party this weekend at Thirsty Fox and it was awesome! From the service to the food to the atmosphere, it was a perfect location. Shout out to Josh & Eric for dealing with a bunch of "over 40s" who were out of the house and away from their kids for the first time in a year, you all were awesome! On previous visits, we had the burgers and they were wonderful. However, on this visit, we tried the special, which was "shrimp scampi" - It turned out to be seven dry shrimp completely covered in dry, flavorless bread crumbs. No pasta, no bread, nothing. $14.99? YUCK! Horribly disappointing, sent it back. They did credit the meal off our check but didn't really even apologize, credit our drinks or anything. The waitress was polite but honestly she acted like this was an everyday thing. Great location and atmosphere but really need to step it up a bit with the "specials" and service. read more
